Red Crows
My father and my mate….
Yes. They were killed.
I glanced at the glaring Alpha Kai.
His eyes were fiery, and he seemed to want to attack me right there and then.
But it is not like I did not want to leave Alpha Kai. I did not really. I was just hesitating as I know he is injured…
To think he was finally letting me escape, and Maya came along.
“It is not like that, Maya.” I argued with her, “Listen to me first, will you?”
Maya suddenly erupted into fits of laughter as she clapped her hands, finding something amusing.
“You’re starting to talk like them.” She commented, “And that irritates me, Arya. Having to plan all of these escape routes when you just wanted to stay here all along?”
I blinked, What?
I sighed, wanting to just end this and come to them when Maya instantly drew her arrow and pointed it to Kai, “He deserves to die. After this, I’ll make sure to skin him, burn him, and hang his head on the road. Surely that would be enough of a signal not to mess with us?”
Menace was written on her face, her tone so deadly that I was afraid he would cut Alpha Kai’s head right there and then.
I shook my head, now coming on Alpha “Maya, we could-”
“Arya, tell me, what did they make you eat for you to defend him like that?”
I gritted my teeth, howling at her, “He is my mate, do not dare to touch him.”
“What?” She scoffed, “I see that must be enough reason for your heart to soften to them. Don’t forget how they made you captive and almost burned us alive when you left.”
I raised my eyebrows at Kai, “You what? I made a deal with you,
Alpha Kai chuckled despite his injury, “Promises are meant to be broken, Arya.”
Approaching him, I pressed on his wound deeper, making him whimper, I turned to Maya, “Maya, I changed my mind, Get this damn alpha.” I ordered, “I’ll be the one to kill him. I'd make sure he’ll regret bothering us.”
Maya smirked at that and ordered the others to tie Alpha Kai. We then marched back as Maya led the way and I stayed behind, making sure that Alpha Kai won’t even think of escaping. I would stare at the tie on his hand and see how it was still tightly packed.
I knew he was strong and although he’s indeed now weakened a bit, we could not just be careless about this.
Soon, Alpha Zef would notice that we were gone for far too long and he would surely come here. He would come at us in full swing without us even noticing.
And I can’t risk having the remnants of our rogue pack getting killed by just one mistake.
I breathed deeply, remembering how I am mated to Zef. Although it is in a distance and he couldn’t hear my thoughts now, I should not even think about anything. I breathe deeply, trying to clear my head off.
“I’ll make sure no one will rescue you now, Alpha Kai.” I spat out at Kai as he whimpered a bit. I pushed his back off and that made him stumble on the mud, splashing on his face and the other members chuckled at that.
“Get back on your ass, bastard!” Yelled Maya, making them laugh harder. Kai then stood up and quietly continued walking.
“It’s good that you are back with us, Arya.” Said one of the members and I nodded.
“I’m happy too,” I replied.
“I can’t believe we have taken one of the twins here as our prisoner here.” Maya yelled, “Thanks for the help, Arya.”
I just nodded. Silence came as we walked towards the woods and I turned to Maya, “Are we there yet? Where did you temporarily stay?”
Maya shrugged, “Soon you’ll see, we aren’t that far from here.”
I nodded, sniffing the air, and could sense how the air is getting thicker and the road is getting narrower.
Sensing something weird. Maya looks so erratic now as we are getting closer as she always checks and sniffs around.
Suddenly, we spotted a cloud of smoke coming from ahead and Maya sent one of his men to check there. We paused for a bit, waiting for him to return and when he did, horror was in his eyes.
His mouth was wide open, seemed to get scared by what he saw.
I grabbed him by the arm and shook him a bit to wake him up from his trance, “Spit it out, tell us what did you see?”
“Smoke….a pack was burning.” That was his only answer as he suddenly spits out whole blood, splattering some droplets until he dropped to the ground.
Maya gulped, “He’s dead.”
I nodded, now knowing what it is. There’s only one pack that would do that. It must have been Red crows Pack, The Twin’s rival pack.
I could feel that Alpha Kai here knows me already as he stiffened, his body trembling a bit.
Ah, I see I am right. Red Crows Pack. This must be the pack that Alpha Zef was talking about “enemies” and Kai was wary of them, scared that they will steal me from them and use me for ransom.
I breathed deeply, wiping my arms and face from the blood, “That must be the Red Crows.”
This must be their warning. Goodness. Why did we even cross into this area?
They torture all their enemies in far worse than we can imagine. I heard they would cut off their parts, boil them, and eat them. Or worse, they would burn you alive.
I sighed at the dead body, looking at it with a blank expression, “Go and dig deep. We’ll bury him here.”
Maya shook her head, “No, let’s leave now. The more we stay here, the more they’ll find us soon.”
I sighed, “So we’ll just leave him here?” It’s not like we are close but it was father’s tradition to bury the dead and give them a proper farewell for leaving the world.
“Yes, unless you want to be the next one to be buried.” She threatened me and I rolled my eyes, not even scared of her.
“You seem to be forgetting something, Maya. Just because my father is dead doesn’t mean you can just remove the traditions.” I snarled at her, glaring down at her and she scoffed.
“Oh please, I was the one who managed to thread back our pack together.” she retorted back and right then and there, I just want to slam her head into the mud and show her who was the boss here. The rightful, leader.
She can’t just walk around and order me around and defile our traditions.
I sighed, “I’ll let this slide, Maya, just because you’re brother has been nice to me.” I was the one who dropped the issue at hand and glanced at Kai who was just silently looking at us. When he saw me looking at him, a smirk grew on his lips and he raised his eyebrows.
He’s enjoying this. He’s clearly amused at the sight and I must not give this satisfaction to him.
