Chapter 24 Lambing
<Mia>
"If my wife doesn't come home tonight, you're all dead!" he said with a menacing grin. His chest tightened with anger.
Rose suddenly looked at me and exclaimed.
"Ma'am!" She tried to grab everyone's attention, including mine.
Before I could react, Ethan grabbed me tightly and dragged me towards our room.
"Ethan, what are you doing?"
I struggled against his grip. His aura was terrifying, his fists clenched tightly, and he seemed like he could hurt someone.
"Where the hell have you been, huh?!" he angrily shouted as he pushed me inside. He locked the door and confronted me with fury in his eyes. His gaze turned dark.
"I called you many times, and why did you turn off your phone, huh?! Damn it! Where did you go, Mia?!" he exploded.
He reacted as if I had gone to another country and just returned home now.
What is this man's problem?
I tried to stay strong in front of him, even though I was scared and on the verge of tears. I wanted to hide.
"I-I just went out," I nervously replied to him.
"I told you to wait for me!" he angrily ran his hands through his hair.
"You left without telling me and you ran away from the household helpers!"
I stepped back.
"W-what! Why are you yelling and getting angry?!" I asked, fear evident in my voice.
His anger intensified at my question.
"What do you want me to react, huh?! You left without saying a word, and I've been searching for you for two hours! I even went to your parents' house! No one knows where you went!" His eyes were turning red with fury.
He took a step closer to me, gripping my arm tightly as his eyes darkened with anger. His face was filled with rage.
"Answer my question! Where did you go?!" he demanded forcefully.
Fearful of him, I suddenly burst into tears in front of him.
"I just went out to get some fresh air," I said trembling with fear.
"Really?!" he mocked, "and you're coming home late at night?! And guess what?! You turned off your phone for a purpose!" he accused me. All purpose cream.
"No! My phone ran out of battery!" I blurted out.
He suddenly grabbed my bag and rummaged through it. What was he doing? I realized his intention when he found my cellphone and opened it. He grew even angrier at what he saw.
"Do you think you can lie to me?!" he shouted.
I averted my gaze.
"E-Ethan, I-I just went out again..." I cried, my voice trembling.
"Why do you need to keep lying to me, huh? How many times have you lied to me, and do you think I can still believe you?" he said with bitterness in his voice.
I just cried in front of him.
"You're making me angry," he said softly.
"I just went out to get some fresh air..." I repeated.
"With whom?" He gave me a sharp stare.
I looked in another direction. My neck was sore from looking up at him; he was so tall.
"I-I was alone," I lied again. He couldn't find out that I was with Hermoine.
"Just make sure you're telling the truth!" he threatened with a fierce look in his eyes.
I nodded at him while sniffling. He was terrifying.
"You'll stay here and you can't go out until I say so. I'll hire a bodyguard to patrol around the house. Since you can handle the household staff, maybe I can use Nathan's bodyguards," he said and then left me.
Feeling weak, I sat down on the floor. He surpassed my pops.
He left me alone. I was already broken-hearted, and now he wanted to imprison me in this house. I felt anguish, despair, and disgust.
I cried for an hour and sulked for another. I looked at the clock. Why hadn't he invited me for dinner yet? It's already midnight.
Is he angry with me?
I approached the door and was surprised to find it open. It was a miracle; they usually kept it locked. I couldn't go out and they just brought me food.
As I stepped outside, the whole house was eerily quiet. Where was Ethan?
I went to the living room and checked Ethan's cars. They were all there. He was still inside the house, maybe in his experiment room.
Sniffling, I sat down on the sofa.
"Rose!" I called when I saw her passing by.
"Ma'am," she said nervously. She approached me.
"Do you need something?"
"Did you see Ethan?" I asked her while sniffing.
"Ah, he's in his working room, I don't think he has come out yet," she replied.
I didn't respond and dismissed her.
Is he angry with me? He rarely goes there and doesn't stay for long because he often stays close to me.
I went to his working room and slowly opened the door. I saw him, his gaze fixed on the papers in his hands, his forehead creased. He seemed busy. I decided not to disturb him. I was scared because he was angry with me and he looked serious.
I decided to return to our room and found Lorena calling me. I answered her call.
"I've been calling you for hours, and you're not answering!" Lorena's stressed voice greeted me.
I lay on the bed with my phone pressed to my right ear.
"Hey!" she said when I didn't respond.
"I'm here," I said apathetically.
"Your husband is looking for you again, he's furious and wants to hurt someone! Where did you go, huh?!" she yelled on the other end of the line.
"Nowhere," I replied with no enthusiasm.
"You're a woman, get yourself together. You're lucky to have Ethan," she lectured me.
"Do you know where Yunnie is?" I changed the topic.
"Mia, hmm..." she seemed hesitant about whether she should tell me or not.
"Since you're already hurt, I might as well hurt you more. Yunnie has a new boyfriend. They're together now, living in."
My world stopped.
