Chapter 34 Gift
<Mia>
I'll just pay what I spent on his account, he doesn't have any money and then I'm spending more. It was also his fault because he gave me access to everything he had.
"You told me you were busy and then you still have time to call me." I will change the topic again.
"I miss you." He said awkwardly. I bet he's already frowning.
"Even! We'll see each other later." I said smiling.
"Also, Ethan, my sister is going to pick me up. They said I was being picked up," I informed him, "we are being sent to the house and I don't know why. My sister is going to pick me up, should I go with her?" I say goodbye and he might get angry again and make a drama that I left him.
It took a long time before he spoke, "take care okay? Wait me there. I'll end my work very quickly." He answered me in a deep voice.
"Don't go too fast or you'll fall." I joked with him.
“Tsk!”
This man is really ugly. She menstruates everyday, hihi.
I looked at the clock and decided to take a shower. I think I didn't take a bath yesterday.
I opened my closet but I looked at Ethan's closet, I felt like I wanted to wear his clothes. He also has hoodies and he only wears them once in a while.
"Wife." He called me annoyed when I didn't answer, "why you're not talking? And what are you doing?”
I was rummaging through his closet and he seems to have more clothes than me. Because I'm an outfit repeater and I don't always buy clothes.
"I'm going to take a shower, I'm going to be sticky and then I'm going to leave, eh. Maybe my sister is here and I haven't taken a bath yet. It's always in a hurry." I told him and snorted.
"Okay, I'll hang up this call. I know you don't want to talk to me." He said with a sullen tone.
I didn't answer and I took the lead in killing the call. I know he will be angry with what I did. I giggled at the silly things I was doing. I really enjoyed teasing that man. He is quick to get angry and then always irritated. He is irritated by my rudeness even though he won't admit it.
"What is this? Why is it small?"
Even small clothes he has not thrown away.
I took a large white box and opened it.
Is Ethan hiding something like this here?
I scraped the contents of that box and removed the contents so I could see everything better.
I gasped at what I saw.
I looked behind when I heard a car horn. I hastily closed the box and put all the contents back.
I looked out the window and saw my sister's car. I'm going to take a shower! If I haven't taken a bath today.
It's early in the morning for her to pick me up.
My sister picked me up in the afternoon and we are now at home.
"Where is Ethan, son" My mother asked me when she saw me.
"He’s at work, and he said he'll just come later," I answered her.
It's been a while since I last visited this house, and most of the memories associated with it haven't been pleasant.
My mother smiled at me, looking happy today.
"How's your relationship with him?" she asked while gently stroking my hair, as she always does.
"I'm doing fine," I replied shortly while playing with the dog on my lap.
"It seems like you're gaining weight, my child. Looks like you're happy with your husband, huh?" My mom teased while pinching my arm.
"I'm not eating too much."
"By the way, your dad has something for you," she said with a wide grin.
I furrowed my brow, wondering what the old man would give me. He only gives me gifts when I do something he likes.
"What did I do that was good?" I asked curiously.
"Just wait, dear. Your father has something to give both of you... So I hope, my child, that you listen to us and your dad, because we are doing this for your own good," she said while fixing my hair.
"We are happy that you and Ethan will soon celebrate your fourth wedding anniversary."
Oh, right, our 4th wedding anniversary is coming up. We've been together for quite a long time now.
"I am happy that you are in good hands. I can see how he takes care of you, so I am reassured that he won't leave you," she said.
I faced her, "Mom, are you saying goodbye?" I asked, my brows furrowing, "Don't tell me you're sick."
She just laughed, "Not yet! I can still see my grandchild through you! I am just happy that Ethan is a good husband and that he takes care of you. I am happy that someone is looking after you."
Why would she mention someone taking care of me? I'm not sick, right? I touched my forehead to check for a fever. Maybe I'm unwell, and I didn't even realize it.
She continued fixing my hair. It seems like Mom missed me. Well, she should miss me!
As for my sister, I didn't know where she went. She left right after dropping me off.
Ethan arrived two hours later, actually, he was quite late. We were already having dinner when he showed up.
"I visited the hospital, and we had a meeting. That's why I'm late," he whispered to me.
He was explaining why he was late.
I went to pick him up at the door because he's being dramatic! He said he wanted to see me first. We walked towards the dining area where everyone else was.
Our family is small, unlike Ethan's family, which is huge. I always get confused with them, and I heard they have a tradition of marrying doctors. The strange thing is, I'm not a doctor. Well, Nathan's girlfriend isn't a doctor either. I'm pretty sure she won't be a doctor; it's too much studying, and I'm not that smart.
I saw my sister feeding her son while sitting next to her husband. She married a businessman, and their marriage seems fine. I haven't heard of any problems between my sister and her husband. Meanwhile, in our case with Ethan, he's the one having issues with me.
My parents want the best for us, which is why they insist on being involved in choosing our spouses. They can be perfectionists and choosy, even though they're not royalty. They tend to be judgmental about someone's social status. I guess it's because they are wealthy. Both of my parents are rich kids, but they weren't products of arranged marriages; it's just us, their children.
