Intelligent Creatures
Dr. Nathan White was trembling inside at his find; he could not believe it, and his heart raced in his chest.
While up on the fifth floor, deciding if to go the distance, he had never imagined what he would genuinely be hunting.
He would never have believed it if he had not seen it with his own eyes.
The way she commanded his men, no other could do that except a white wolf. He'd heard about it from his mother.
When his sister was brutally attacked, his mother hoped to get her hands on a white wolf because their blood was laced with healing and rejuvenating properties.
This turned out to be his most significant find yet to gain his mother's approval. She would be thrilled that HE was the one to bring her a white wolf.
Though he knew within himself this find could be just as groundbreaking for him as well. Aubrianne's blood would be precisely what he needed for his project to move forward.
If just a sample of her blood could yield such magnificent results. He got three high-speed, intelligent creatures he'd send out to Alpha Zayne's community as a test run, joining his other men.
Oh, the results, "hmmm," were such a turn-on for him...
Dr. White was elated at the news of them almost obliterating Alpha Zayne's community while he was at the Ball.
And he understood so clearly now; he understood why. He deeply understood the difference was HER blood.
How could he let her go now? "Please, Aubrianne." He begged, mustering up the most earnest look he could possibly give, his hands outstretched, offering a lifeline to help her get out of there.
Aubrianne's eyes dimmed, her eyebrows narrowed as she crouched and looked over at him as if he'd grown two heads, "Dr. White, you don't know me at all if you think I would leave my people."
She gestured to a sleeping Shawn, Kirrah, and the guards back in the still-open elevator on their floor.
It was like it purposely stopped moving. Aubrianne glanced around and saw Jada busy defending, and she needed to get back in the fight. She turned back to Dr. Nathan. He was wasting her time.
Suddenly Aubrianne's pores rose, and she turned in time to see five more men slowly crawling up behind her, ducking behind cars and boulders, "Behind you." Dr. Nathan shouted after the fact.
Aubrianne was torn where Dr. White was concerned, but she was not stupid to follow him blindly. She knew deep down she did not trust the man.
Aubrianne would stay and fight. Plus, she would not leave them.
But before she could react and take out the five men crawling up behind her, a big Mack truck came out of nowhere and crashed into the five.
Smashing into cars, boulders, and everything in its path. A loud crashing sound and vibration rippled through the air.
"Get in," Daniel shouted, and Aubrianne sprung into action, running towards the truck door. Relief washed over her at registering that Daniel was there.
She climbed up and looked back at Dr. White just in time to see his anger while he frantically pointed and gave silent orders. Her eyes dimmed and glowed a gorgeous blue.
"Get in," Daniel spoke again at the sight of more men running out of the stairwell and down the parkade.
Aubrianne got in, and they scanned for Jada, seeing her busy giving heat to a group of men. Daniel threw in reverse and backed straight into her last attacker. "Get in," Aubrianne shouted.
"Get to the elevator," Jada shouted as soon as she climbed up and into the truck, wasting no time.
Daniel mashed on the gas and continued reversing, rolling over the men, knocking cars out of the way, and heading straight to the open elevator.
Jada jumped out and used her magic to move their bodies into the bed of the truck.
While Aubrianne and Daniel jumped out of the Mac truck and fought off more oncoming attacks. A flurry of fist-fighting and magic work between the two.
They were humans. Daniel and Aubrianne did not need to shift.
They worked to cover Jada as she carried out the task of moving them; she was strong enough to levitate two at a time.
She did Shawn and Kirrah first, then the guards two by two.
Jada had to break her concentration several times to deal with a few stragglers.
Not much made it past Aubrianne and Daniel except for a few sneaky bastards ducking and hiding behind cars and crawling underneath high vehicles to get to her in order to further delay them and get them to drop their guard.
"Let's go, let's go." She shouted at Aubrianne and Daniel when she was through. Jada then did a quick spell, keeping the bodies from jostling too much as they were being transported.
Aubrianne and Daniel got back into the vehicle while Jada covered, sending a mini blast to anyone that came after them.
They all moved by instinct, high on adrenaline. There was no time for fear to kick in. Their connection was unfathomable, in tune with each other, perfectly working to defend Aubrianne and Aubrianne in a position to hold her own against the humans.
Though there was no fear, there was confusion.
And Aubrianne was still angry about her plans for the day being delayed. Nevertheless, this could count as the time it would have taken to get her scan.
But she was still mad at the world, all because she was missing her mate.
Soon they were ascending out of this underground parkade, the tires screeching at the sharp turns. This Mac truck only came out with a few minor dents.
The parkade was spiraling upwards. As they moved up another level, more cars littered this floor. It was amazing that not a pedestrian was outside.
Aubrianne and Jada were breathing heavily, their chests rising and falling with their efforts.
They looked all around them, even glancing behind them from time to time, eyes falling on their lifeless friends and guards in the tray of this truck.
Daniel focused on driving and getting the hell out of this parkade as soon as possible.
When suddenly, the entrance blew up, bringing heavy debris down toward them.
The loud sound and vibration ricochet throughout the entire parkade structure, and all levels tremor.
However, they did not consider Aubrianne's magic, and the funny thing was she did not know she could do it or what even to do, but what she did worked.
Aubrianne screamed, her voice panicked and frightened they'd be trapped there. Underground. "NOOOOO." Her hands darted out, and it was like the debris listened.
They stood midair, simply dangling in the air and not coming crashing down and sealing them shut in this underground parkade. But it was not that the debris heard Aubrianne.
It was Aubrianne's fright for their safety, her magic and power of her aura automatically moving fiercely to stop the cause of her stress.
As her hands directed it where to go, her powerful aura kept the tons of debris and broken concrete slabs from slamming the entry shut.
Wide-eyed and amazed at Aubrianne's display of strength, Daniel wasted no time. He mashed the gas, sped out of the parkade onto the streets, and headed to the manor.
The Mac truck swayed, the wheels lifting off the road with the sudden turn.
Leveled out, they sped up the road. Aubrianne and Jada caught their breath while looking to ensure they were not being followed and that their group of friends behind was ok.
Aubrianne's heart was beating rapidly, adrenaline pumping. She was frantic as to what the hell was going on. Why would Dr. Nathan White's doctor friend come after her? It does not make sense. Dr. Nathan's lies did not even make sense.
And why couldn't she shake this eerie vibe she was suddenly getting from Dr. White? And plus, she saw him; why did she doubt this?
Yes, another seemingly innocent man fooled her again.
Aubrianne did the math and was still not getting any answers about why; nevertheless, they needed to look into this with Dr. Nathan White and his associates. Why was he even coming after her?
However, suddenly Aubrianne could not shake the feeling in the back of her mind that she knew more. Somehow, she knew something about the names, especially Nurse Sheila Brown.
What was it? She could not place her finger on it, but it made her uneasy as she felt she was supposed to know something deep down.
