Day of the Ball - Fort Knox - 4
Alpha Zayne Steele
Back at the Airport
In the room, they kept Alpha Zayne and Delta Rafael. It was a small square white box. The air conditioning unit was humming almost silently, and it was freezing. But it was clean, and the white lights above shone brightly.
"You are awfully quiet. Do you have a plan to get us out of here?" Rafael's handcuffed hands behind his back, he sat on one of the three chairs in the room. There was also a table.
He had been quietly observing his Alpha, who seemed distant at a time like this. And it was time they got moving.
Zayne was groggy and tired. He sat with handcuffed hands behind his back and his forehead resting on the chilly surface of the table.
He did not get to sleep well on the flight, and he had that dream again.
However, he could have sworn to the Divine Moon Goddess this time. He heard the white wolf whisper, 'You are close, my love.'
Goddess, just thinking about it now, his pores stood at attention.
Nonetheless, that had both him and Aragorn on edge ever since that stupid flight attendant had startled them abruptly out of their slumber.
He had glanced around frantically and realized he was on a flight to TL. The plane had just landed.
Then when he tried to recall exactly what he could have heard, it was all a blur.
So he was tired, pissed off that he could not recall her words clearly, though he swore that's what she said for the life of him.
Or maybe that is what he wanted her to say.
But even the nap he had taken before he caught this flight, in that dream, it was the same. But this time, in the beginning, when Zayne looked over the lake, he heard, 'Come, come quick, my love, you need to find us.'
So, in hindsight, he was yearning from the start.
The torture of waking up right before gazing upon her human form still got to him. He thought he could literally put this to the side while he focused on his mission at hand coming into this trip.
But boy, was he wrong? These reflections seemed to be occurring everywhere and anywhere, unable to stop.
Nevertheless, tonight he would focus on his task. Once completed and he returns home, he would start with the needle in the haystack.
Now speaking of the task at hand, he knew he needed to snap out of his funk and his all-consuming thoughts about this white wolf.
Ready to work, Zayne's head rose, and he smirked at Rafael. Getting up, he walked towards the camera in the room, being just out of sight when he broke his cuffs.
'Amateurs,' he thought, but he knew Thornton's men would not be amateurs, so they needed to be out of there before the cavalry arrived.
Zayne was not a fool when it came to these types of situations. He knew Theodore was already alerted as, apparently, his name was on some f*cking special list.
This man was indeed something else.
Breaking Rafael's handcuffs, Zayne mind-linked Rafael and told him to knock on the door, and he did just that.
Soon, one guard poked his head in; a hyped Rafael then looked at Zayne to see what was next.
At the same time, the guard was about to follow Rafael's eyes when Zayne kicked the heavy door in hard, slamming it into the man and crushing him against the frame's edges of the door.
He fell to the ground with a thud, groaning in pain, when a waiting and ready Rafael kicked the guard's head, then his side for good measure. The guard was knocked out.
At the same time, Zayne was already ripping off the cuffs completely, and two of them paused in a fighting stance awaiting the other guards to come rushing in.
Surely, after hearing the commotion, more guards would come storming in.
They would have to fight their way out of here. Zayne knew they had to disarm the guards first. These were not the lethal bullets he was becoming familiar with.
He was confident they would be regular bullets.
However, he had a ball to attend to and did not want to be weakened by any gunshot wound.
Though his injury will heal once he gets the bullet out, he will lose a lot of blood he cannot regain at this given time.
However, after standing there in a fighting stance for two minutes and no one ran in, Zayne and Rafael looked at each other, eyes dimmed, brows furrowed.
Zayne then peeked out, and the corridor was clear. His eyes widened in surprise but then narrowed in suspicion.
Nonetheless, he knew he could not stay there. They had to move slowly and carefully. They made it out onto the corridor, grabbing their travel bag. Thankfully, it was jammed on the wall outside their room.
Nevertheless, they went in the direction they came from because back that way was where the exits were.
The pair crept down the wide, white, brightly lit corridor, the same type of white lights above.
They passed a few rooms on either side, ensuring they stayed away from the transparent square part to the top of the door.
They wanted to avoid alerting anyone of their presence and were not even interested in what or who was in any of the rooms.
Plus, they knew the team to fear would arrive soon, so they needed to keep moving and stay out of sight for as long as possible.
Staying close to the wall. Alpha Zayne and Delta Rafael made a right turn, then went left when all hell broke loose.
A team of armed men was chipping down the corridor as if running a drill, but Zayne knew they were coming for him.
He growled a thunderous growl, not caring who was around. That was their mess to clean up. Aragorn's fire and ice-fleck eyes to the surface.
He was already aggravated and groggy and, to top it off, on edge that something would happen.
He did not have patience for this and half-shifted perfectly instantly, then charged at the six incoming men, dropping his bag in the process.
They all had their barricade up, which Alpha Zayne tore through, not even giving them time to draw their weapons. Zayne was simply too fast for these human guards.
Close behind him, Rafael finished everyone that Zayne would pelt, slide or throw his way.
It took them less than a minute. However, Alpha Zayne knew the initial roar that he let out would draw more attention their way.
Thornton's men still needed to arrive. Zayne and Rafael kept moving. He did not even bother to track back for his bag. You never go back.
They have another right to take if he were to stay on course following the path that leads to the outside of this airport. However, straight ahead, instead of going right, he saw an emergency exit, a bright red door with a white light shining over it.
Zayne did not know where the light was coming from, but he could not believe his blessing. It was like the Divine Moon Goddess was literally guiding him out this door.
After a second of hesitation, Zayne took off, and Rafael, right on his tail, Zayne rammed straight through the door, still half-shifted. He was thankful for his powerful wolf.
This door was heavily reinforced metal, which is why he took off at a run in the first place. The door flew open, and Zayne stumbled outside. Looking at the sunlit sky, Alpha Zayne fell to his knees and thanked the Divine Moon Goddess.
This exit took them straight to a car park where they hot-wired a car and drove out of that car park, tires screeching and smoking as they sped out of there.
Zayne knew where he was going and had done his research; however, right now, they needed to get as far away from the airport and get cleaned up, something to wear for tonight and a place to lie low till it was time to move again.
Alpha Theodore Claude Thornton
Alpha Theodore Claude Thornton got an alert, interrupting his tennis round with his elites. While some were still playing golf, others ventured to his tennis courts.
Goddess, damn it, he cursed under his breath and excused himself again. He thought this would be wrapped up by now, but the scum bag Alpha escaped into TL before his men could arrive.
Somebody at that airport would lose their job. Theo vented as he contacted Ivan and gave the order to shut this place down.
And he dispatched more security teams to be on high alert in search of Zayne and his man.
His property was on complete lockdown, and his already tightened security just got like fort knox.
