Chapter 134 Second Chance
Ares was about to follow Kianna when suddenly an employee was running towards him.
“Sir, we have a situation. The CEO of our business partner has arrived and he was requesting for your presence, sir.”
“Mr. Guevarra is here??” Ares asked.
“Yes, sir….”
“Tell him that my secretary will be the one who will meet him—”
“But, sir… this is the fourth time that we are going to turn down his request. We might lose this partnership if you won’t be able to meet Mr. Guevarra…”
Ares narrowed his eyes as he looked back in Kianna’s direction. She was walking away. He started to think about what he should do but in the end, he chose to go back to his company and meet Mr. Guevarra. While the meeting with Mr. Guevarra is ongoing, Ares couldn’t stop thinking about Kianna.
“I have a vision that this partnership would be a success, Mr. Vueravista.” Mr. Guevarra said as he express his happiness for the upcoming partnership of their company. “Anyway, I heard that you were still not dating anyone. Would you mind if I will arrange a date for you and my only daughter?”
Kyle’s eyes widened at what the CEO said. He then cleared his throat while looking at Ares.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Guevarra, but I will refuse your offer,” Ares mumbled.
“You are going to refuse? What is the reason for that?” Mr. Guevarra asked.
“I am already married—”
“Married?!” Everyone in the room shouted as they heard what Ares said.
“I never got the news that the CEO of Vueravista Company is already married.”
“I kept it a secret from the public. I stayed lowkey for a year now but that doesn’t mean that I am not proud of my wife's identity. Actually, she was my first love and hopefully my last…”
Mr. Guevarra nodded as he listened to Ares. “It looks like you are very serious in this marriage but why am I seeing the sadness in your eyes?”
“Uhmm… we have a misunderstanding and now she is leaving the country—”
“What?! Are you serious, boss?” Kyle interjected.
Ares nodded while a forced smile showed on the corner of his cheeks.
“Then what are you still doing here, Mr. Vueravista?”
“Pardon?”
“Why are you still here and not stopping your wife from leaving? Is it really okay for you to make her leave?” Mr. Guevarra seriously asked.
“No,” Ares answered. “Will it really be okay if I leave you here right now, Mr. Guevarra?”
“Of course, hijo. Go now and chase your life.” Mr. Guevarra said and smiled at Ares.
Ares hurriedly left the building with the hope that he would catch up with Kianna. He was restless and unable to calm himself. Kyle couldn't get close to him and talk to him because he knew how serious the situation is. There was nothing to do but keep quiet.
"Any updates? Tell them to make sure that Kianna won’t be able to leave the country.” Ares ordered Kyle. Kyle quickly conveyed the order to their people but they still haven't heard any news from them.
"Isn't there any way to speed up? Speed up the drive!" Ares ordered annoyed.
"Yes, boss." Ares’ personal driver answered and quickly drove the car.
KIA
I couldn't help but think about how strong I was for myself during the times when problems came to me one after another, I still can't believe how I coped with all of this.
"Kia, are you okay?" Miaree asked worriedly. She must have noticed that I was still staring out the window.
I nodded in response. She held my hand and leaned her head and closed his eyes. I just smiled and turned my attention back to the outside.
Maybe it's time for me to change the course of my life now. I believe too much in things that don't bring me anything good. I have given them too much just to hurt me. Now, it is time for me. I will put myself first...
I gasped and when I looked out the window I noticed that we were at the airport. I gently moved Miaree’s hand to wake her up, "Miaree… We're here…"
When she opened her eyes, she stretched and looked outside to see if we were really at the airport.
"We're here." Miaree’s personal driver said. He immediately went down to help Miaree and me get down one by one. When we got down, he took our things.
I was about to help him lift our things, but he refused. When we arrived, he just showed a piece of paper to the guard and they immediately let us in. When we went inside, Miaree’s three bodyguards met us.
I could tell they were bodyguards because of what they were wearing. They are all wearing black suits. Miaree's personal driver took the things from us and guided us inside.
We were about to go up the escalator when one of the airport staff suddenly stopped us. He told one of Miaree's guards something in a whisper, and then he went up to Miaree and whispered to her as well.
I don't know what they are talking about, but it seems like the things being discussed are too private and need to be whispered about. I'm not gossiping to spread whatever I hear from them.
"Here, Miss." One of Miaree’s bodyguards pointed out. Instead of taking the escalator and going up, we turned into a hallway. He took us to a room that was like a waiting area.
"What's happening?" I asked Miaree.
She just smiled at me and said, "There was just a problem regarding our flight. Wait, I'll just talk to them." Miaree said, and I nodded.
I thought that the bodyguard who was watching over us when Miaree came out would follow, but he remained standing in the corner as if he was watching over me.
