Chapter 39
CHAPTER 39: STARTING TO LIKE YOU
IVYNA was sitting down in front of her parent’s grave. She was not completely fine but she slowly accepting the fact that her parents were gone and she could not do anything about. She then looked up the sky and sighed. She stared at the fine blue sky.
“I-I know… I have not been a good daughter to the both of you b-but…” tears fell down to her cheeks as her heart ached thinking she was not going to see them fighting and arguing every morning she woke up.
“I-I will miss you a-and I’m sorry if… if I was not there when you both trying to protect yourself on the fire. I-I’m sorry if… we have not a proper goodbye.” Ivyna wiped her tears while still looking up the sky, hoping that her parents could see her from above.
On the other hand, Taese was standing not far away from her. He’s standing next to July who was looking worriedly to her friend. Tease also looking to where Ivyna was and he saw how she cried while looking up.
It’s been a week since he saw her that weak. Every day she was crying and blaming herself to what happened to her parents. Though, Taese tried to convince her that it was not her fault, Ivyna couldn’t still stop blaming herself for that.
“Should I come to her?” July asked still looking to Ivyna. She’s sad seeing her friend being like that. It was like her world broke down. She understood her feelings at all. But she also couldn’t stop worrying to Ivyna since it’s been a week when she started to neglect herself from everything.
“Go. I’ll be waiting her.” Taese said.
July walked slowly to where Ivyna was. Even she only seeing Ivyna’s back, she still could tell that she was crying again.
“Beh… I-Ivyna…” she called her once she was inches away from her. “L-Let’s go.”
Ivyna didn’t face nor speak. She was just staring to her parent’s grave while her tears were falling down to her cheeks.
July waited for her to response but when she got nothing at all, she sat down beside her and looked at her. After seeing her crying again, she rubbed her back to at least make her calm.
“I know you are hurting right now…” July said. “And I know I am not the right person to tell you this but you need to be strong, Ivyna, for yourself. Maybe your parents were watching you from above and seeing you like this, I think they will be not happy if you stay to be like this.”
Ivyna just listened to her.
“You are not alone, I am still here with you.” She then hugged Ivyna. “Remember, I will always one call away, okay? I will be there anytime you want just call me, okay?”
“J-July…” Ivyna sobbed between her arms.
Tears fell down to July’s eyes when she heard her cracked voice calling her name.
Minutes had passed when Ivyna finally stood up and come with July to Taese’s car. July was almost hugging her while guiding her towards the car. Taese watched them until they both entered his car. He entered the driver’s seat and looked at them through the mirror while fixing his seatbelt.
“We’re going to my condo.” Taese said.
July was just nodded at her while Ivyna was leaning her head to July’s shoulder and closed her eyes.
Tease started the car and left the cemetery.
The three of them was quiet all the way to Taese’ condo. Tease always checked Ivyna through the mirror time to time. She’s quietly sleeping to July’s shoulder so he felt relieved that she was not crying anymore. Seeing her crying for almost the whole week broke his heart. He wanted to take away the pain she was feeling. But he knows he can’t do it so only he could do was to check her every time and be with her all the time.
Once they reached the building of his condo, Taese parked his car. He unlocked his seatbelt when he heard July spoke up.
“Ah, Sir Taese,” July called him.
He then looked at her. Ivyna was still leaning her head to July’s shoulder.
“What?”
July mouthed Ivyna.
“I can’t move hehe.”
Taese looked at Ivyna again. “Wait.” He then go out the car and opened the door in Ivyna’s side. “I will carry her.”
He slowly got her up until he carried her in a bridal style. He fixed her in his arms before looking to July.
“You can follow us.”
July shook her head.
“Ah, can I leave, sir? It’s my brother’s birthday, I will just coped up to his celebration since I am no there earlier. Can I?”
“What if Ivyna look for you?” Taese said.
“I will explain it to her tomorrow.” July smiled.
Taese sighed.
“Okay. Do you want me to take you off—“
“No need, sir. I can go alone. Thank you for the offer though. And please don’t let my friend be alone. “
Taese nodded.
“I will. Take care.”
After July bid her good bye to Taese, she immediately walked away and grabed a taxi.
Taese carried Ivyna all the way long to his condo unit. He used the elevator so they immediately reached his unit. Once they reached his room, he opened it and not bother to close the door because he put down Ivyna to his bed.
He then sat down beside her and removed some hair on her face.
"Starting today, I will be your family." He whispered while staring at her. "I will be with you any time you want."
He then held her hand while still looking at her peaceful face.
"We're not good back then but I promise I will be the person you could lean on from now on." He didn't remove his eyes to her face.
He let her hand touched his cheek. Once he felt her skin to his cheek, he closed his eyes.
"I will be your new home." He whispered again. "Seeing you being like this, damn!" He cursed before he looked at her. "Seeing you like this is hurting me too. If I could take away the pain you are feeling, I will. But I can't."
He sighed.
"Please be strong— Damn!" He cursed once again once a single tear fell down to his eyes. "Why am I crying?!"
He looked at her face again.
"This is because of you." He said. "I think... I think I am starting to l-love you, Ivyna."
