Debt from him
KIRA’S POV
I could feel myself running from someone.
“Kira….”
It was just soft and quiet, and I could practically hear it from my ear yet I couldn’t see anyone around me.
Could it be I am being just delusional?
I looked around me and saw it was plain darkness. I tried to run, but there wasn’t any light.
Suddenly, I could see the end, a sudden light appearing. I went to it and saw an old man sitting down.
He seems to be in his 50s and had no hair. He also seemed to look like someone familiar.
As if this is not the first time I have seen him.
“Be careful…for you possess something that others have been wanting. Keep it to yourself and have faith.”
I frowned, “What? Sir-”
I couldn’t even continue as I saw my aunt dropping into the empty ground, the pitch darkness was everywhere with only the moon from the night offering to light us. The trees swayed, and the cold wind pricked my skin.
“Aunt! Why are you here outside!”
She was coughing up blood, forcing herself up as if she was running away from someone, “Kira, run. Save yourself from him!”
“Him? Who’s him?” I yelled in fear, my heart slowing down and I tried to breathe but there was no air.
The crisp air suddenly smelled pungent. I could sense some smoke around, and I felt like I was burning up.
No, there seems to be a fire somewhere around here. But why would someone light up a fire?
I just grabbed my aunt from the ground but failed as I could see a cliff behind me.
I could feel someone behind me trying to push me, but a voice whispered to me, “Wake up.”
The scenery changed and my eyes instantly opened to the sound of someone.
I squinted at the sudden brightness and jumped at the heat of the fire in front of me.
Oh… it was a dream… but why is the pungent smell of smoke still here?
Looking around, I could see the fire blazing all around, and there seems to be a familiar house.
The roof was falling to ruin, and I somehow could recall where I am…
This is my past house, from my father and stepmother….where they abused me….
I felt the cold hard ground beneath me, and I could see I didn’t wear any slippers so my feet were full of scabs and wounds. The hard cement cut deep into my skin.
But what bothered me is the fire, which was so hot and burning the whole house in front of me.
I jumped as a piece of wood fell from the house and fell into the fire.
I blinked, why the hell am I here, standing here without slippers, my clothes were torn and my skin burning.
Did I just…. dream? And sleepwalked here? but why is there a fire?
“You burned your whole house…”
I stranger suddenly came. I could see he was no proper human. His skin was pale as snow and his teeth had fangs on them. His eyes were red, and his dark raven hair was gelled neatly.
He had a leather jacket around him, and a smirk was playing on his lips as if amused at me.
“Uhm…who are you?” I asked despite my voice coming out coarse.
“I am Gusev.” He said. “I know we’ve just met here but I heard a lot about you.”
“Me?” I asked still confused. Goodness, why is this all strange? I tried to wake myself up but I couldn’t.
It must still be a dream right?
“What? Why am I…and you…here?” I couldn't properly formulate the words.
The man, Gusev, took a step forward and sighed when I stepped back, “Relax, I don’t eat humans. I just drink their blood.”
I gasped, he’s a..vampire?
I wanted to faint right there and then, he must be pranking me…but then again, nothing is normal around me anymore.
He pointed at the house, “You sleepwalked here and burned it. Whole.”
I tried to process his words and halted when I realized it.
Damn.
Damn it.
I never sleepwalk. I never even sleep talk. Why the hell am I here, and this strange man saying I burned the house?
“I knew you would be such a threat, but I didn’t know it would be like this.” The man said, “I guess I have to take you to the high-”
He wasn’t able to finish his sentence when a strong gush of wind, along with the familiar scent in front of me.
He stepped in front of me, “Stay behind me, Kira.”
Why the hell is this man here? I loathe him.
“Why?” I asked him. I knew I was being immature, but I couldn’t help but say the words to him, “Why are you here?” I asked with such a tone.
He glanced at me, “I sensed you were in danger. I am protecting you, Kira.”
I scoffed, “Protect? Don’t try to play with me now.” I started to argue with him, not trusting his words now. Seeing him just did nothing but break my heart.
“Please just listen to me for now.” he said deeply, but I looked at the vampire watching us with so much amusement, “I would rather go to him than see you now.”
“Oops. That hurts to hear coming from your mate, don’t you think so, Alpha Ace?” The vampire, Gusev, said, mocking the alpha in front of me.
Alpha Ace’s expression turned soft as he gaze at me, “I know you hate me, Kira, I apologize, we’ll talk about it next time. For now, do not even breathe. This man is dangerous.”
He instructed me and the vampire chuckled at him as he sniffed the air, “Dangerous? Oh c’mon, I am your friend, we’ve bonded in the past, Alpha Ace.”
Alpha Ace tensed as he clenched his jaw, “Ah right, I killed you and your family so why are you still alive?”
“To seek my revenge of course, what else?” Gusev teased, his tone playful as he continued, “It’s time for payback, you know.”
His eyes draw back to me as he licked his lips, “Ah, I love her smell. Makes me want to gulp her blood down….” The vampire was eyeing me up and down now and I could sense the anger from Alpha Ace now, “Stop mocking me, Gusev.”
“What? I just want a human juice box.” He pouted as he crossed his arms in front of him, “Just give her to me and consider your debt paid.”
Alpha Ace growled, transforming into his wolf now and I gawked, still finding it amazing how they transform into a wolf.
“I don’t have a debt to anyone.” He answered.
the vampire nodded. “Alright, Then you won’t mind me telling the higher-ups that you marked her without proper ceremony? I know you defiled the traditions.” And in an instant, the vampire was already in his ear as he whispered, “Poor alpha….You know, you will be stripped of your position soon so might as well hand her to me.”
How did he….got here so fast?
Alpha Ace suddenly bit his ear off as he said, “Are you done talking?”
The vampire writhed in pain, fighting back as he pushed Alpha Ace. Both had incredible strength and I watched in horror as they both tear each other down.
I gulped, wanting to run away when I suddenly heard the vampire’s voice next to me, “Na uh, I won’t let you get away from me, darling.”
