Chapter 35 False Alarm
I sighed in disappointment.
“Disgusting, bad breath!” I looked at the woman standing beside me; she covered her mouth.
I bit my lower lip.
“What the heck is that smell?!”
I forgot to brush my teeth, but I just brushed them yesterday night, so it's okay, and I used mouthwash before I left the house. It's fine with me. It's OK not to brush your teeth, especially if you are lazy like me or in a hurry. Mouthwash is fine.
I will smell my mouth later.
I forgot to answer the caller.
I slide the answer button.
“Selena Gomez! My artist friend! Where are you?!” I heard Yvaline yell at the other line.
The elevator opened, and we came in.
“I am at the company; why?”
“Don't tell me you forgot about your birthday? It's your birthday tomorrow, will we celebrate in the bar again? Same like the old days?” There's a pleasing voice in her voice.
Even though I am not seeing her, I know she is making puppy eyes; she likes to do that; weirdly, she is not a puppy.
She giggles.
“I will bring someone later if you have plans to do the old days.”
I knew it. Lufita will never learn her lesson.
I forgot that it's my birthday tomorrow.
We used to celebrate it for two days. They are waiting for my birthdays; I am lucky to have my friends.
“I am not sure about this thing,” I whispered on my phone's speaker.
“Huh, why? Are you going to celebrate it with your husband, alone?” She makes me remember again.
Until now, he has not called me.
“I don't know,” I sighed a little bit so they wouldn't smell my breath again.
I want to smell my breath right now and know how bad it smells.
I just want to lay on my bed all night. I am not in the mood.
“I’ll just call you again, okay? Save that man.”
I ended her call without waiting for her answer.
I heard a ring bell.
“Shileyn!” I saw our head department. She is holding a paper.
“Can you go to the ABC company? My secretary forgot to bring these important documents. She is on her way to that company; you might see her.”
I nodded my head.
'`You know where ABC company is, right?’ I nodded my head again. That's the extension of our company.
She gave me the folders.
‘If you didn't see my secretary in the company, ask for Mrs. church and give these to her; I already called her office. Thank you,” she smiled at me.
“I'll just put my things.”
I didn't bother to look at the papers and entered the elevator when I finished putting my bag on my table.
This folder is heavy.
I fanned myself as soon as I was outside the company. It was boiling.
Summer is waving.
I am waiting for the taxi. I commute whenever I go to work, sometimes with a driver, but it rarely happens.
I was patiently waiting for a taxi when I felt wet on my shoulder. I touched it, and I saw blood dripping on it.
My hands were shaking, and I got pale when I saw the blood.
The folders that I was holding fell to the ground.
“B-blood,” I am scared of wounds.
I flinched when another bullet hit me again.
I look at the building in front of me.
I saw a man holding a gun. He smirked at me.
My sight is getting blurry.
I woke up in my bedroom in our village.
I looked around, and I saw no one.
I am thirsty. Why am I here?
I touch where I got shot, and it hurts.
“A-aww!”
I slowly and gently lean on the headboard of the bed. I am in my room.
My clothes are different, who changes my clothes?
There's a bandage on my shoulder where I got shot.
I am thirsty.
“Sissy!” Yvaline came and held the water.
I lift my hand.
“What happened?” She gave me the water and drank it all.
She looks worried.
“Someone brought you to the hospital, and the hospitals called me since I was on the first list in your contact.”
She looks worried.
“It's your birthday, yet you got shot; what a happy birthday gift,” she caresses my hair.
I look at the door as if I am expecting someone.
“Oh, wait, Layla is here too. Do you hear that megaphone voice?” She kept silent, and I heard Layla's voice. I don't understand what she is saying, but she's screaming.
She is always aloud.
“I brought you a gift,” she pouted her lips. I look the beside the table.
“T-thank you ve-very much,” I said weakly.
“Why am I home?”
“OMG, Sicily! You are awake,” Layla ran to me and sat beside me.
“We are all worried about you; what happened, huh? Who shot you?!” She caresses my face.
I saw brother Ethan at her back.
“Layla, do you think she knows who shot her?” Yvaline asked her, you lost your brain again.'' She mocks her.
