Ulterior Motives
F*ck, f*ck, f*ck, he had her. And he could not stop her now; it would look suspicious if he suddenly could change the rule after he told her it was impossible.
Plus, even if he did and it worked, it still would deter his plans; too many variables.
It could be problematic if he allowed a few in and a few to stay outside.
God d@mn it. He was so close, his muscles flexed, and the veins in his neck poked out. All he wanted to do was get her alone, drug her, and slip her out the back; for f*cks sake, it was the best plan, and yet it did not work.
"For f*cks sake," he whispered, his fingers combed through his hair a few times as he held his waist and tried to think.
Dr. Nathan White wondered how he would escape this if his plans failed. If one runs, it will be all over. They would be able to connect him to this easily.
He'd worked so hard to keep himself hidden, but for a chance at getting Aubrianne, Dr. White was thinking of trying. He was tempted. How could he let her slip away AGAIN?
Nevertheless, a few moments later, a toxic gas was released into the elevator, and everyone except Jada and Aubrianne was affected. They guessed it was meant to take out the wolves, and in Aubrianne's case, her witch side was what held her.
And if it was what she thought it was, she knew Leia would not be down for long.
"I knew something..was..off," Shawn spoke drowsily as he clutched at his neck before being knocked out. The guards, Shawn and Kirrah, struggled and gasped for breath, hugging their necks as the gas got into their system.
Soon, they all lay on the floor, unmoving. Aubrianne and Jada looked on in horror.
With his words, Aubrianne was suddenly over-alert; she recalled Leia's stirrings of Dr. White's attempts to get them alone.
Confusion laced her features. Dr. White? Dr. Unforgettable? No way.
"Geez, what the f*ck, what is going on?" Aubrianne shouted angrily. She could scream. She was not even afraid. She was more enraged than anything else.
It was like the world was actively working against her, keeping her from quickly moving forward to get out of there.
All she wanted to do was to keep moving, head to the Airport and get to Martha as quickly as possible.
"Jada, are you ok?" Aubrianne asked at the same time Jada asked her the same thing.
The two laughed and looked at their situation as they descended in the still-moving elevator and nodded.
Jada then watched the elevator descend, and when it passed the ground floor, her eyebrows knitted as that was the floor they pressed.
She pressed the ground floor again a few times, "Sh1t, ok, let's be alert; we may have to fight our way out of this; Are you ready?" Jada advised and asked, her tone determined and unwavering.
Even though she did not really know what 'this' was,
Aubrianne did not know what it was, but anger consumed her again as they passed their stop. She raged at anything or anyone that came between her getting to where she needed to be.
Aubrianne shook herself, doing a little shimmy; she needed to shake off this funk and need for her mate. However, she held onto the anger of being kept from moving forward.
As far as she saw it, whatever was going on, whatever this was about, it was keeping her back!
She nods to Jada as they wait for the elevator door to open. Jada's magic alighted beautifully, dancing on the tips of her fingers while Aubrianne removed her necklace and clipped it onto her bra strap.
Her eyes glowing blue, Leia was already out on the surface and ready. Aubrianne realized it took even less time for Leia to wake up.
Maybe it was different with Ron as he had injected it directly into her bloodstream.
But she had no time to dwell on that fact; she was thrilled to have her wolf with her.
The door suddenly dinged open, and chaos soon followed.
They were in a parkade. Rows of cars littered the vast space neatly parked. They were underground, by the looks of it. The lights were ominously flickering, but it was the effect of Jada's magic tingling.
Jada wore a fierce and determined expression on her face. She would not let any harm come to Aubrianne. This was her chance to make up for her past failures. Jada was determined to get Aubrianne to safety.
They were greeted by approximately ten humans with guns, "Step out of the elevator slowly," a short human with a rifle spoke.
Aubrianne smirked, still feeding off her anger, "Drop your weapons," she commanded.
The ten humans surrounding them looked at each other, confused, but then they immediately dropped their weapons and looked around, shocked at what had happened.
Without warning, Jada's magic came alive, and she swayed her body as she moved her hands as if doing a dance while Aubrianne watched her, amazed.
She always loved how effortlessly Jada called upon her magic when they practiced.
It was always there at her fingertips, ready to do her bidding.
Suddenly, the magic built beautifully; it glowed a fiery red like Jada's aura, and Jada's hands shut outward, sending a blast toward the ten men, and their eyes went wide, but before they could react.
They felt their bodies forcefully lifting off the ground and thrust backward with such speed that their backs hit with a sickening crack resounding, either the roof above or the boulder that held the parkade together.
Some went flying, crashing into cars, denting them, and setting off the alarms.
The alarms rang out loudly and annoyingly so in the underground parkade, but before they could assess the situation, another group came charging toward them, and this time, the men rained bullets down on Aubrianne and Jada.
However, Aubrianne released her powerful aura, shattering the bullets before they could stick them. She glanced at the shots and saw they held some liquid in them.
Aubrianne figured it was something to knock them out. Suddenly Leia shouted, "Left."
And Aubrianne did not even look to her left. She commanded, "STOP."
Then she slowly turned to see who was approaching her. The bastard's eyes filled with crazed determination had an actual syringe in hand, held above his head, looking to stab her with it.
The attacker's hand froze mid-air as he struggled to bring it down, attempting to fight against Aubrianne's command when his eyes started bleeding.
She simply moved to his frozen form; well, he was not frozen per se; he simply could not continue his current actions of sticking her with the needle, which Aubrianne plucked out of his hands and inspected it.
All the while, Jada was holding her own beautifully. These guys are multiplying by the second. She sent her balls of electricity and force behind each that would charge at them.
Hands darting out to the left and right, she would duck and maneuver her body to get the proper aim depending on her attacker's direction.
Jada would even gracefully move out of the way of an incoming bullet using her magic to propel her swiftly. Or using said magic to shatter it with force.
"Behind," Leia shouted, this time to Aubrianne, and Jada sent a blast of magic to a guard running full speed to stick Aubrianne again. The guards started running out more and more, but Jada and Aubrianne continued to fight them off.
They realized they had the advantage of working together, and with Aubrianne's command, they were eliminating the enemy. And Aubrianne continued to let her anger about being kept back fuel her.
She called on her magic also, using it to manipulate objects to thrust at them. However, there were a few hit-and-misses with this as she was still learning.
She attempted some blast, however, not moving as gracefully as Jada yet, but it effectively took down any incoming assault.
Soon Dr. Nathan White ran out frantically, and his eyes widened at what was happening, "Aubrianne, oh, thank God you are alright; come this way, let me get you to safety."
Moments earlier, before the gas hit the elevator...
Dr. Nathan White paced briefly. He could not simply sit back and do nothing. His body vibrated in anticipation.
But was he willing to show his hand so soon?
He debated. Ahh, he knew what to do. He knew how to talk his way out of this if need be.
He then sauntered over to the receptionist's desk, and after confirming with Nurse Sheila Brown that this button behind the desk was what he was looking for, he pushed it, releasing a type of gaslike Peakash into the elevator.
He then called his army of men on standby should things reach a worst-case scenario, and to him, this was the worst case.
Present...
"I am so sorry; I think the Doctor at the office I sourced for you had ulterior motives."...
