The Dead are Gone
The misty clouds bellowed over the dark forest, trapping me. It just rained, perfect to hide my scent and not leave a trail.
I huffed, going deeper into the forest. I shifted into my wolf to go faster and trained my legs to maintain endurance and last a long time.
Long enough to get away from them.
I don't even know where I'm going.
I don't care as long as it's away from the two of them.
I looked behind me and sighed in relief when I saw that they were not following me.
Good.
I kept on running and running, yet the forest seemed endless. I feel like a mouse caught in a trap. A hamster stuck in running a wheel and ending up nowhere.
I looked in front and instantly stopped at the two figures waiting for me.
Damn it. They caught up.
The fog hid their faces, yet I could hear their voices.
I looked to the right to see a cliff. I gulped. The cliff or back to the twin alphas?
"You can't run away from us forever, Arya." said a voice against the fog.
"I won't ever belong to alphas like you!" I yelled at them. "Not ever!"
They took everything away from me. Yet why does fate continue to play with me?
"You can't change fate, Arya. Our destinies are tied together. You have nowhere to go." Alpha Kaizelus replied.
I instantly aimed for their neck and watched as they laughed. Their irritatingly deep voice spread in my head, suffocating me in the process.
"You're getting stronger and stronger every day, I must admit." They commented, licking their lips.
They both gasped, dumbfounded.
"Same old Arya. Don't you get tired of running away from us? Why not run to us?" Kai suggested.
"You don't have to choose. You have both of us. What's the use of being picky?" added Alpha Zeferion.
I gritted my teeth, "I'll get my revenge. One that will kill both of you."
"Make sure to succeed. I'm sure you'll have a hard time."
I looked again at the cliff behind me. Tall and icy.
If I were to fall wrong on foot, it would kill me.
I took one last deep breath, closed my eyes, and ran to dive into the water.
I made my decision. I would rather die than be with any of them. But then, I could feel the sickening feeling turning dry as darkness enveloped me once again.
I could feel that I was being pulled from the water.
No, there was a cold water splash on my face. I breathed, my eyes forced to open at the sudden coldness on my skin.
“Wake up, bitch.” Said a man’s voice and I gasped for air, wanting to wipe my face when I felt it is tightly tied.
I blinked profusely, simply not wanting my eyes to get drowned in the water too. I cleared my eyesight and when I managed to do it, I could see the full picture of an unfamiliar man, staring down at me.
I could finally remember what happened. Alpha Kai helped me escape, Maya then came to “rescue me”, only to know that she allied with the Red Crows.
And now I am here. In this damn cold hard concrete, shivering as the water that they threw at me smelled like a pig’s shit.
“Make sure she’s awake now.” There was a familiar woman’s voice and when I looked to my right, there she was.
The traitorous backstabbing bitch.
Maya. She was sitting on the chair with a relaxed pose, and behind her, other werewolves were guarding her.
I gritted my teeth. She seemed important at this place.
Oh right. She’s the Red Crow’s Alpha mate. How could I forget that revelation?
Oh, how I crave to dig my claw at her and just snap her neck.
My body instantly reacted in anger as I ran to her but stopped when I felt the harsh metal of the chain pulling me, grazing my skin in the process.
I looked at her in disbelief, “Awe, look at you now. The past rouge leader’s daughter is in chains. What a sight to see.”
“You bitch.” I yelled. Damn it. I shouldn’t have trusted her.
I only knew of this.
My hand desperately reached for her, but she just sat there, watching me with a smile on her face, watching me in amusement.
Watching me in despair.
“You know you’re wasting your energy, my dear.” She mumbled, “Don’t push it. It’ll only get worse.”
As stubborn as I was, it only urged me to reach more when I could hear her laughing.
“Let me tell you a story, Arya. The moment I handed that darn Alpha Kai of yours to my mate, he was very pleased with it. So much that
“Where’s Alpha Kai?”
“Oh, that little boyfriend of yours? Tsk, don’t worry about him. Worry about yourself.” She then burst into a maniacal laugh, “We’ll deliver him back to his brother, but in little pieces. One by one.” She winked at me, licking her lips and the hair on my neck stood in disgust.
This is the opposite of what I last remembered from her.
The Maya that I am seeing now is far different from what I remember.
This one seems like a…psycho.
I know that our pack has always been killing and hunting but only for survival.
We were only doing that out of dire need.
Yet now…Maya…I couldn’t even explain it.
“Why are you doing this, Maya?” I asked, wanting to make a sense of her one last time. To see what her true reason is.
She suddenly stopped laughing and her eyes stared at me blankly, “I believe you know exactly why I am doing this, Arya. For my brother. Revenge. Don’t you want to seek revenge for your father and your pack too?”
I nodded, “I am doing it yet you are out here, locking me in this stupid and dirty dungeon.”
Maya leaned down and grabbed my neck, “Well that’s not enough sweetie, you seem to be taking it too long. Or you're shaking your ass to them and still enjoying your time?”
I paused, wanting to break my chains free at this moment.
“How was it? Did they please you? Did they take you to heaven that you forgot that they are killers?” She sniffed my scent, “You reek of their scent. So much that I don’t even have to ask how that stupid Alpha marked you already.”
I gulped. She’s damn right.
But having the truth slammed right in my face feels too…sudden.
Instead, I tried to play it cool, “We’re no different. I was captured, Maya, while you go to this damn Red Crows for help. Having an alliance with the Red Crows won’t do us any good. I’m sure your brother will rise to the dead seeing this exact scene-“
Her grip on my neck suddenly tightened and I choked on my saliva. She watched me try to inhale more air but she still grabbed my neck.
It went on for a few seconds and I was barely breathing. As soon as her hold was loosened, she laughed. “The dead are gone, and we living need to continue living. We need to seek revenge for them.”
She suddenly whistled and another sound of chains, followed by two men dragging a prisoner to us.
No, it wasn’t just any prisoner. It was no other than Alpha Kai.
Cold and emotionless expression, our eyes met for a split second before he was pushed to the ground. They stripped him shirtless he only had the same dirty pants on that I could see the opened wound on his shoulder.
Maya then stomped on Alpha Kai’s chest where his wound was near,
“Here’s your little mate. Elijah wanted to torture him for fun, but I said to hold it off. I don’t want his tongue getting cut off since I want to play games with him first...well, he looks like he suits the role of being my toy.”
