Kira was silent until she spoke up, “Who is this queen? You’re in love with her?”

This somehow caught him off guard and he tried to regain it by clearing his throat, “In the past. But these are different times. She chose her mate. Alpha Magnus.”

Oh, I heard these ferocious alphas too.

Kira glanced at me, “I met Alpha Magnus. He seems ruthless too.”

Ohh, I guess he was friends with Alpha Ace…or alliances too? Just how much alliance does Lycan King Ace have among the alphas?

I am curious that I want to know but we are not that close enough.

“I didn't know about that fact, Gusev,” Kira complained.

“Well, we didn’t have enough time to talk last time since your mate was practically chasing us away.”

He said, fixing his robe and sensing the air, “Anyways, I’ll be back before Ace chases me away.”

Just then, I sensed something wrong in the air. Something worse is going to happen. I instantly grabbed my clothes to the ground and wore them.

“Kira, let’s leave.”

“Oh, you can go alone. I’m fine here. I want to stay longer.”

I blinked, “But…no…you’re my responsibility now.”

“So you’ll be worried if something bad happens to me? Awe, Arya, that’s what friends do! I knew it! You like me now, just agree to be my friend!”

I wanted to drag her instant there and suddenly, Kira’s voice stopped as we all heard a loud firing from a distance.

Kai instantly emerged in the bushes, along with Lycan King Ace behind him.

“I sensed a vampire in this direction. Are you both alright?” Asked Alpha Ace.

“It’s Gusev. He happened to pass by.” Kira replied and Ace clicked his teeth. This must have already happened in the past for his reaction to being pissed like that.

“And the sound of bullets. They have come here to hunt.” Alpha Kai announced.

My heart started to beat rapidly, knowing it’s danger ahead.

Another day, another danger. Damn. Seems that trouble always finds its way to us.

Kira looked at me for an answer, not knowing who we were referring to. “Who?”

“Fowlers.” I simply answered. But she still looked confused.

“Yes. Human hunters.” I explained, “The main reason why we hate humans. They hunt us and sell us.”

Another one fired and with ears perked up and we were instantly in a defensive stance. Alpha Ace pulled Kira behind him while I could see Kai going to my side instinctively.

To think we just recovered from Alpha Elija’s Red Crows the last few days ago.

A few of Alpha Ace’s men came to him, “Alpha, it’s them…the fowlers.”

Alpha Ace’s member then whispered into his ear which made Alpha Ace’s expression turn darker. He instanlty grabbed Kai by the neck, “You bastard!”

I instantly got in between them, wondering what is happening to Alpha Ace to attack his friend like that. Weren’t they just fine a moment ago? “This is not the time to fight. We have enemies ahead.”

But Alpha Ace was still grabbing him by the throat “You’re brother asked me to save you. I did so  because of our history yet!”

“Calm down. What is happening with you, Ace.” Kai said, trying to maintain calmness but he is getting irritated each second now.

“You’re too dumb. Your brother is planning to kill us all here. He leads the fowlers to come to us.”

I shook my head. “Zef? No, he won’t do that.” It must be someone! Not Zef!

“It’s because of your damn competition with your mate, isn’t it? And you dare involve me and my mate in this? Fuck no.”

“Ace, calm down,” Kira said. “This must be a mistake.”

“I knew it. This explains why it was strange. Your brother not even bothering to help you personally.” I could see the anger on Alpha Ace’s face now and he looked red. His blood must have been boiling in anger.

I mean if I were him, knowing this, I might have already been angry too.

But this is different. This must have been a wrong intel of information. Or fake news. Alpha Zef could never do this!

I wanted to explain more and convince Alpha Ace but it looks like he already made up his mind and I decided to take things into my hand.

“Fine. We won’t bother you, Lycan king. We’ll go on our own.” I glanced at Kira. “I guess this is where we part now.”

Kira’s puppy eyes were confused now and she shook her head, “Wait! No!” She yelled.

I sighed, “We’ll leave you now.”

I grabbed Alpha Kai’s hand who was looking at Alpha Ace with deep thought before he nodded at me.

“Let’s go. They consider us as their enemy now.” He said, grabbing my hand and wanting to leave but then again, another bullet fired, this time, closer as if it was just beside us.

Suddenly, we could hear the humans’ footsteps. I sniffed the air. I am guessing there are ten of them here. Sh*t.

Rumors say that they ingested some werewolf blood and vampire blood for them to have their powers to hunt us.

They instantly circled us and we got surrounded.

“I am going to make a diversion. Run as fast as you can.” Kai said and I turned to him.

“What about you?” I asked, not wanting to leave him behind.

“I’ll manage to find you. Always.”

His eyes were deep and I nodded, understanding him.

Alpha Kai started to lash out at them, going to the woman who was carrying a large gun she aimed it at us.

I ran around to see Alpha Ace was also fighting off the rest and I went closer to Kira who suddenly fell to the ground and fainted.

Good thing I was quick to catch her because if I didn’t, her head must have already racked in two from the large sharp rock.

Just then, I felt my hands burning from carrying her. I could smell some smoke, and suddenly, her hands were glowing with fire, which took me aback.

For a moment, I sat there in both surprise and awe, then I realized what is happening so I stood back up and saw her standing on her own.

“Kira?”

I called out to her but no answer. She seemed to be possessed or not herself as she just walked ahead, to the trees, and out her burning hand to it. Her eyes were still closed at this point.

is she…sleepwalking?

“Kira! Get back here!” I screamed at her to wake her up. I instantly ran to her and grabbed her.

Just then, one of the fowlers came to us. A young boy. He seems like a teenager still as he carried a big gun and pointed it at us with a smirk, “What’s a human doing here with a werewolf?”

She pointed at Kira and instantly, I grabbed his gun and crashed it into my own hands. He gasped, gritting his teeth in anger, and ran to attack me.

I was surprised that he to keep up with the strength and speed, even with his meekly short stature. And I suddenly thought how the rumors might have been true.

The insane out-of-normal speed.

They really must have done their rituals to attain that.

I tied to fight off but he caught up with me and grabbed my hair. I glanced at Kira, seeing her standing there in the crowd, eyes still closed. I instantly grabbed the teenager’s hand and put it in Kira’s so he would burn.

He yelped in pain and I threw him to the cliff.

I could still see Alpha Ace and Alpha Kai fighting and I helped them to the side.

“Why are you here? Go and get Kira.” Alpha Ace howled, his other members were fighting too as glared at me in the mid-fight and Kai went behind me throwing daggers at Alpha Ace.

“Don’t you dare order her around?” Kai’s voice was deep, and I was scared he would transform into his monster at this moment. I mean, I somehow could control him but this is not the right time.

I turned to Alpha Ace, “You didn’t tell us about Kira. Tell me, is she a witch?”

He shook his head, “No.”

I scoffed, “Then explain the fire on her hands.”

He was just silent, as I came back to Kira and made sure she was safe. She seemed to be sleeping now as I let her lean on the rock and sat there before returning to the battlefield.
