Sensitivity

We managed to finish off the ten fowlers, but I caught one of them reporting to this little gadget of theirs so I assume they would come with backups. It’s best we need leave.

“Want to know who gave us your location? It’s alpha Zef.” Said one of the fowlers before Kai put a knife in his throat. I tried to look at Kai but he was avoiding eye contact with me.

Just then, I felt Alpha Ace grab my throat, “Where the hell is my mate?”

Kai instinctively fought back for me as he put the big knife in Alpha Ace’s throat, “You dare mess with my mate?”

The Lycan King had looked so angry that he was breathing deeply, not caring about the knife as he was too focused on killing me.

However, I did not feel threatened at all. It’s the fact that they still felt like fighting even though it was at the wrong time.

If they wanted to have each other’s throats like this then they should have picked a better time than this!

I glared at the two of them, “Stop it you two. I had enough of fighting for now.” I turned to Ace, “I just left your mate to rest at the strong-”

“Left her? So you damn left her?”

I gulped at his rage. He’s directing his anger on me when it's not my fault that I need to get back on the battlefield earlier so I could help them fight!

If anything, it's his fault for not doing everything better and he could have protected Kira better.

I mean, I think I should have secured her safety first…I mean it’s kind of my mistake but I am sure Kira is alright. I hope she could wake up sooner because I am so excited to know what the heck was she really.

Because as far as I know, no human could just conjure up fire from scratch. It literally came from her hands. I am dying to know what her response is. Or if this has happened before? But I think so…judging by how calm Ace acts about it. He was more concerned about his mate’s safety than that bizarre thing that happened.

But Alpha Ace seemed to have thought of every possible danger his mate could be in that in a flash, he ran in the direction where I left Kira earlier.

I wanted to go check things too but it seemed that Kai has planned something different.

“Where are you going?” He asked as if I just did something wrong.

“To Kira. Why?” I asked, “Let’s go and-”

“The fowlers are all killed now and we are done with the fight. We need to go now since Ace thinks we’re still traitors.” He answered simply.

I gave him a look, “Are we really?”

“No.” He said. “But-”

“Then we must explain to Alpha Ace. He would understand it. His head should be clear by now.”

“He’s the Lycan King, known for his madness. You do not know what he had done to people whom he knows as traitors. He’s ten times worse than me. He was never merciful to anyone.”

“But Kira has grown to my heart….”

“I thought you hated humans?”

“I believe she’s not just any human now judging from what happened from her burning hands. I have to see if she woke up already, I want to ask her.”

“Do not trust any of them. The Crimson pack…any of them.”

“I do not. I do not trust even you.” That seemed to have pulled a nerve as he went silent.

“We need to go.” He repeated.

“Let’s talk about your brother first,” I said, bringing the topic up.

“Let’s not talk about him. That was fake news.” Kai said. So he must have done a lot of thinking. And he clearly, does not believe it. As for me, part of me wants to defend ALpha Zef and try to find a hole, hoping that he still loves Kai, but part of me knew that ALpha Azef was definitely right. He was just abandoned by his brother. He even wanted his own brother to be killed.

Everything is just messed up right now.

I cleared my throat, “If it was true….what’s your plan now?”

Kai paused, “What if I tell you that I’ll give you to my brother?”

I scoffed at him, wanting to make sure he was serious and not messing up with my head but knowing him, Kai never jokes. He is always serious.

Whatever he says to you, he means it,

“You’re that easy to give me up? Seriously.” I responded. Because I really thought that he was much more than that!

I then snickered, wanting to laugh at this situation, “Remember, you let me out of the pack. If we return, you are branded as a traitor too. We’ll get locked up.”

“Then what do you suggest? My brother just abandoned us, Lycan King Ace considers us traitors, so where do you think we should go? Go rouge? From our own pack? Or be a lone wolf?”

Well, now that he laid out the choices, I think I would be choosing the obvious, “Then I’ll go rogue. I take pride in it, it is what I started, and I’ll die being one.” I answered and he just faces paled himself and breathed deeply.

I then left him alone then, not wanting to argue anymore. Thank goodness Kai didn’t stop me as I arrived at the scene.

I reached Lycan King Ace yelling for his mate’s name, “Kira! Where are you?”

Alpha Ace sensed my presence as he glanced at me. He almost punched me when we couldn't find Kira. “You told me she was just here. She’s not.”

I gulped. Oh boy, where the hell did Kira go to? I hope no one dared to touch her!

We continued looking for her, Alpha Ace now ordering all his subordinates to look for her too when suddenly, the leaves from the higher tree branch rustled, and we could see a figure there.

“Ace! Arya! I am here!” We could hear her voice from the same exact spot on the tree as her whole body appeared. She waved at us like a child but then paused and muttered to herself, “Why am I here?”

“I found her alone.” Suddenly answered by another familiar voice and I gasped, seeing how the same vampire that we saw from the river, was there, carrying her.

From what I could remember, he’s Gusev…

“And she was sleeping…she was almost attacked by the enemies earlier, you know. Good thing I came.” Gusev started to explain.

But I gotta have it to him for keeping Kira safe here when Alpha Ace and I failed to do so.

I could hear Alpha Ace growling beside me, not clearly happy at the view in front of him, “Gusev. Get her here. Right f*cking now!”

I blinked, so that’s why Kira was scared that Alpha Ace would find out that Gusev is here….

He seemed to be too possessive and protective of his mate. Overly.

And speaking of mate, I wonder where the hell Kai goes to? I couldn’t sense his scent around….
