Chapter 124 Unexpected Visit
After a few days, I'm all alone at home. It's been days since I got out of the hospital after being there. Ares' parents tried to make me live with them, but I didn't want to because I was too embarrassed to be around them all the time. They gave up on their plan to make me stay with them in the end. On the other hand, they come to our house often to see me because they enjoy my company so much. In fact, they just left a little bit earlier.
FLASHBACK
When someone suddenly knocked on the door, it jolted me out of the light sleep I was in. I looked at the clock and saw that it was still six in the morning. When I looked over and saw that Ares wasn't lying next to me anymore, I thought he had already left. When I left the room, though, I saw him walking to the door and opening it.
"Who could be in there? — Mom?! Dad?!" Ares was surprised when his parents showed up at our front door out of the blue.
I ran as fast as I could to the room, opened the closet, and grabbed a jacket, which I then put on. I could hear them talking outside, so I opened the door carefully and made my way to the living room, where they were having a conversation.
"How are things with you today?" I was the one who greeted them.
"Oh, you little cutie! I hope you have a good morning! No matter what, we brought some food with us to share with you both. I had to wake up early to get food ready because I know Kia still needs to get better and won't be able to cook for you two until she does. I hope it will be good for you." It was something Mom said, and she said it with such a proud look on her face.
Gosh! She doesn't know that Ares cooked all of our meals during the time we were together. As I kept looking at Ares, I made my eyes a little bit smaller. The next thing I see is that his eyebrows are up. Seems like asking me what my problem is.
You better not tell them that you cooked every day, or I will kill you. I said something to myself while keeping my angry face toward him.
"Oh, Kia! Since my other child told me that you like chicken macaroni soup, I decided to make you some." Mom said something as she reached for the bag with the meal she had made for the four of us. She reached for a Tupperware container that had chicken macaroni soup in it next. "Here, sweety! I hope you will like it!" She said this while she was handing me the Tupperware.
"I really appreciate your mom. I would have never thought in a million years that you would make my favorite foods for me..."
"Of course! Whatever will make you happy, my love! Anyway, we have to leave right away. This just got done, but there are still a lot of other things we need to do today. Make sure you eat everything that's there. Okay?" This was what Mom said just before they left.
Ares took all the Tupperware containers out of the bag, and with his help, I set them up on the kitchen table. Six different dinners are stored in their own Tupperware containers.
As I stared at it, I couldn't say anything other than "Wow." It was the only thing I could think of to say.
Ares rubbed his head in what looked like anger. He said something like, "Well, I guess I don't have to make breakfast for us then..." while giggling.
END OF FLASHBACK
When I looked at the clock, it seemed like lunchtime was coming up soon. because our mother used to make us a lot of food. I don't have to worry about making food or ordering food over the internet. I'm going to eat the chicken curry I made yesterday for lunch today. I took the Tupperware container out of the refrigerator and put it in the microwave.
As I waited for my food, I started reading the messages on our group chat. I was supposed to go to school today, but I won't because my primary care doctor told me to stay home from school for the next three days. Because of this, I have no choice but to miss the meeting.
[Kia, what kept you from going to school today?] Miaree asked what everyone was talking about.
[I was in the hospital for a few days last week, and my doctor says I shouldn't go to school for the next few days...]
Miaree is trying to get in touch with me when my phone rings out of the blue. I haven't even finished writing my answers yet. I said yes, and when she spoke, her soft voice was so close to bursting my eardrum that it hurt.
“Kianna! What the heck happened to you?! Why didn't you tell me that you were in the hospital?!" Miaree asked the question on the other line.
"Calm down Miaree Ishii… I'm doing fine right now, and I'm glad you asked.
"What the heck happened?? Did Ares hurt you?? I'm going to stop talking about that garbage!
“Hey! No! He didn't hurt me, but that goes without saying. Miaree, you can be sure that he will never do something like that. Anyway, I'm doing fine now, so there's no need to worry about that."
“Mhmm? Are you sure? Do you want me to visit you at your home?" Miaree asked.
But, Miaree, you have classes today that you have to go to. Don't tell me you're going to miss your classes, all right?
"Why not?" is how the question is asked.
"Get on with your life and stop talking. Keep living there and do well in your schoolwork. I have to leave right away. Pay close attention to what is being taught today, because you will be the one to teach me everything you have learned." I told her that before hanging up on her without waiting for her to answer. Simply put, I had to do that because if I didn't, she would have tried to get me to come here, which I don't want to do because she still have classes to go to.
When I checked Messenger, I saw that someone had just shown up in my inbox. When I opened the letter and saw that it was from Nathan, I was shocked to find out who it was from. He was worried about me and wanted to make sure I was okay. There is now something new. He didn't show nearly as much worry before that. I don't know what he's doing wrong.
