Chapter 25 Higpit
<Mia>
"Have you eaten?" I asked him this time.
"Not yet," he replied shortly.
"Why didn't your twin brother feed you? He left early and came home before me, so I got annoyed," I complained.
"We ate, but I wanted us to eat together," he said in a playful tone.
I was really getting drowsy with his hair stroking.
"Wife, let's eat. I'll cook whatever you want," he insisted.
Earlier, he said he would cook, and now he wants me to decide. This man is so confusing.
I slapped him to make him stop talking.
"Mia!" he said abruptly.
I closed my eyes tightly and ignored him.
Let him be. I'm feeling tired now. I'll cry again tomorrow, maybe in the afternoon when he's not home. I know he'll go to work tomorrow. He needs to go to work because he's running out of money. His bank account balance is getting low.
His twin brother is wealthy, but his own account doesn't even reach a million.
I wonder why.
"Give me a goodnight kiss before you sleep."
I wasn't sure if he actually said that or if it was just my imagination. I fell asleep completely.
When I woke up the next morning, he was lying on top of me with one hand wrapped around my belly.
I looked at him, and he looked so peaceful in his sleep. He seemed comfortable in that position, with his mouth slightly open.
I released myself from his embrace, and he woke up. Just like I always do, I washed up and went to the kitchen.
"Oh, madam, you're awake!" Rose said cheerfully as she prepared the food.
"Good morning, ma'am!" Pina greeted me with a slight smile.
"Madam, here's your milk," Rose handed me a glass of milk. I raised an eyebrow.
"Why do I always have milk in the morning? Am I a baby?"
they paused their tasks as I raised an eyebrow at them.
"Well, it's Sir's instruction to have you drink milk in the morning and evening, and to always feed you nutritious food," Rose explained.
Without saying a word, I stood up and went into our room. I woke up Ethan.
"Ethan, wake up!" I shook him.
I was about to wake him up, but then I realized he didn't have an upper garment and who knows what Rose did to him.
"Ethan!" I said in annoyance and slapped him. Finally, he woke up.
He looked at me sleepily.
"Good morning," he greeted me with a serious expression. He still seemed sleepy, and his voice sounded husky.
"Cook me something," I demanded, pouting.
"I don't like what Rose cooked."
He closed his eyes for a moment and opened them again, still looking sleepy. He seemed really drowsy.
"What did she cook?" he asked in a monotone.
I furrowed my brow at his behavior, but I didn't pay him any attention.
"Hurry up, I'm hungry. I'll wait for you in the kitchen." I left him there without any complaints. Usually, in the mornings, he would sweet-talk me first.
I shooed the two of them out of the kitchen, and Ethan had already washed up, although his hair was still messy. He was wearing a white shirt. He only had clothes in our room.
"I want pancakes with strawberry syrup," I demanded as he started rummaging through the kitchen utensils.
He didn't respond.
I frowned because he didn't even bother to ask me what I wanted for breakfast.
"Hmmm, I want juice, Ethan. I don't like milk in the morning. It makes me feel sleepy." I leaned back in my chair and watched him silently cooking.
He still didn't pay any attention to me.
I approached him.
"Ethan," I called his name, but he still ignored me.
I hugged him from behind.
"Are you sulking?" I asked while still clinging to him.
"I'm cooking, Mia." There it is, he mentioned my name.
I turned him to face me, but he remained unfazed.
"Stop it, you might burn something," he said, trying to make me let go of him.
"Face me for a moment," I insisted, but I couldn't because he was much bigger and taller than me. I couldn't reach his lips even if I tiptoed.
He turned off the stove before facing me.
"Lean against me."
He followed me silently.
I quickly kissed him on the lips.
"Good morning!" I said with a smile.
"There, don't sulk anymore."
He seemed surprised by my actions, his ears turning red. This was the first time I kissed him like that.
"Hey, stop sulking!" I nudged him.
"Sorry, I was really sleepy last night," I pouted.
I kissed him on the lips again. What was meant to be a simple peck, he turned it into a deeper kiss. He snuck his hand around my waist and kissed me passionately and gently.
He released me and looked into my eyes sincerely.
"That's the proper way to kiss your husband," he demanded.
"You're not mad anymore?" I asked happily.
He shook his head at me, his eyes brightening.
"No juice, only water," he said sternly, causing me to pout.
"Water is boring!" I complained to him.
We ate our breakfast together, and I only had pancakes with a pout.
"Chocolate syrup is available. No strawberry, wife," he said.
"No! I don't want that!" I protested as he was about to pour the syrup on my pancake.
"We don't have strawberry syrup, and no juice either."
I grumbled.
"I won't eat then."
I was about to stand up, but he stopped me.
"Mia, stay here," he said firmly.
