Chapter 59: Cocky bosses and stupid fling.
KIKI.
Pete drove in through the widely opened gates. I sat up in my seat, ready to alight. I was grateful he had respected the fact that I was not in the mood to speak. When he parked the car, I got down from it with my things.
“Thank you,” I mumbled and he showed me the way in. I walked slowly, anger still brewing in me. At that moment, the size of the mansion didn’t appeal to me.
But the interior did.
It was so beautiful. A combination of white and crystal. It was almost like a glass house but it looked so nice. The sofas, the TV, the tiles, the paintings on the wall, the mural…everything appealed to me and I immediately felt at ease.
I would have settled down on the sofa but I didn’t want to. Even though it kept screaming ‘Kiki, have a seat.’
I balanced one foot on the other, looking around the house. Wasn’t he aware that I was around? Besides, did he live in this big house all alone?
I didn’t get it. But at that moment, it was the least on my mind. I snapped out of my mini trance when I heard his footsteps coming down the stairs. I waited patiently for him. When he finally appeared, he appeared to be busy on his phone.
I gave him a once over. He looked like he just got out of the shower with how fresh his skin looked. Let’s not forget how the white vest he had on seemed to suck up his packs and made them look defining. He was dressed casually though. He matched the vest with black shorts and make flip flips which I knew must cost a fortune.
“Good morning.” I snapped when his eyes finally left the phone and met mine. I was struggling not to speak with my teeth sinking into my lips.
He looked surprised at the snap in my tone but he didn’t say anything. He just nodded, turned around, and began to lead me somewhere. I followed suit cussing inaudibly. If he heard, it wasn’t my problem.
“We have a presentation later this morning. Later today, I meant. So, I need you to arrange those files for the presentation.” He said when we walked into his home office. He was pointing at a stack of papers in one corner. I gritted my teeth right in his eyes.
So, this is what we should start with. He isn’t even going to say anything to me. How wonderful!
His home office wasn’t much different from the one at the office. Every piece of equipment was pretty much the same. I still didn’t get why he put so much into the office here when he is always away at the one at the office. It was just a colossal waste of money and resources. Well, there was money. I’m sure all this didn’t affect a dime in their account.
I put down my bag on the sofa and sat down beside it. Then, I got to work.
I started to arrange the papers noisily. I didn’t care if he got mad about it. I was mad. I was hurt. How could he have just done that to me and expected it to be okay with me? It wasn’t okay at all. It took me a few minutes to finish doing what he had asked of me but when I finally finished, I placed them down noisily with strings of cusses.
I was fuming then I let out. I was boiling deeply and at the moment, I didn’t care who got burnt with my fire. I didn’t care at all. Whoever entered the storm would have to face it on its own. He betrayed me! I still can't help thinking, what if we had sex?
Was this how I would be completely disregarded?
“Good, you are done!” He said when he saw the arranged files. He picked them up and put them on his table.
“I’d like a cup of coffee. The coffee machine is in the kitchen.” He told me.
Did he want to drink coffee? He wanted me to make him coffee.
I hissed. Loudly.
He looked startled as he looked up from his phone. He slipped his phone into the pocket of his shorts watching me.
“If I make that coffee for you…” I exhaled. “Two things will happen. If I don’t poison it then I would pour it on you.” I told him. He sighed watching me.
“Wow! You are funny, Gigi.” I let out a bitter laugh on his face.
“Have you always been like this?” I paused to take a breath. “ You had a fiancee yet you cheated on her with me. Have you always been a cheat?” I was yelling now but I didn’t care.
“You don’t even think you owe me an explanation? After everything? I walked in here and you asked me to start work immediately. You don’t think I deserve to hear the truth? After you completely disregarded me at the station yesterday?” I yelled at him. I stopped, breathing heavily in his face.
“And why would I owe you an explanation?” He asked, stunning me.
“Why, Kiki?” He suddenly laughed like I did earlier but he was with amusement. “Just because of what happened between us, you think you deserve an explanation?” My lips were trembling now.
“You are not my girlfriend, Kiki.” He deadpanned. I nodded letting his words get to me. “What we had, what we did was just a fling. A stupid fling that doesn’t matter to me.” His words sliced through my heart with a knife leaving permanent injury there.
“So, you really should stop acting stupid and do as I said. You are being way over your head.” He concluded and I gulped.
