Impossible to happen
“I guess I am not normal anymore since living with your kind. I am just this amazing.” I tried to joke about it although deep down was concerned about my well-being.
“I’ll report this to the alpha.” He said, taking note of it, “And you need to explain to the alpha about what you did. That was too….”
“What? At Least I saved us. I saved the pack.” I said proudly with a smug look.
Maximus then dispose of the bodies by burning them and I watched in silence as I look at the survivors. A few of the she-wolves died trying to fight, but most of the she-wolves were alive with only a few scraps on. I guess Ace still trained them, but not well enough. They could put up a fight though.
However, I noticed the blank look on their faces. They look traumatized. Some were grieving. But most of all, although we won, they looked so dead as if they lost their morale.
This is a bit strange because alpha ace’s pack is known to be one of the strongest. And as far as I know, they always won in battles.
“Has this happened before? Losing some of your members?” I approached Mark who was in the darkest tree resting. He seemed to not want to catch attention and tried to hide away far from them.
He shook his head, “Never. Alpha Ace had never failed to protect us. We never experienced something like almost losing everyone.” He replied and I nodded, now understanding it.
I see. I was right. But this cant do. This will make them lose trust and faith in their alpha… won't they?
I do not know why I felt so bad and responsible for everything. This only happened now, which means it's been my fault ever since I arrived. If it weren't for me, then Alpha Ace must not have left to get revenge for me and attack the red crows. Then he must have protected his members.
“Was it my fault?” I asked Mark, almost asking him to comfort me about this.
Mark, who was always quick to catch on, gave the answer I was looking for. “No. It wasn't you who attacked the pack. Why do you think that it is your fault?”
I sighed. Gosh, I miss that. “You know that I hate you. But I miss having no one to talk to.”
His eye swept to me, “The alpha assigned Maximus to guard you. He’s a strong one too. “
I bit my lip, “But not as comfortable as you. I just met him today and I swear I do not remember any of our conversations other than our arguments. “
“ well, that's a good start. Remember how you and I started too ?”
I chuckled, remembering how awkward I was. Those were the times…..gosh. How many months had passed by exactly? I couldn't count it off now.
“I missed your presence. I want you to come back to your position.” I suddenly dropped, saying to him what I always wanted to do.
Mark just smiled at me, a sad one. His eyes looked like he was prepared to say goodbye to me. “I believe that would be impossible to happen now.”
Just then, his ears perked up and he ran back inside. I furrow my eyebrows, sensing the arrival of someone coming.
No, it’s not just someone.
Judging from the foul sickening scent of blood, I could tell it was a vampire.
I stood up in alert, ready to hide inside when suddenly, a familiar pale-looking face of the same vampire appeared.
I could remember I had seen him before but since my memories are blurred, I couldn’t exactly pinpoint his name.
“Hello there, beautiful human.” He greeted me, bowing to me before smirking, “Your lovely smell is so hmm…delicious.” He moaned, sniffing the air, “I swear I always find myself looking for it.”
Oh right...I remember now. He’s Gusev, he visited us last time along with his other friend, Alpha Magnus…was it?
“Gusev?” I asked to make sure, and as he nodded, I knew I was right about his name.
“What are you doing here?”
He pointed at where Maximus was burying, “Stench of the wolves you buried there is very…appaling. They planned to massacre this pack, only to get beaten up…poor them.”
I cleared my throat, not wanting to make any more small talk. I am too tired now.
“Why exactly are you here?” I finally asked, straight to the point.
he licked his lips, his fangs showing as he was instanlty behind me, licking my ear. I instantly stepped forward, covering my neck. Sometimes, this vampire does not know any boundaries. Tsk. I guess it's in his nature…
But I don’t find it appealing how he would appear and lick me up.
Plus, if he weren’t any vampire, Ace must have gotten sensed this and would have killed him already.
“Because I wanted to see things. Alpha Ace must return soon…or else, other enemies of his would follow.” He answered, and I instantly knew he was giving me a warning. “You need to be careful. You are their number one target now. And you know what they want with you….they want to slowly twist your body until your limb by limb, they’ll
“Ace should have listened to me back them. You are not safe anywhere. He should have brought you with us when he had the chance to…You should have talked sense to him..”
I cocked an eyebrow at that, “Are you blaming me for what is happening?”
“No. I am just saying he should have lowered his pride and asked us for help. Now, look at you and his pack. That was careless of him for leaving you behind.”
I nodded. He must have just been worried for his friend. However, he should be here giving me this talk. “I did not sign up for you to scold me. If you’re that worried for your friend, just go and tell it him directly.”
He sighed, “We had already had this talk last time, however, as much as prideful and arrogant your mate is, he wouldn’t listen. He believes that he could handle it.”
I rolled my eyes, “If he said that then good, just drop it. Maybe you are worrying for him too much.”
He nodded, dropping the subject now and instead asks me a different question, “Anyways, how are you doing with him? Want me to take you with me?”
“I am fine with him, thank you. Are you done? I’ll be returning inside now-” I was about to walk inside when his hand grabbed mine, stopping me.
“Are you sure? I have heard of cases wherein alphas would keep on torturing and traumatizing their mates a hundred times. And the ending is not so great. They were too hardheaded and thought that they could change their alphas…..You can leave him if you have the chance to.”
Just then, I could hear a rhythm of feet. There is a marching army coming here.
And it’s not just any army. I could sense him…Alpha Ace himself…
“He’s here.” I told Gusev, “Leave now.”
“No, I’ll talk with him.”
“Can’t you just leave me alone? We’re both fine with each other.” I snapped at him and he paused, his eyes widening in realization before nodding, “Alright. You are in love with him. I understand.” He said, accepting it and standing still beside me.
I could hear My mate’s voice in my head, “Are you alright, my beloved?”
The bushes ruffled and before I knew it, there he was, Alpha Ace. He instanlty wrapped his arms around me, “I’m sorry I am late.”
I smiled, hugging him back for a minute as he stroked my hair and whispers his apology to me.
I pulled him back and did what I wanted to since he left me alone in this pack.
Which is to slap him in the face. With all my strength. Slap him hard enough.
He froze as if not believing what just happen, his eyes looking at me with so many questions and I huffed, “That’s for leaving me behind last time!”
