Chapter 132 Clearing Things Out
KIA
The chilly breeze was blowing across my skin, and I could feel it. I am currently standing in front of the enormous villa that I checked out the previous time I was here. In the event that I am unable to obtain a response from Ares, I will approach his parents in an effort to acquire the information that I require.
After entering the grounds of the villa, I discovered that I had a significant distance to travel before I could really enter the structure. As I made my way toward the villa, a variety of conflicting feelings began to arise within me. It was difficult for me to determine whether my emotions were those of agitation, disappointment, or nervousness. As I arrived, I was all of a sudden overcome with uncertainty regarding whether or not I should forward with my plan. I couldn't see anyone at the front door, so I decided to walk in through the back entrance instead. However, when I got there, no one was present.
Maybe I should go back the next time—
"Kianna?"
My attention was drawn to the source of the voice, which was coming from behind me. When I turned around, I saw Ares' mother coming towards me while holding a bouquet of flowers. She was going towards me when I peeked behind my back. It would appear that she has just returned from the garden with a bouquet of freshly plucked flowers.
"It is really you! What exactly are you doing in this place, young lady?" She inquired.
"I'm just— I'm just wondering around... I am very close to leaving right now. It is wonderful to have this opportunity to speak with you once again. I– I'm going…" After mumbling something embarrassing, I stood up and started walking away, but Ares' mother abruptly screamed out my name once more before I could continue leaving.
"Why are you acting so strangely, Kianna? Why are you leaving so quickly when you just got here? Whatever the case may be, let's go ahead and have some refreshments inside." She then muttered something to me and dragged me inside. I was powerless to stop her from pulling me inside the villa, so I just let myself be carried in.
"Anyway, you did not respond to the question that I asked, hija. Could you please tell me what it is that you are doing in this location? You seem to be seeking for Ares, don't you?" While she was making some freshly squeezed juice, she posed the question.
"Ahmm… To some extent... I tried to get in touch with him on the phone multiple times, but he never answered any of my calls..." I tried to speak clearly but failed.
"Oh… It's possible that he was too preoccupied with his work to respond. You must be aware, my dear, that working for the most successful corporation in the nation would require a great deal of effort on your behalf..." As she was setting the refreshments out on the table, she made the statement. “Here… Have a few snacks when you first get here. In passing, I was wondering about the state of your health. Are you experiencing any improvement in your symptoms at this time?"
"Yes, auntie—"
"Auntie?? You do remember that I instructed you to address me as mum, don't you? Because we are now a family, there is no reason for you to feel embarrassed about the situation, hija."
As I listened to what she had just said, a grin spread across my face. I simply want to make sure, because they talk about their family like I'm a member of them, but am I really? Because if I really was a member of their family, then I don't see why they would have lied to me in the first place. Everyone managed to make me look like an idiot... I couldn't believe I'd made such an idiotic mistake...
I thought they were my safe space...
"I really apologize. I just forgot, mom… I was wondering if I might ask you a question."
"Yeah, sure!" She said as she filled up her glass with a new beverage.
"Are you… Is it true that you are his parents?"
As she listened to my question, I observed that she narrowed her eyes. I am well aware that this can come out as strange to some people, but there is no other way to get to the bottom of the matter.
"I understand completely, hija. I am the woman who gave birth to Ares. What prompted you to ask about that in the first place?"
"Then—Then what part of what you've told me is a complete fabrication?" I inquired with a sense of curiosity.
The woman's eyes enlarged, and as a result, she ended up dumping the glass into the ground, where it shattered into pieces. She attempted to inquire, "Wha— what are you talking about?" but she found herself unable to continue speaking and ended up stuttering instead.
I get some juice out of my bag and start drinking it. "Mom, I am sure that you are well aware of what it is that I am speaking about..."
“Kianna… I truly apologize, hija, but I cannot provide you with all of the information that you request at this time. I'm sure I've told you this before, but you absolutely must have faith in my son and be patient as you wait for the right moment—"
"Isn't that just the perfect timing?? Does this imply that you will continue to make me look like an idiot for a very long time simply because of the "perfect timing" that you have been referring to? When exactly did that moment of perfect timing occur? I cannot shake the feeling that everyone has been trying to take advantage of me. Is everything just a performance?? Where do we draw the line between what is real and what is not?! I beg of you, please tell me! I was incapable of holding back the roaring that came out of my mouth. Even if I had tried, I would not have been able to find a cause to settle down."
"Hija, even though I am not in a position to explain anything to you, you have my word that everything that is happening to you is for your own good, and I assure you that all of this is for your benefit. My child would never do anything that would put the person he cares about the most in danger—"
"Is it possible to love someone who consistently lies? Because if that's the case, I don't want to feel love any more if it's true." I uttered those words while maintaining a blank face. I got to my feet and remarked, "Right now, I have to get going. I appreciate the snacks. I really hope that one day you will be able to understand how vital trust is to every aspect of life." After that, I turned around and continued walking away without looking back.
