Chap 58: Trapped in Love or Obsession - Part5
Dylan immediately turned towards the window as if watching the city outside. He wanted to kill Clara for even thinking of trying to make Aiden her submissive. Clenching his fist, he took deep breaths to calm himself as he didn't want to get angry in front of Aiden. After a few minutes, he turned towards Aiden with a smile.
" Don't worry; it's nothing important."
"Okay," Aiden agreed." I-I will go to my room then," he whispered so that he could escape and avoid further questions.
" What's the hurry?" Dylan said, holding Aiden's arm to stop him.
Aiden's heart was beating fast, waiting for Dylan to burst out any moment. " A-Are you not sleepy?"
" Not at all," Dylan replied huskily. " How can I sleep when I miss you so much? I hardly saw you today."
" W-We are in the same office." Aiden didn't like where the conversation was leading.
" You are a busy person," Dylan said calmly. " You don't even have the time to pick up my call."
"I-I a-am sorry. I-I was having my lunch s-so I missed your call."
" So does that mean you think picking up my call was not so important?" Dylan questioned.
" No, no," Aiden replied. " I-I didn't mean to..."
" Were you perhaps doing something you were not supposed to do?"
" W-What do you mean?" Aiden was shocked. Did Dylan see him with Noah? How is that possible? If that were the case, Dylan wouldn't have been so calm, right? Maybe he was testing him.
" I was just wondering what you could possibly be doing that you couldn't even reach your phone."
" I-I am sorry. I-I won't miss your call again."
Dylan realized Aiden was trying to avoid the question, so he insisted. " I want to know the reason."
Aiden didn't know why he felt so nervous even though Dylan spoke to him calmly. This seemed some sort of interrogation. He racked his brain on what to say and decided to lie as he could not tell about meeting Noah. " I -I was with my friend, so I didn't hear the phone."
" A friend?" Dylan spat, his temper rising.
Aiden flinched and backed away a little, so Dylan suddenly cooled down and said in a straight voice. " Who's this friend of yours?"
" Not a friend, a colleague," Aiden replied hurriedly, trying to appease Dylan.
" Oh, a colleague?" Dylan smiled though he was burning in rage thinking about that so-called colleague Kurt who was all over his Aiden.
" Yeah, he's in my team."
" So this colleague of yours is more important than me?"
"No..." Aiden knew Dylan was too possessive and didn't like him being friendly with others. " I-It was the first time today."
" And I hope it's your last, too," Dylan snickered.
" B-But w-we work together."
" So?" Dylan asked, raising his brow.
" How can I avoid him?"
" Other than work, you don't need to stay in touch with him."
" W-We are just teammates; it's not a big deal," Aiden said in irritation.
" It is a big deal for me if you ignore my calls for some other random person."
" T-That was a mistake. I told you I won't ignore your calls again."
" I promised to be a better person for you, so I am trying to control my temper. Don't you think you should avoid making me angry?"
" What?" Aiden was appalled. " Why should I be responsible for your temper?"
" Because you are the only one capable enough to make me lose control."
" Is this the way you are going to change by restricting me?"
" I am trying, Aiden. Can't you give me some leverage?"
" Fine! I am going back to my room," Aiden said, feeling tired. He didn't want to argue with Dylan as it usually led to him getting beaten up.
" Can I get a goodnight kiss," Dylan asked playfully. His anger seemed to have vanished in the air.
Aiden scoffed and turned around to go to his room.
" You can't leave like this," Dylan said, pulling Aiden towards himself from behind. " I need my reward."
" Reward?" What for?" Aiden asked, surprised.
" Because I didn't punish you today."
" W-Why would I-I get punished?" Aiden stuttered in fear.
" Even though I am not making an issue out of it, did you think I forgot what you did today?"
" I-I didn't..."
" You should be grateful I didn't punish you for ignoring my calls and making me wait so that you could party with your so-called friends."
" W-Why should I-I be punished for that?" Aiden was a fool to think Dylan would just ignore the matter.
" Don't you know I don't like you going out with others? I should always be your priority. In fact, I should be the only one."
" It was just a dinner," Aiden said, frustrated. " I didn't go on a date."
" You wouldn't dare to," Dylan said in a slightly threatening voice.
Aiden immediately thought about Noah and wondered how he could get rid of Dylan within a month while he was still being so possessive.
Dylan felt irritated when Aiden didn't respond. He tightened his hold on him and said, " I know you wouldn't cheat on me."
