A vampire's chitchat
The sound of the flowing water was getting nearer and I glanced at Kira who seemed to be observing the surroundings. Lush green meadows and fresh clean air. Everything was blooming here.
I have to say that Alpha Elijah’s territory was quite alright to watch. It’s undeniably beautiful here
“You’re really strong Arya.”
My attention drew back to Kira’s comment.
“I am not. you’re just weak.” I said without much thought but seeing her quite hurt expression, I immediately withdraw my words back. “Oh. I meant that it’s because you’re human. If it was another werewolf, I wouldn’t stand a chance.”
But there was a sneaky smile on her face, not believing a word I said, “Didn’t take you for someone humble. You are strong. Admit it.”
“Fine. I am. Happy now?”
She burst into giggles, clutching her stomach in laughter, “you know one second you’ll get kind but then the next thing, you’ll give snarky remarks. You’re different, Arya..”
“I know. It’s just me.” I said, growing up with a foul attitude has got me to places. I guess it was just because it’s my defense mechanism against the world.
My way of dealing with everyone is through my sharp teeth and harsh words. This way, I wouldn’t be the one hurting anymore. I wouldn’t be the one in pain.
We finally reached our destination, which is the river Kira didn’t hesitate but took her clothes off and dive into the waters and took a bath. She swam around, smiling and waving at me who was panicking a bit as I haven’t tested the waters first if it was poisonous or not.
“Get back here, Kira. I still haven’t tested the waters.”
She shook her head, “No, I’ve been waiting for this! and just trust me, it’s safe here!”
I sighed, removing my clothes so they wouldn’t get wet, and joined her too. She smirked, “ah, this is refreshing. I'm really glad I have someone to bathe with cause if not, Ace won't even let me here if he’s not included. He’s a bit paranoid about my safety.” She complained, “and I want another person for a change.”
I just let her ramble on and on except I heard a leaf ruffle from the trees and I instinctively turned to it.
Goodness, it must have been Kai! Or is Alpha Ace watching us? I gritted my teeth in annoyance.
“I told you not to follow us!” I yelled but it wasn’t Alpha Kai nor Alpha Ace.
It was different and much more opposite.
It was a….vampire?
In an instant, I pulled y body out of the waters and dashed to the trees so I could put my claws on the unidentified vampire. A specie I wasn’t expecting to come at these hot lands. If anything, they like the cold. And this place is far from cold. It even smells of burning trees and burning bodies.
For a moment, I wanted Kai to be even with her and chase this damn vampire away.
“Speak. Who the hell are you?” I glared, I stood up defensively to protect Kira. Oh no. We’re screwed. Between us, it's only me who could put up a fight. I have to protect her. This vampire loves to drink humans’ blood after all. He’s a threat.
“Hey hey hey, I came in peace!” His hands were up in surrender. “Geez, calm down please.”
However, Kira rolled her eyes, “Drop your hand, Arya. We’re safe. He won’t hurt us.”
I raised my eyebrows, How would she know? Shouldn’t be the one panicking here out of the two of us?
In a tired expression, Kira looked at the vampire, “Gusev, what the hell are you doing here?”
“I was just strolling around when I heard your loud voice so I went and wanted to go with you two.” he started to explain and once I made sure he wouldn’t attack, I put down my hands but still obeyed him.
“Ugh. You’re just always following my sound. Get a life.” Kira retorted the vampire pouted.
“But I want to join in the fun!”
“No. Leave. Why is it that you’re always out to someone’s business? Don’t you get tired?”
“No. Can you expect someone? to live for hundred years and not get bored?”
Well, he has a point…but then it was wrong to sneak up behind us like that!
“Why not find someone to play with? Someone other than us?”
I cleared my throat, wanting to butt in their argument, “You two know each other?”
“Yes, and we’re very close.” The vampire replied, “I am Gusev by the way.”
I nodded, not wanting to say my name.
“Yes, nice to meet you, Arya.”
I cocked my head to the side. “You know my name.”
“I just lived long enough to know everyone.” He answered.
That made me wonder. How the hell did a vampire got close to a human? Vampires hunt humans, they are their predators while humans are always being hunted by them. They are prey.
Humans and vampires are never friends, to begin with.
And what’s worse, I knew he was not just any normal vampire. I’ve seen one from the time with my late father who would kill some weka normal vampires. This one is different, he could get past my incredibly sensitive nose.
And he moved so stealthily I wasn’t even able to sense him at all.
Knowing this is quite alarming enough. He’s definitely of high caliber.
I kind of wished Alpha Ace or Kai would even think of coming here….just to escape this situation.
“I suspect your company does not want my presence,” Gusev said, glancing at me and I scoffed at him, my nose getting itchy from smelling a vampire’s scent.
“What can you expect, I’m a werewolf, your our enemy.”
“But I’m a traveling vampire. I side with no one.”
That’s a curious case….I never met a vampire like this before. Freely talking to a human, explaining to a werewolf…..“Not even your clan?”
“If I have to…but I am protecting some alpha queen to the east.”
No way….an alpha queen in the east….that must be Alpha Queen Kamilah! Ever since I heard about a she-wolf that rose from being an omega to a queen, I had been curious to meet her In fact, how do I say this in human terms? I am a fan of hers! Right!
I gulped, getting a bit excited, “Alpha Queen Kamilah?”
He nodded, pointing at my ears, “Ohh, your ears are wiggling excitedly. I guess this is a topic that you prefer to talk about?” He smirked, “Well then, I will give it to you….I might arrange for her to meet with you next time then. She’ll be happy to meet you.”