"Dad Ethan!" my sister greeted him, but her husband just gave him a nod.
"Why did you come late? I have been waiting for you," my dad said to him.
"I'm sorry, a sudden meeting came up," Ethan apologized while pulling a chair for me, and I noticed my mom was observing us.
Our dinner went well, and now we're in the living room, resting and bonding together.
"Wow! That bag is so beautiful! Dad really favors you, giving you three bags as gifts!" my sister commented as we looked at the bags dad gave me. The Gucci bag is cute, pink in color, with a chain handle.
"You're his favorite there! He always gives you gifts!" I frowned.
"Look, he even gave you a car! While I've never received anything like that!" I said, sounding a bit resentful.
We were all in the living room.
She laughed, "Well, he knows you'll use it for foolishness and might even run away." She teased, laughing.
"And besides, I deserve this, sis," she winked at me.
I used to have a car too, actually. It was a gift from Ethan, but I sold it. He gave it to me, and I sold it. Hihi.
"This is my gift to both of you... for your 4th wedding anniversary."
I turned to where Ethan and my parents were sitting, and my eyes widened when I saw the house key.
"Don't you have a car there too?" I whispered. Wow, he's also giving us a car, along with the house. Last year, he gave us a land because it was our 3rd wedding anniversary, and it was 3 hectares in size.
He should have given four gifts to us... I glanced at the three bags I already had. Three bags and one house. Dad is really amazing.
"Why did he give this bag to you? He should have given it to me because I love this brand." My sister said while holding a bag and inspecting it.
"Let's exchange your car for it!" I raised my voice slightly.
"I don't want to! You might sell it again!" She retorted, laughing. She knows all the mischief I get up to and everything that's happening in my life. "Promise me you won't sell the house Dad gave you, okay?" She teased, giving me a knowing look.
I shot her a glare in return. She's just messing with me.
I sighed and continued packing my things. She really knows how to get on my nerves.
"What's it to you what we did with the land? Don't you know you have no right to ask about that?" I retorted, trying to control my irritation.
She raised an eyebrow, seemingly unfazed by my response. "Okay, okay. Is it forbidden to ask? You're so touchy. I thought we were close?" She teased, but I could see a hint of concern in her eyes.
"We are close, but that doesn't mean you should know every detail of my life," I replied, sighing again and trying to calm down. "Sorry, it's just... complicated."
She nodded understandingly, "I get it. I just worry about you, you know? Sometimes it seems like you're trying to escape from everything."
I didn't know how to respond to that, so I just shrugged and continued packing. I knew she meant well, but there were just some things I wasn't ready to share with her yet. I needed to figure things out on my own.
"I don't know about that man! Nothing is mentioned to me." I frowned, "maybe he plans to build a laboratory." I giggled.
"Ouch!" I reacted when she suddenly hit me. I glared at her.
"Mom! Look at sister hurting!” I reported but I was ignored.
"It's good that doc Ethan is patient and doesn't leave you even if you give him a headache." she commented shaking her head. His name is actually Doc Ethan, and he's used to it.
I flayed him.
He laughed at my teasing, and I couldn't help but smile back. "Okay, fine. Maybe we're just more generous people," she teased back.
I playfully rolled my eyes at hier. "Yeah, right. You and your family are just showering us with gifts every chance you get."
she chuckled, knowing I was just messing with him. "Well, maybe we just love spoiling you. You deserve it."
I couldn't argue with that. He did spoil me with his love and care, and I couldn't ask for more. But the bags he gave me did make me want to show them off.
"I should start a live selling session. Sell off some of your things to make up for it," I joked, pretending to be serious.
He raised an eyebrow at me. "Oh really? And what are you planning to sell, exactly?"
I pretended to think for a moment. "Hmm, your old clothes, maybe? Or some of your gadgets?"
He laughed heartily. "You're not serious, are you?"
"Of course not. I wouldn't trade anything you've given me for the world."
He leaned in and kissed my forehead. "Good, because I wouldn't trade you for anything either."
In that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of love and happiness. Material gifts were nice, but the love we shared was far more precious. As long as we had each other, that was all that mattered.
*
"Are you happy?" Doc looked at me while one of his hands was holding my hand.
I was smiling earlier, that's why they sent us to give their gift to us.
“Yes!” I Giggle, "sister is jealous because she didn't get a bag as a gift! Also, did you know that we are the only ones who get presents every year!” I told him, "but he gave her a car even though her husband could buy it for ten." I frowned.
"Why me, I don't have a car?"
"Because you sold it." He said bitterly.
He was angry with me when he found out. He even asked me if what he was giving me was not enough.
"No, I was scammed." I'm lying but I'm smiling widely.
"Of all the scammers, you are the happy one." He said shaking his head.
I just laughed, knowing that he wouldn't believe it.
He kissed my hand while his focus was on the road.
"Fairy… she's beautiful, isn't she." I open up so we can have a topic.
"I don't know." Out of the nose he said.
"She's beautiful and her brunetteness suits her. she is also tall, I feel she can be in the pageant."
He didn't answer.
