IMPRESSIVE
Lamas'Pov :
For the past few months, she has been working in my company. She was one of my most talented employees. Ever since she walked into the company, things had gotten so much better. I hesitated to knock on her door this morning, but I brought her some food to eat. I'd never done that before for anyone. It was messing with my mind. When she didn't open, I walked in without her permission. I dropped the tray of food next to her. From the way she positioned herself, I knew she was awake. Augusta never slept this way, she only did when she was awake from nightmares. I couldn't help but feel I was the cause of it. She just didn't want to speak to me. She was giving me the silent treatment. And as much as I wanted to give her space, this treatment was killing me. She was still a little bit shaken. And I never thought I'd be saying this in a thousand years.
"I'm sorry," I said sincerely. "I'm selfish and scared that you're going to walk out on me one day. And if you get pregnant, I'll never refuse that child. I'll raise it on my own if I have to so you can have the life you want." I couldn't believe this was coming from me. I never wanted kids before. Ever. But it was different with Augusta. She still didn't turn towards me though. "I'm sorry for causing you nightmares. But I won't regret you ever having a child for me."
"What about me? Do you understand what all this is doing to me?" She questioned with so much pain in her voice. I closed my eyes. I'd never felt this way towards anyone. I walked towards her as she sat up from the bed, staring at me with pain-filled eyes. I went over to her and bent. "You never done that to me before. Why did you do it?" Her question made me think. "When you know I'm not ready to even have a child. Not in this world of chaos. Why would I give birth to a child now? If you want one you could adopt!"
"I want it to be you," I said and she furrowed her brows.
"What?" She asked in a bare whisper.
"I want the woman who carries my child to be you?" I said with all honesty. She stared at me in the eyes.
"You're lying. Trying to deceive me so I can let my walls down. Well, nice try."
"I'm not Derek Augusta. He never loved you to begin with." My statement made her chuckle.
"So you're saying you love me." She said sarcastically. "That you're not trying to deceive me, and play pranks on me?"
"Why would I do that? Derek did those things to you because he knew what you were up to. He had to win your trust and make you break those walls so he could use you. You can't compare me to him. We need each other. You need me just as much as I need you. And speaking about love, yes, I do love you and that's why I care more than I should. But I'm not in love with you." I said and she nodded, not looking close to convinced.
"If you did you wouldn't have done what you did yesterday."
"I was out of my mind, Augusta. I wasn't thinking straight. All I had in mind was to keep you with me because if I didn't, you could have died. What do you want me to do if you do huh? We're not even done with our deal yet." I said.
"I need to get prepared for work." She said and got down from the bed. I gripped her shoulder slightly.
"You're not going anywhere," I said.
"Let go Lamas."
"I'm serious."
"I'm serious too. Let go." She said, We stared at each other for a moment too long. Then I bent and carried her back to the bed. "Lamas stop! Put me down." I dropped her gently on the bed.
"And I'm repeating myself. You're not going anywhere."
"Why are you doing this to me?"
"You're not in the best shape to go to work. You can barely walk well." Did I have to be so direct about everything?
"I would love to be anywhere else except with you.'
"So you would love to be with Derek?"
"That's not what I said. Please, Lamas, I need to get to work." She said.
"You can do that remotely. You don't necessarily have to show up. If you want to be away from me then that's fine. I'll leave this room and never come back till you want to see me again. But I can't just let you leave just like that. Not when you're barely in good shape."
"That doesn't concern you!"
"It fucking does because a soul might be growing inside of you. There's a high probability you're going to get pregnant unless you were on pills." I said and she looked at me with disbelief.
"So what? I can't work because I might be pregnant?" She asked. "Then let's be sure about that first."
"Nope. Please listen to me just this once. You're sore and it's because of me. I hurt you, and I'm sorry." I said.
"You think sorry is enough? You need to do way better than that Lamas." She got undressed right in front of me and it confused me. "Move, I need to take a shower." She said and I sighed.
"You hate me right now don't you?" I whispered as I watched her walk into the bathroom.
We walked into the office, and while I had the employees greeting me here and there, Augusta walked behind me. My manager walked up to me with a schedule in his hand and showed me the list. Yeah, right now I was damn focused on working on this app that seemed to be having a whole lot of faults. Seemed like it had been hacked by someone because there were so many bugs. I glanced at Augusta, but she was heading towards my office already. I made her my assistant and well... It didn't sit well with a whole lot of people until they figured out that she was good at what she did.
"She seems kind of off. What did you do again, Mendez?" My right-hand man, Christophe, walked up to me. "It's obvious she doesn't want to be around you."
"It's none of your business." I rolled my eyes as we both walked into my office. I checked the file on my table. They all appeared to be codes meaning one of the workers submitted this to my desk earlier this morning. "Get this person for me." I dropped the file on the table. Soon, a lady was coming in. Wait, Augusta.
"You requested to see me." She said, "I need you to do something important for me."
"And what is that, sir?" Sir? I'd love for her to call me that in bed. What the fuck was I thinking? I moved the document forward.
"You did this, didn't you?" I asked and she nodded.
"Yes, yes I did."
"I normally don't face challenges when working with codes, but I'm kind of stuck here. Any ideas?"
"It's the solution needed for the malfunctioning app. I looked it up a few days ago and realised it wasn't due to any hacking means. It wasn't done well right from the start. Many of the codes there need reorganizing. The first set of codes that were applied, caused many problems like bugs, errors, and security vulnerabilities. That's why it keeps malfunctioning. Because the problem was from the source." She stated.
To say I was impressed, was an understatement.