"Do you want us to fight again? Sit down and eat," he always took charge in the mornings because of me. We always clashed and couldn't agree on anything. It had come to a point where we would argue in the morning. It seemed like this had become our routine. My morning wouldn't be complete if I didn't pick a fight or irritate him.
I faced him.
"I don't want water! And there's no strawberry syrup!" I said like a child.
"No juice. You only drink water," he said seriously. We locked eyes.
"I won't eat then."
He stood up and approached me, making me sit down again while he sat next to me.
"I really don't want to eat!" I grumbled just as he was about to feed me again.
"Don't test me."
I fell silent at his words.
"I'll let you drink juice next month."
"Why next month?! I can have it now, and today is the same as next month!" I reasoned.
"You have a UTI. I let you drink with your friends, and you've been neglecting your health, so just drink water for now," he insisted.
"That has no flavor, I don't want water!"
"That's why it's called water," he retorted.
"How about coke?" I grinned.
"Not this early in the morning."
I shrugged my shoulders and looked at him.
"You're so strict!" I complained. What would happen if we have a daughter? Will she be prohibited from having a boyfriend until she turns thirty? Our child would suffer from his strictness.
"I won't eat then!"
He sighed, "I'll let you drink coke later at lunch." He surrendered.
I smiled widely and clapped my hands.
"Feed me."
He started feeding me rice, and I didn't complain anymore. I didn't want him to take back what he said about the coke earlier.
He smiled slightly while shaking his head.
Silently, Ethan fed me, when suddenly Rose entered the kitchen.
"Oh, I thought you wouldn't act like a baby anymore, Madam. Why are you asking to be fed?" she asked with a mischievous smile. I gave her a glare.
"Ethan, ask her to leave!" I ordered my partner because he would listen to her since she's the one who pays her salary, not me.
"I’m just getting water, Madam!" Rose quickly grabbed a glass of water and disappeared from our sight.
"Ethan, what time will you be home?" I asked him as he packed his things. He might be late for work. Patients were waiting for him, after all. He's in high demand.
"Maybe by lunch," he replied in a reserved manner.
"You're just working a half day again?" I asked.
He nodded at me.
"We're going to the mansion." He approached me.
Fear was visible on my face as I remembered what happened the last time we went there.
"Don't worry, my uncle is banned. He is not allowed to go there anymore," he assured me in a deep voice.
"I'll go now, take care and eat a lot, okay? Eat healthy foods," he reminded me and kissed me on the forehead.
"Ethan, can Lorena come over? She said she wants to visit me," I asked him.
"Sure, wife. Keep on updating me, okay?" I nodded in response.
He kissed me again on the lips for a long time.
"Text me." He will again.
I smiled at him, "yes!" I said awkwardly.
He frowned, "I keep on texting you and I didn't receive any single reply." He said with a sullen tone. He was still slightly frowning.
I laughed, it was true. I have never replied and texted him.
"Yes! Go away, doc, because you already have a lot of blood tests to do." I joked and pushed him to his car. He groaned in protest.
He kissed me again before getting into his car. I waved to him as he left.
"Madam's morning was worth it."
I almost jumped when Rose suddenly spoke behind me.
"You're really gossipy!" I said to her annoyed and walk.
Was she still there behind me?
Gossip maid, hmmp!
I entered the house with a big smile. I don't know why I'm happy today.
I felt a bit drowsy.
I didn't realize I had dozed off until Lorena called out to me.
"Are you okay, friend?" she asked when she saw me. She was sitting on the sofa. I sat down next to her, still needing to take a shower. I'll just shower before Ethan and I leave. I don't want them to smell me.
I didn't respond to her and sat beside her.
"We're going out later, and Ethan will be home for lunch," I informed her.
"Wow, okay! I just arrived, and you're already kicking me out," she said sarcastically.
I grabbed a grape from the table; she had been here for a while. There was already a snack laid out in front of her.
"I'll join you for lunch since you always eat from my supplies and finish them off," she paused, waiting for my reaction.
I felt my stomach ache.
"Just kidding! Stay with me so I have stocks good for one year! Your husband is so generous, you know. When he finds out that you're sleeping over at my place, he gives me money to buy your food. He doesn't want you to go hungry," she teased, pinching my side, but I didn't react. "Of course, I also take some for myself, to pay for your water and electricity bills."
"Do you know where Yunnie is?" I redirected the conversation.
She mocked me.
"Where is Yunnie?” I change the subject.
“I'm really getting tired of you. Stop bothering her! You'd be better off with your husband. He keeps buying you all sorts of things and pampering you." She said it with envy.
"Unlike Kieffer, who's so stingy. I even pay for our dates. He claims he has all this money, but what does he think of my money? That it's shattered?"
She started to go on about things I didn't ask and wasn't interested in. She kept mentioning that bald Kieffer guy and how his underwear was full of holes. I had seen his briefs lying around, and I thought they were rags because they had so many holes.
"Answer my question!" I said, irritated with her.
