Revenge to the Crows
Maximus then appeared from nowhere as he bowed on Ace beside me before clearing his throat and glancing at me, “Excuse me, alpha, but could I talk to you for a second?”
Ace nodded, “Go ahead.”
He cleared his throat again, looking at me pointedly that says, “not without this b*tch.”
“Alone?”
Ace looked at me to ask for permission, “Is it all right?”
I nodded, “Yes.” When Ace was behind, I flashed my middle finger to Maximus and gave him my wacky face while sticking my tongue out.
I knew what he would report to Ace. He’ll tell me everything, including my strange occurrences.
I waited for a few minutes inside the pack house, to Ace’s office, and just guessed what would be his reaction about it.
When Ace managed to show up, he gave me a look, “Maximus told me everything.”
I nodded. “Yes….and?” What would he feel about it? I tried to guess as I could almost feel his emotion.
“This isn’t a strange case….this is normal for an alpha’s mate to occur. Since I have already marked you, some of my abilities are somehow connected to you.” He said, “So do not be worried.”
“Does that mean I get to shift too?” I asked with so much hope in my eyes but he shook his head, “No. You can sense things faster, walk faster, and have sharper ears but you won’t get to be fully werewolf. We are not vampires who could get you to be one of us…although our pups would be one in the future.”
“Pups? So our children…if we ever have them..won’t they become half-breeds? Half human and a half-werewolf?” I couldn’t help but ask about the possibility. And isn’t that a taboo here?
Ace just leaned to me and kissed my forehead, “Do not worry about that.”
“Now that you are bright it up. There is something I have been finding out about you. Remember the past incidents where you would burn forests?”
I nodded at his question. Ooops. I have been trying to forget about that part…
“I’m trying to trace your origins, see if you are anything familiar with witches.”
Witches? Oh my goodness. Is Ace telling me that I am one?
Wow. In my dreams that might happen but I don’t think that is real.
“Oh no. That’s impossible. I am 100% human. I just know it, Ace.” I fought off.
He shrugged, “Then explain those burned hands?”
That made me silent, “Can we discuss that next time? I want to ask you a question now. Did you really… attack the Red Crows?”
He shook his head, which made me scowl.
“Really? Then where were you?”
He breathed a sigh, “I managed to pass by Alpha Zef of the Midnight's pack. He was asking for help about his brother but then I sensed something wrong….so I returned.”
I blinked. Alpha Zef, whoever that is, I do not know.
“So? What’s your plan now? Your pack is in a wreck, your pack members' morale is in a wreck, and you’re still keeping Mark in his prison.” I listed all of it and he sighed.
“I’ll manage those things later….”
His lips then suddenly started to lean in closer to me, “I missed you in those days.” His hands were all over me now, his eyes gazing up at me and then back at my lips.
I rolled my eyes, knowing what he was about to do. “Did you forget the part that I am still angry at you? No kissing for now.”
His eyebrows furrowed, “What? Kira, my honey…”
“What? Don’t you dare talk all sweet to me and expect me to melt in your embrace again?”
He pouted like a child, a scene that I am fond to see.
“Alpha Zef’s brother is caught by the Red Crows now, along with their mates. They are twins and they have one rogue mate. I am planning to go back there soon.” He suddenly said and I cocked my head to the side.
“And? Why are you telling me all of this?” Although deep inside me, I couldn’t help but get interested in this. I did not know that is possible. Two alpha twins and have a mate. “and what is a rogue?” I asked.
“I’ll explain everything tomorrow on the road. I’ll take you with me.” He said, “I can’t leave you alone here again, and I think their mate could use some friend.”
That instantly made me excited but then again, I tried to calm down, not wanting to be given another false hope. “Are you sure? You’re not going to leave me?”
“Yes. What shall I do to make you believe me?”
“Do a pinky promise,” I said, showing him my pinky finger. His eyebrows raised at me in question, not understanding what I was referring to.
Oh right, it’s a human tradition. I have to explain it to him.
“Just do it. Show me your pinky finger and tell me that you are true to your words.”
He nodded, doing as I told him and I locked my pinky finger with him.
“I swear by my name and the moon goddess, I am taking you, Kira, with me to the Red Crows.”
“You won’t overthink about my safety again?” I asked additionally.
“I won’t. I know you could put up a fight. But you’ll just stay beside me at all times.”
I broke into a grin at that, “Good, it’s a deal then.”
***
Tomorrow finally arrived and I am carried on Maximus’s back as he turned into his gray wolf. Alpha Ace was in front, leading the pack while he got some of his fighters behind. We must be around fifteen or more, as I couldn’t properly count because the others were scouting the area and they had some similar brown and gray furs that I couldn’t recognize them.
With the tall lush green trees around us and the muddy ground, it took us three hours to reach the destination, and that was the longest travel I had while being carried on a wolf’s back. It felt both thrilling and adventurous that I only watched this in the movies. This is my first time…
Ace decided that we needed to take a few breaks because he was worried that I might have become lightheaded from the travel. Well, I felt pretty fine, except I have to be stuck and talk insults with Maximus.
He has become bearable in his wolf form because Ace is around.
“We’re here.” Ace suddenly announced, and ordered his fighters to scout the area more for any sight of our enemies. Once they made sure there was no danger ahead, Maximus put me down and made a tent for me.
“I could smell them now.” Ace said after a while, and one wolf appeared in front of us out of nowhere.
“Is this the one who attacked you that night?” Ace asked, and I shook my head. More of them kept on coming and Ace’s pack bit them off in one go.
Just then, I spotted a familiar face.
It was one of the Red Crows that attacked me and my aunt..Ace read my thoughts as he grabbed the wolf and gave me a knife and urged me to kill the wolf.
I gulped, my hands were shaking as my whole body trembled. I do not want to kill anyone, but at the same time, I want to avenge me and my aunt. I closed my eyes and sliced his head off as the enemy howled.
I could feel the warm blood splattering in my hands and when I opened my eyes, Ace was smiling at me, “Good job, kitten. Now we’ll take it from here.” He stroked my head, and then looked at his subordinates.
“Wolves, fight them! Protect my mate, I’ll be going to kill Alpha Elijah and find Kai in the heart of their packhouse.” He said before disappearing into the bushes.
