Chapter 48 Suspicions
“You didn't have to do this. It's not like I'm dead,” Alfredo said when Sydney brought him breakfast in bed. He wasn't shot. However, the woman was treating him like a special case.
“I know… it's just that I can't let you die without giving me my first salary,” Sydney said and watched him eat. Alfredo gave a helpless smile,
“So all this is about money?”
“Yeah… I've worked for two weeks … if you die I won't ever get my payment,” Sydney remarked, she felt bad about all this. As much as she wished for the Garcias to pay. It wasn't clear to her why witnessing the scene the previous night made her agitated. Someone tried to shoot Alfredo, just like they did with Luciano.
“I'm sure you would have loved it if… I died… that way you would have gotten your revenge,” Alfredo said while eating his food. She made delicious omelets. And pancakes just the way he liked it. It had been a while since he ate good food prepared with love.
Silence fell in the room. Sydney swore her breathing could be heard? Looking at Alfredo eating, her heart ached.
“Alfredo… please tell me the truth… that night… Was it a distraction?” Sydney asked softly. She wanted to know. Since that night, she had tried to convince herself it wasn't a distraction.
“I already said it and I'll say it again… things were out of my control,” Alfredo started lowering his gaze. Suddenly, he didn't feel like eating. He was caught up in something he didn't know, and now the consequences were presenting themselves in the cruelest way.
“You knew about everything… you tricked me into…”
“What happened between us wasn't a distraction… you found me when I was about to die… do you think I'd be so heartless as to hurt myself just to distract you,” Alfredo cut her off, he was irritated with her. The fact that she dared to question him made him angry. Sydney stared at him blankly, she didn't trust anyone in this life. So many people were deceitful. Pretending to be good when they were bad.
“I see… I'll leave now… you should stay at home for now,” Sydney remarked and grabbed her purse. Alfredo didn't have to go to the office if the person who wanted him died. It was still out there.
“Does it matter… I'm sure the universe will be happy if I died,” Alfredo said sarcastically and shoved the plate of food away. Sydney didn't say anything, but left. Her job was done. She did good things despite everything.
Alfredo sat in his bed, staring at the wall. This was getting out of hand. Someone was attacking in the shadows. He needed to get to the bottle of the matter.

Meanwhile, Ira was pacing in the living room nonstop. Zane was sipping on water while Gabby was busy on his laptop.
“I mean, how can she disappear like that… even Pedro is missing,“ She said waving her hands in the air? Zane was already in a bad mood to bother Olivia…his main problem was Alfredo.
“You know, the Garcias always get away with everything,” Gabby said, knowing full well Zane had done something stupid again. Ira sat down and turned to Zane.
“Did you try to kill Alfredo?” she asked, arching her brows at him. Zane remained quiet. He would rather not say anything, knowing the woman he wanted was caring for another man.
“If you want her… just abduct her… fair play“ gabby commented in between chuckles and Ira frowned at him.
“Gabby, shut your mouth… Sydney isn't a toy, okay… plus she's Olivia's friend, ” Ira warned. She understood Zane more…he liked Sydney in a crazy way.
“That's not necessary… she's on the wrong team… Zane should make her his… that Garcia dickhead has to die,” Gabby shot at Ira. As a woman she had no say in everything, Zane was Pedro's right hand. If he wanted a woman, then he had to get her.
“But Syd and that man have a thing going on… I saw her… she has feelings for him” Ira and Gabby continued arguing about who was better. Of course, Gabby hosted the idea of any man from Garcia to being close to Sydney or Olivia. Ira knew Sydney liked Alfredo in some way.
“That's enough!” Zane cut them off and the two went quiet. Gabby continued what he was doing while Ira took out her phone.
“Clean the mess Zane… now I'm pretty sure Alfredo knows someone is trying to kill him, “Gabby said when Zane rose to his feet and stormed out of the living room.
Zane left the living room and went upstairs. He hated Alfredo Garcia more than anything. If he had to hurt him, then so be it.

“Mom, please don't move… you are still hurt” Bianca said with heavy breaths as she tried to keep Antonia from hurting herself. She was just recovering from her injuries.
“Why didn't you tell me… How did this happen? “How is my son?” Antonia said and threw everything around her. The servants couldn't hold her. Bianca already called Alfredo, so he could do something about it.
“This is why it's okay. Luciano is fine… He's out of danger” it was difficult to get Antonia in control.
“I need to see him…who dared to hurt my son!” Antonia shouted angrily and managed to shove everyone away.
“Please leave us” Bianca ordered the servants to leave and then ran out of the room for fear of being killed by their angry boss.
“I'll kill them all… how dare they keep this from me”
“Calm down… very soon we'll know who is doing this… plus I have good news for you,” Bianca said when his mom was fully calm? Antonia nodded and sat down, “drink this and don't stress yourself”.
“What good news…”
“Lia will be out soon… the lawyer and Alfredo managed to convince the judge to set her tree, “Bianca said with a smile. Very soon, her sister was going to be released from jail. Antonia smiled, knowing full well Alfredo did something good for the first time.
“And where is Alfredo?” Antonia asked and drank her water.
“Mom. I have my suspicions… I mean those letters sent to us… I think there's something we don't know here” Bianca whispered, she had asked someone to make sure no one was disguising themselves as Olivia… everyone knew Olivia and her family died.
Luciano personally killed Olivia. Bianca and Antonia were there to make sure her brother did the job.
“You are right… could it be that girl” Antonia asked, turning to look at her daughter? Someone sent her a letter threatening Olivia Altamirano. Days later, people came to her house and attacked her.
Luciano was shot. She suspected Olivia's friend. However, the chances didn't seem favorable. Sydney was just a lost girl. Nothing special about her.
“Is your brother still seeing that girl?” Antonia asked. She forbade Alfredo from involving himself with a classless girl like Sydney.
“He's unpredictable…but we need to keep an eye on him,” Bianca said. The last time she said something about Sydney. Alfredo nearly tugged her to death.
“Ask someone to keep an eye on her… her friends and who she talks to… She might just lead us to the master mind” Antonia added. She was certain there was more to the story than what meets the eye.
“But mom, could it be… I mean… he died right…there's only one person who can do this?” Bianca said suspiciously, after countless thoughts, Antonia knew what her daughter was trying to say. Both sat there. The afternoon sky was soon turning into evening. Her family was being threatened.
“In a few days. I want you to throw a party… Immediately, Luciano recovers… throws a welcoming party for him… "Antonia said shrewdly. Her family was the best in the city. Everyone had to bow to her. That woman and her son deserved to die a thousand times more. Her only regret was that she let her have a son from her husband.
