Defiled Traditions and Consequences
MARKUS’S POV
I couldn't believe it. How the Alpha defiled the traditions. He has always been doing his duties adequately as the Lycan king despite hating the system.
Why is he changing now? This is making our situation complicated. What he’s doing will make our world chaotic, harming our existence completely.
Once the elders know of this incident, they’ll surely stripe his position off of him, causing an imbalance, and other alphas who wanted his position will fight to the death just to get his title.
I wouldn’t want that to happen.
And as I stare at Kira’s supple eyes which now turned red from crying, I couldn't fathom looking at her any further.
Something seems to be crushing my heart as if it was tugged tightly and I couldn’t breathe.
Shaking my head, I walked to the door and then turned around to face the future luna, “Do not leave your room from now on. The alpha’s mark on you is too strong. Everyone will know of this soon enough and this would cause a ruckus to the higher-ups.”
I said calmly to her, wanting to give her reassurance and she nodded quietly. I then left her alone in her room and quickly marched to the alpha’s study with hastened steps.
I barged into his room without even knocking and I was greeted by the sight of him, working on some documents.
His eyes which were staring at the papers ahead of him looked up at me.
I clenched my jaw, wanting to yell at him for his stupidity but maintained my composure.
Tsk, I hate how I’m always the one cleaning up after him. I know that it is included as his beta but he’s too much.
My mouth wanted to say the words, curse him even, yet my mouth blurted out, “You defiled the traditions.”
“I am the alpha. I am the law and my words are my judgment. I can do everything I want.”
I gritted my teeth at his words. Because I know that he is true, and it is getting in his head. He is indeed the alpha. But I am his right-hand man. I have the right say to this.
And Kira….She must be protected. She’s special. I do not know why but I am sure she is.
“But you didn’t think of the consequences and just claimed her like that without-”
He faces palmed himself and let out an exasperated sigh, “Just tell me exactly what you mean, Mark. I have other business to do.”
I glared at him, seeing how this situation is not bothering him at all. How dare he for acting so coy when he just hurt her…
“Soon the moon goddess will drop her judgment on you and will make the rest of us suffer. This selfish act of yours is going to bring the whole pack down.” I told him.
He rolled his eyes and scoffed, mumbling the words, “Moon goddess bullshit.”
The alpha has always hated the moon goddess, he’s cursing her even, for giving him a human mate. I understand him, yet now, the rage was just inside me.
Kira’s face suddenly popped into my head. I still could remember the look on her face earlier. Pain. Sadness, and just pretending that she’s fine. Tried so hard to maintain composure but she couldn’t help but break down.
“But what about Kira? You forced her, didn’t you?” I asked, “You saved her from that hellhole of her family, only to torment her like this, is that your way of keeping her ‘safe’ bullshit?” My tone was obviously and painfully mocking him.
“How dare you!” His hands instantly flew to my face and I didn’t dare to dodge. I could feel the pain seeping in, but I held still, grabbing my nose and seeing blood.
Alpha Ace clenched his hand, “I didn’t….hurt her.” There was uncertainty in his voice and I knew he alpha just fucked up right there and then. I blame him for his actions.
As if the punch wasn’t enough, he grabbed my collar and pushed me to the wall, “Why are you even poking your nose into my business with the future luna? You’re just my beta, Mark. You seem to be crossing your line.”
Damn. Just damn it.
And him. Damn him.
He has a point, I am indeed crossing the line. However, I do not know exactly other than the feeling of wanting to protect her too. Not wanting to see her pained expression again. Not wanting to see her tears falling from her eyes again.
But I did not say that aloud. Instead, I changed the topic, “You defiled the traditions, and you bad-mouthed the moon goddess, so how can I stay still and let everything unfold in my eyes? Remember, without me, this pack might have already been turned into a ruin, Ace.” I said cold-bloodedly, “Let’s see if this pack will make it out alive tomorrow by your actions.”
Alpha Ace can’t seem to comprehend this as he looked at me with disbelief, “Talking back to your alpha and calling me by my name now…you’ve grown some backbone, Mark.”
“I’m simply speaking to you as your advisor and friend, Alpha.” I gnawed on my teeth, “Soon word will come out about what you did so how are we going to clean this up?”
A smirk grew on his lips, “This is suspicious, are you really angry that I marked Kira and defiled the traditions? Or are you angry because you like my woman too?”
I halted at his accusations…but most importantly, at his words…..he’s calling Kira his woman now when he was hating how he has a human mate.
“I am just….thinking about the wellbeing of the pack.” I simply responded, “And you are calling her your woman now? I thought you don’t like her? She is a human and you hated humans.”
He breathed deeply, “Do not push me further, Mark. I would have already killed you if you weren’t my beta….” He said, “And about Kira, do not dare touch her. I will solve this on my own.”
It was my turn to scoff at him now, “And how exactly?” You mean by killing anyone, right? Or you’ll kill all your pack members?”
He stepped closer, “If you won’t stop taunting me then I might, and you’ll be the first one on my list.”
I pursed my lips, glaring at him as his eyes threw daggers back at me. Both of us were not backing down, and if only there wasn’t a knock on the door, I could have already hit him.
“Then I’ll now.” I suddenly said, fixing my shirt and clearing my throat. I walked away from him, but dropped the words, “As your beta, I advice that you shouldn’t show your face to her now and fix this mess first.”
And with that, I left him to his thoughts. If there’s still some conscience left to him, I know he would do the right thing.
I know he will.
