Should have surrendered!
Aubrianne and Shawn cried out as Shawn rushed to Kirrah's side and brought her closer to him and Aubrianne as he consoled her with his tear-filled eyes and felt the most gut-wrenching pain in the midst of all this.
And Aubrianne relaxed herself from clutching her chest, grasping her heart, trying to calm the beats, then wrapped her arms around them, trying to give comfort, but it was like her magic was not working, or she could not focus well enough to do the task.
At this point, Aubrianne was kicking herself for not giving up herself. All the teams would be alive, not to mention Shawn's mate Kirrah.
"I should have surrendered. Maybe Kirrah will still be alive." Aubrianne started, but Shawn quickly cut her off, "I won't hear of it."
He shut her down instantly.
"They would have killed us all anyway," Shawn spoke, his voice croaking. Realizing and accepting his faith, he would gladly die and meet his mate in the afterlife.
But he had to be strong right now for Aubrianne, and they were seriously outnumbered because those fvckers had that damn deadly weapon.
Only Shawn did not know he was still alive solely because they needed him to deliver a message.
This enemy lived for the theatrics.
Soon, one of the men in black pointed to their ear, and the headphones were blasting Goddess knows what.
At that moment, Aubrianne realized how defenseless she was even with all these powers, and again, Leia felt restricted.
One of the attackers held a phone up and on speaker. "Are you done yet?" A long pause, "I must admit I am very bored of this, so let me cut to the chase."
Shawn was now alert and begrudgingly lifted his gaze from Kirrah while Aubrianne kept her poker face, showing no signs of distress, glaring at the phone and listening.
"Tell Alpha Theodore Thornton it is me, Mrs. Nadera White. III did this, and at the upcoming vote, maybe he could finally see things my way."
She snickered evilly and then ended the call. Her voice was sultry yet firm, sharp, and no-nonsense. Aubrianne thought she'd gotten a whiplash from her voice alone.
Soon, Aubrianne realized she could not use her other abilities either for some reason. When she attempted to, it was her discovery.
Not to mention, now, one wrong move, and they could end her with a bullet.
Suddenly, Aubrianne felt sick to her stomach. Something was cutting her…before she could finish her thoughts, she was struck with a dart.
Aubrianne slumped into Shawn's arms as he scooped her up. Men approached the vehicle and attempted to grab Aubrianne as Shawn snarled viciously at them.
And after stalling as long as he felt he could, he handed her over and launched at them. Shawn was able to take out two of the guards before they shot him with a tranquilizer.
In all, Shawn and his team were able to take down only seven of the thirteen men in total.
Meanwhile, back in TL
Alpha Theodore Thornton ignored calls from Alpha Zayne Steele's men while continuing to stare at Dr. Nathan White's contact, deciding to touch the screen and gently tap his number once and for all.
He believed he had waited long enough, choosing to carefully weigh the pros and cons, and in the end, Aubrianne's safety was number one.
With a mate like Zayne, his never-ending vendetta, and his savior complex, he feared his daughter would be exposed to too much danger, even war.
Simply a risk he refuses to take…
Jada and Mr. Grey
It did not take long for Mr. Grey to realize Jada was back.
His daughter's scent flowed through his home on her return, and Jada's scent was loud on her. This may not be so strange, but the smell should not be that strong after a long flight.
Confused, he made his way straight to the manor.
Jada was relieved to see a familiar face that loved her and welcomed Ivan into her room.
Staring into each other's eyes, saying so much, yet they did not speak at first, Jada simply led him to the bed, and he held her in his arms as they lay comfortably on her bed while she cried.
She just wanted to be held and comforted, but she hated that the comfort was not from her mate.
Soon, her tears dried as she again became angry at her mate's behavior towards her. She was Jada!
Suddenly, she tilted her head up and nose to nose with Ivan. She kissed him passionately, but Ivan caught himself and pushed Jada away.
He physically leaped off the bed but stayed an arm's length away. As Jada purred, "Please, Ivan, make me feel better."
He refused her.
But his phone rang in his pocket before Ivan could see a wounded Jada. He looked down as he quickly grabbed it, welcoming the distraction and a moment to cool down.
Goddess, he wanted to take her right now, but it was not right in his eyes. All he wanted was to be there for Jada, but not that way.
Nevertheless, he swiped and answered, "Hello."
"Thank the Divine Goddess, we finally got someone." The man who had been trying Alpha Theodore Thornton, relentlessly decided to switch gears and try his beta, Ivan Grey, while another continued with Thornton.
The caller was relieved and thrilled, breathing a sigh of relief, and given that the time was just ticking away, he got to the point, "Aubrianne had been kidnapped. We don't know for sure, but her convoy is under attack, and it's not looking too good." the guy rattled out.
And Ivan was already on the move as Aubrianne had been KIDNAPPED! That's all he heard. And Jada went foot-to-foot with him, desperate to get the details, not wanting to jump to conclusions.
He was heading straight for Alpha Thornton's office.
Meanwhile…
Alpha Theodore Thornton looked at one of Zayne's men attempting to contact him again, and he scowled. Theo waited for the call to end and immediately dialed Dr. Nathan.
Sitting at his desk on his reclined massive leather chair, he eagerly anticipated an answer at the other end.
"Hello?" Dr Nathan answered, his voice dripping with annoyance.
"Oh, it seems like someone is having a terrible day. Hmm?" Alpha Thornton drawls and Dr. Nathan pauses as he simply listens to the caller. He wonders who the hell this is, and where is this going? Though he was suspicious, given the dominance felt.
"Maybe I can make it better? Hmn? Would you like that?" Alpha Thornton continued.
"Listen, I am a very busy man. Could you get to the poinntt?" Dr. Nathan White stated.
He was truly curious now, more so as he observed the caller's tone of voice.
"What if I say that I can give you Zayne on a silver platter?" Dr. Nathan scoffed, as he was unconcerned because, with his mother having Aubrianne, Zayne would come to them.
"Not interested." And Dr Nathan hung up on the person.
Angered by this blatant disrespect from this mere human. Alpha Thornton would not have it.
He quickly and aggressively called back the number, and after a few more rings, Dr. Nathan answered, "WHAT?"
Standing from his chair aggressively, his free knuckles laid on the table, you could see his veins popping out of the length of his arm, "Now you listen to me, you little twat."
"I am ALPHA Thornton, and I can get you Alpha Zayne Steele because he is mated to my daughter. Do you understand me now?"
“Hahahahahahahahahahaha bhahahahahahahahahahsha.” Dr. Nathan's laugh was loud and uncontrollable. He could not believe what was happening. Did he hear correctly? The nerve of Alpha Theodore Thornton.
Was this a negotiation, or did he not know his daughter was missing? Poor guy either way.
He called the wrong person to make that deal if it was a negotiation. He should be calling his mother. Though his mother certainly would not be interested in Zayne.
Nevertheless, Dr. Nathan did not need his help but decided to toy with him, "And what would your daughter say if I told her what you just said? I am actually on my way to see her now."
And as he said those words, Jada and Ivan came barreling into Thornton's office, and with the look on their faces as he glanced from Ivan to Jada and back to Ivan, his knees gave up, and he fell back on his massive leather chair.
Not even bothering to ask Nathan to repeat himself as 'what did you just say' was at the tip of his tongue, but Jada and Ivan's expressions told him all he needed to know, and the words stuck in his throat.
