Chapter 40

CHAPTER 40: Kiss Inside The Elevator

IT’S BEEN A MONTH after Ivyna visited her parent’s grave. She’s been fine these past few weeks. And she really appreciated Taese and July’s presence. The two of them wasn’t left her behind. They always had been there for her just like now. Taese cooked breakfast for her.

She’s confused to his actions since then. It was like he’s being kind towards her. She couldn’t stop thinking if he just doing that because of her situation or maybe because he really meant his words and actions.

“Are you hungry?”

Her thoughts faded away once she heard his voice. She saw him looking at her with a spoon on his right hand. He also wearing apron with a white tee shirt inside and only boxer.

Ivyna shook her head.

“I-I’m not…” she murmured.

She was not used to him being like this. It made her felt relieved and somehow… she couldn’t do but to think something.

“Just wait for a while. I’ll be done.” Taese back to what he was doing.

Ivyna watched him once again. She thought he’s really being kind to her since the day he let her stay to his condo unit. She tried to move out but Taese insisted to stay her with him.

Minutes had passed when Taese finally finished cooking. He then sets the table so they can eat already. Ivyna wanted to help him but Taese stopped her and told her to stay still. So, she can’t do anything again but to obey him and watched him preparing their breakfast.

“Eat. You must hungry.” Taese sat down in front of her.

They quietly eat when Taese spoke up.

“We’ll go together to the company. You sure want to work?” Taese asked while they are eating.

Ivyna nodded.

“Yeah, it’s almost a month I’m just staring at the ceiling to your room.” She said. “And… I don’t want to be burden to you anymore—“

“You’re not.” Taese cut her off. “Don’t think that way. You are not a burden to me, okay? It’s okay that you are here so I can monitor and watch you.”

Ivyna stared at him for a while. Her heart pumped as she saw how sincere his eyes are while looking at her.

‘Is he really meant it?’ She thought.

“B-But I think it will be an inconvenience if I’ll stay here. I must find at least apartment for myself—“

Taese cut her off once again.

“NO!” He suddenly shouted.

Ivyna looked at him confused.

“I-I mean… its fine that you are here since I… I want you here.”

They fell silent when Taese said that.

After they ate their breakfast, they both prepared themselves to go to work. While fixing herself, Ivyna couldn’t forget what Taese said and it echoed to her head.

“I want you here.” It didn’t left her mind until she finished fixing herself.

They are on their way to the company. They are both silent. Ivyna was looking outside the window of Taese’ car to avoid his gaze since she still not gets away what he said earlier. While Taese looked at her each seconds through the mirror.

Once they reached the company, they still both silent when they entered the elevator. Ivyna tried to busy herself to her phone. But Taese couldn’t stay like that.

“Are you mad or something?” Taese asked still looking in front. He puts his hands to his pants pocket to stay calm.

Even though Ivyna heard it and she surely know that he was talking to her, she still kept quiet and kept her focus to her phone.

Taese could see her reflection in front so he saw she did nothing at all. And it pissed him off.

He then faced her with a frown. He watched and stared at her, waiting for her to react but she didn’t. So instead waiting for her to talk, he made a move to get her attention. He moved closer to her that made Ivyna to look up at him.

“W-What are you doing—“ she uttered while stepping back.

Taese smirk at her reaction. He still moves closer to her.

“Finally, got your attention, huh?”

Ivyna felt the wall touched her back.

“S-Sorry I’m just checking—“

Ivyna couldn’t finish her finish to what happened next.

Taese lowered his face and caught her lips using his lips.

Ivyna was shocked. She felt his lips touched hers.

Seconds had passed before Taese moved away his lips to hers and stand still. He then looked at her reaction and smile seeing the shock in her face.

“Ignore me again, I’ll kiss you.”

Exactly when Taese moved away to Ivyna, the door opened. Taese first came out while Ivyna was still there processing what happened.

‘Did he just… kiss me and… walked away?’ She thought.

Her eyes followed him before she went out the elevator and followed him.

Ivyna couldn’t think straight and couldn’t do her work well since she was bothered. She always peek a gaze to where Taese was and thinking that he must staring at her too. But she was wrong. Every time, she looked at him, he’s on the phone talking to someone or typing while focus on his laptop.

“Stop, Ivyna. Focus. Focus.” She slightly slapped herself and tried to focus on what she was doing.

On the other hand, Taese saw how she slightly slapped herself. He had noticed her looking at him every minute. He couldn’t stop smiling every time she turned her back away and be serious and do anything every time she looked at him again. It was so funny to him that she was being like that.

“Cute.” He whispered to himself while looking at her. But he immediately turned into serious mode once she turned her face at him again. He’s holding his smile once he saw her being annoyed.

She turned back again and that’s the time he curved a smirk.

“How cute.” He touched his chin and leaned himself to the chair while looking at her.