"They're together with his boyfriend in their hometown. Don't worry, you have a husband, and I know that your handsome husband loves you," she added.
My tears started flowing uncontrollably.
"Hey, are you okay?" Lorena asked with concern, but I didn't answer her.
"It's so fast," I commented.
"Well, Yunnie decided to be with his boyfriend and they came to see me to say their goodbyes. They traveled together. They're in the town where his boyfriend lives. Don't worry, you're married and I know that your handsome husband loves you-" I hung up the call and burst into tears.
How long will I continue to be hurt?
Amidst my loud cries, it could be heard from outside. I started throwing and smashing the things near me, creating a loud noise.
I grabbed a vase and threw it. I also threw the frames in the room, and one of them got damaged.
"Ma'am?! Oh no, madam!" I looked at Rose, who was already in my room and was surprised by what she saw.
"Oh no! Call sir!" Rose commanded nervously, and I realized that Pina was with her. They hurriedly went to find Ethan.
Seeing the mess in the room, Ethan's angry reaction was immediate.
"What the fck?!" he exclaimed, his eyes widening at the sight. The room was in complete disarray.
"Wife, stay there! Don't move!" he said in horror.
"Ethan..." I sobbed and embraced him tightly.
He pulled away from the hug and led me to the guest room.
"Baby, what's the problem, huh?" he asked with concern as he released me onto the bed.
I just hugged him again and cried into his shoulder. He gently cursed under his breath.
"Hush now, I'm here," he continued to stroke my back.
"Don't cry," he pleaded, trying to comfort me.
"Tell me," he said gently, turning my face towards him and softly wiping away my tears.
"you had been crying. Hmm," he spoke affectionately, kissing my forehead.
"I don't want to see you crying; it hurts me," his gaze softened.
"Tell me why you're crying, huh? Who made you cry?" His jaw tightened slightly. "I'll hunt that shit down."
"You're angry at me," I reasoned. Yes, that's right. Ethan is angry with me, and that's why I'm crying. I'm not used to him being mad at me, like earlier.
If I tell him about Yunnie, we might end up arguing again, and it could be a reason for him to restrict me from leaving the house.
"I'm sorry," he gently kissed my forehead. He softly cursed again as more tears streamed from my eyes.
"Stop crying, please? It scares me... I'm not mad," he softly reassured me while continuing to wipe away the tears on my cheeks.
"You’re angry at me..." I stammered, trembling.
"You're making me cry. I hate you." I said it like a child.
Fear flickered in his eyes.
"No, don't hate me. I'm sorry. Forgive me, wife. Please?" his eyes pleaded with me.
"I'm not mad at you. Okay?"
He kissed my forehead for a long time.
"Fuck!... Stop crying!" he said fearfully when I couldn't seem to stop.
"What do you want me to do, huh? Hurt me if you want."
"You're just making me cry, hurting m- me..." I sniffled, "and you didn't even feed me." It seemed like a childish complaint.
"I'm sorry," he said guiltily.
"I was calming myself and didn't notice the time." He looked remorseful.
"What do you want to eat, hmm? I'll cook," he softly offered, our faces inches apart.
I shook my head at him.
"You're neglecting me, making me hungry. You didn't even invite me to eat."
It wasn't really the reason I was crying, but it felt like the reason now. I felt hurt when the two hours passed without him returning to the room, unlike the previous day. He was trying to force me to eat when I didn't want to.
He gave me a slight smile.
"What does my baby want to eat, hmm? I'll cook, my peace offering," his voice was deep and gentle.
"I don't want to," I pouted.
"C'mon, I'm sorry," he repeated his apology.
"Did Pina give you milk?" he changed the topic.
"I threw it at her," I said bravely. I had yelled at them earlier because I was crying and they were disturbing me again.
"How about your favorite restaurant? I'll order our dinner from there," he suggested.
"They're already closed, and it's late," I hugged him.
"Hmm, I guess my baby wants a cuddle."
I nodded as my head rested on his shoulder, holding onto him tightly.
"Okay, let's cuddle." He laid me down on the bed and positioned himself next to me. He embraced me, placing my head on his chest while gently stroking my hair.
"What do you want to eat, wife?" he asked again.
"I don't feel like eating," I mumbled sleepily as he continued to caress my hair, his touch soothing.
"Where did you go? You haven't told me yet," he inquired further.
I responded with a different question, "I don't want to eat, Ethan," maintaining my playful tone.
"How about some milk? You need to eat, baby. You only had an apple earlier," he suggested.
"I ate all the fruits Rose gave me!" I raised my voice slightly, irritated by that woman. Rose kept offering me different fruits throughout the day, and I finished all of them.
"But you didn't eat rice, and you're refusing to have dinner again. Let's eat," he insisted firmly.
I shook my head against his chest, hiding my face in his neck. I sniffed his scent, the pleasant fragrance of this man. Even his sweat smelled good. On the other hand, my own sweat smelled foul, but fortunately, he was accustomed to my scent and never complained.