“Hmmph! I am just worried!” She rolled her eyes.
“Do you want apples or oranges? You are lucky you stayed alive; that gunman is a good shooter; he didn't shoot you in the head or chest.”
Avail spanks her, “do you want her to die?!”
“Of course not! She is my sissy forever, duh. Can you get out and talk to your new man!” Layla pushes Yvlaine.
“How are you feeling?” brother Ethan asked me. He is a doctor but a pathologist.
“It's just a shot in the shoulder if it's not severe. You don't have anything to worry about,” Ethan’s eyes are gloomy. They didn't have a life.
I look down.
I am shy of him; he is too gentle and loving. I want to spank my friend Mia for hurting him.
“Next time, be careful. Don't go to work until you are not recovering,” Ethan informed me.
I didn't notice that I was in dextrose.
I played with my fingers as I bit my lower bit hard.
"And eat a lot of healthy foods, veggies, and fruit. Avoid sweets."
He is far away from me. He is in front of me.
"By the way, I wish you a happy day today. My twin and I have gifts in the living room."
I looked at him.
"Thank y-you."
"I guess you won't talk. I decided to transfer you here since it's a good thing if you stay in the house. You will recover fast."
I want to ask if he is fine and how he is doing. I haven't seen his baby. I heard she's beautiful.
"There will be a family doctor to come here. I already contacted our family doctor to look up you and about the expenses, don't worry about it. Your husband will shoulder it."
I am just nodding my head to Ethan as an answer.
We heard the door open, and the last person I was expecting was finally here.
"Wife."
I looked at Kier.
There's a small dark circle under his eyes. His eye bags grow bigger.
His black polo sleeve was rolled up to his veins popping. His polo is not ironing well, and it's messy. Kier's two buttons on his polo are open.
"I will leave you two."
I didn't notice brother Ethan left us; my attention was just on him.
We are looking at each other's eyes.
I don't know what I should feel.
My heart reacted again.
His hair is messy. Based on my conclusion, he didn't sleep for days and rushed here.
He looks tired too.
I swallowed when his adam's apple moved.
He walked near me without breaking our eye contact.
"Wife,” Kier called me again.
I close my eyes to feel it. I hope I am not dreaming.
I saw longing, happiness, sadness, and a lot of emotion in his eyes.
Is he sad that he got home early?
He looks at my bandage.
He sat beside me and held my cheeks.
"What are you doing here?" I said strongly.
I saw the pain in his eyes. Pain,.for what?
"I'm sorry,” he said weakly.
I laughed sarcastically.
"What are you doing here? I don't need you here!" I yelled at him.
I see fear in his eyes.
I push his hand away from my cheeks.
How dare he touch me? After that, he didn't answer my calls and didn't call me!
"Get out! I don't need you here!" I couldn't stop myself from crying.
What a shame! I don't know why I am crying. For what reason? Because he is finally here?
"Wife… let's not fight,” he begged.
He is holding himself to embrace me.
"I'm sorry, I was b-busy." He swallowed.
"No, don't touch me!" I push him when he tries to hug me.
He is about to hug me when I push him and slap him.
His face faces the north side. I use my force and strength.
I want him to know that I am mad, so mad.
I want to slap him again. I can't get enough.
"Get out and don't come back!" I yelled.
"I'm sorry. I tried to finish my work so I could go home early,” Kier explains.
Liar!
This was my first time seeing him as weak, vulnerable, and scared. Why is he afraid? What for?
"Wife, please. Calm down," his voice broke.
"Nooo! I don't want to see your face! Get the hell out of here! Didn't you read my messages?! I said I don't come back anymore! Because when you come, we are divorced! Don't show me your face ever again!" I yelled out of my lungs.
“Get Out! Get out!"
He holds my pulse.
I heard him curse.
"Please don't cry. I will explain. Please let's not fight, “ Kier begged, and I saw tears in Kier’s eyes.
He didn't talk.
“I hate you!” I look at his eyes while saying those words.
“You are just fooling me,'' I accused him.
“You are a liar! You didn't go there for a business meeting!”
I wiped my tears hard.