" Huh?" Aiden was confused. " Cheat?"
" Yes." Dylan smiled and nudged Aiden on his neck.
" How can I cheat on you when we are not in a relationship?"
Dylan's smile suddenly vanished, and he turned Aiden around so that he could face him. " You said you would give me a chance."
" That doesn't mean we are in a relationship."
" Are you playing with me? " Dylan sneered.
" What are you even saying? You asked me for a chance to prove your love for me, not to be your boyfriend."
" Then I am telling you now; I love you, so be my boyfriend."
" That's not possible," Aiden seethed.
" Why? Do you think you can still go back to that lover of yours? Even if we are not together, I won't allow it."
" Who do you think you are?" Aiden said before he could hold himself back.
Seeing Aiden getting angry, Dylan smiled and said, " Calm down, my Love. We were having such a good time, and I don't want to spoil it by fighting over a petty thing."
Aiden was lost for words. Often Dylan was the one who could never control his anger, but for the first time, he was trying to stop a fight. Seeing his changed behavior, Aiden didn't know how to react.
Dylan smirked to himself when he saw Aiden's confused expression. " You said you were tired. Come on, let's sleep."
" I-I won't sleep with you," Aiden said, coming out of his thoughts.
" Love, I won't do anything because I promised you. It's just that I want to hold you so that you can sleep peacefully."
Before Aiden could think of a valid reason to refuse Dylan, he was dragged to his room and tucked in his bed.
" I-I can sleep by myself. You don't have to..."
" Shhh!!!" Dylan hushed, holding Aiden tightly. " Just sleep."
Aiden wanted to talk with Noah, but Dylan didn't seem to leave his side. Feeling exhausted, he closed his eyes and tried to sleep.
The next few days were totally unexpected. Aiden didn't know how to describe the feeling, but he felt he was being watched every time. While working in his cubicle, he felt someone staring at him, but when he looked around, there was nothing suspicious. Whenever he thought of going out for lunch, Dylan would deliver a food parcel to him so that he didn't need to go out. Socializing with his coworkers was out of the question because Dylan would somehow miraculously know about his plans and stop him from going by citing some reason. As soon as Aiden left his seat even to go to the washroom, he felt eyes on him. The only time he was alone was in the small space of the bathroom in the office and Dylan's home. That was the only time he would talk to Noah to assure him he was fine.
After a week of feeling like being stalked, Aiden couldn't take it anymore. For the past week, he had not gone anywhere except for Dylan's home and office, so he decided to confront Dylan. " Have you been spying on me?"
Dylan didn't seem fazed by the question, as he knew Aiden was smart enough to realize it sooner or later. " Why do you think so?"
" How do you always know about all my activities?"
" What activities?" Dylan asked with a confused expression.
" You always seem to know in advance what I am doing."
" Can you be more specific?"
" Whenever I think of going out for lunch, you send me a lunch box."
" What's so surprising about that? It's because I am worried about your health. Moreover, it's during lunch hours."
" Then... whenever I want to go out with my friends, you stop me."
" Who are these friends? Why do you want to go out?"
" I-I mean my colleagues."
" What work do you have with your colleagues outside the office?"
" Don't change the topic, Dylan. I was asking about you spying on me."
" I never did such a thing. I hope you know I am a very busy person, and I don't have time for this."
" But..."
" But what?" Dylan asked, raising an eyebrow.
" I-I always feel like I am being watched."
" What?" Dylan looked furious. " Someone is stalking you? Who the f**k is he?"
Aiden intently stared at Dylan to see whether he was lying, but Dylan's expression didn't give anything away. He seemed genuinely angry, and Aiden was confused. " I-I thought it was you."
" Are you kidding me? Why would I stalk you when you stay with me."
" Then why do I feel like..."
" If that's the case, it's not safe for you to go out," Dylan said, holding Aiden's arms in concern. " I suggest you stay at home while I look for this bastard."
" No," Aiden said hurriedly. " I-I am fine." He shuddered at the thought of staying home without a chance to escape.
" But what about your safety?"
" It's not as bad as you think. Maybe I am mistaken."
" What if something happens to you?"
" Nothing is going to happen; I am just being paranoid. Now that I think about it, I never even saw anybody."
" Are you sure?" Dylan asked in concern.
" Absolutely," Aiden assured.
" If you find anything out of the ordinary, please let me know."
" Ya...Okay."
Dylan hugged Aiden and smirked at his victory.