"Don't you want to sit?" I offered it to him, but he just stared at me and shook his head slightly.
Meanwhile, when Miaree got out, her bodyguards assisted her and she walked toward the lobby. There were men there, and they all bowed at the same time when they saw Miaree.
"Young lady, we are very sorry for the inconvenience that we have caused but our boss wanted to see Miss Kianna Myst Saavedra." Said one of Ares's men. "Please allow us to take her." he added.
"And why would I do that? It's my best friend who doesn't want to see your boss." Miaree said while raising his right eyebrow.
"This is an order from the CEO of Vueravista Group. Please let us take Miss Saavedra." he still insists.
"I don't want to repeat myself again. Tell your boss to stop harassing my best friend, because if he doesn’t, I will be his enemy”
They were about to insist when they were suddenly blocked by a large number of security guards and bodyguards of the Ishii family. Miaree returned to the room where Kianna was and immediately pulled her, "Oh, what is happening? Are we going to leave now?" Kianna asked.
"Yes, we are leaving, and we need to hurry," Miaree said. Kianna was surprised because the number of bodyguards with Miaree had increased. The three earlier became ten. It surrounded them and seemed to lock them in the middle.
"Miaree, what's going on?"
Miaree just held Kianna’s hand and squeezed it gently. "Let's go?" she asked with a smile.
Confused, Kianna just nodded and did not ask again. They returned to the escalator. Kianna noticed a lot of people who seemed to be in trouble. "What's going on?" Kianna asked.
"Hmm? Oh, I don't have any idea." Miaree answered well. They quickly made their way to the private plane that was their plane to Australia.
Kianna felt indecisive as she climbed into the plane. Miaree looked at her curiously and said, "Is there a problem?"
“Nothing,” Kianna answered and smiled.
Is this really the best thing to do? Why do I feel like I shouldn't continue this anymore?
Kianna just shook her head and continued walking. The few staff who will be flying with them appeared before them.
Kianna couldn't stop looking out the window. She didn't know what she was looking at, but it was as if something was calling her, but she didn't know what it was. "Maybe it's because I didn't have enough time to sleep," Kianna whispered to herself.
Miaree turned to her and looked at her in surprise, "Are you saying something, Kia?" she asked her. Kianna immediately shook her head and just smiled.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Ares hurriedly got off the car upon arriving at the airport. He ran into the entrance and was confronted by a group of his staff who were forcibly blocked by security guards.
"What is happening here? Where is my wife?!" Ares asked them angrily.
Everyone stopped, and it was as if everyone felt scared by Ares's sudden shout. They all fell silent, and none of them had the courage to speak. After a while, the standing leader of them approached Ares.
"We already tried our best to get Ma'am Kianna, but Miss Ishii stopped us, boss."
"I said, where is my wife?! Are you telling me now that you let Kianna get away?" He didn't answer and just kept silent while bowing. "So that's a yes..." Ares’ jaw tensed and he pushed his staff hard.
He walked in, but like his men, he was immediately blocked by security guards and bodyguards of the Ishii family. He glared at them evilly, "If you don't leave my presence, I will make sure you all lose your jobs."
The security guards felt fear, and the doubt on their faces was obvious as to whether they were doing the right thing in blocking Ares. "One… two… Thre—"
"We're sorry, Mr. Vueravista, but we can't let you see Ms. Saavedra." We were strictly ordered not to let you get close to Ms. Saavedra. We are just following some orders. Please step back." Suddenly, one of the bodyguards of the Ishii family said.
It was as if Ares’ ear hurt, and he winced slightly and scratched his ear, staring him in the eye. "Why would the Ishii family not let me see my own wife?"
He said, "Again, we are just following some orders. We do not know the reason for that, Mr. Vueravista. I would advise you to talk directly to the head of the Ishii family." He said and, as if he signaled to his colleagues, they moved aside one by one.
“Mr. Vueravista? What are you doing here at this hour?” An old man interjected. “What are you all doing? Give some respect to the new boss of our company!” He ordered.
Everyone was caught off guard. “S-sir?? I don’t understand sir—”
“Mr. Vueravista is your new boss. Give some respect.”
Everyone got in line and bowed their heads at Ares. “We are very sorry for the inconvenience that happened, Mr. Vueravista.”
Ares didn’t pay any attention to them and immediately rushed inside. He looked out the window and saw the private plane that was being checked by a lot of crew. He immediately ran outside without even thinking how far it was, but the distance didn’t make him stop from his goal. “Stop! Don’t close the door!” Ares shouted at the flight attendant.
She looks confused, but when she hears a loud warning sound coming from somewhere, she immediately assists everyone in getting out of the plane. When everyone got out, Miaree looked shocked to see Ares.
“What the f*ck are you doing here??” she asked.
“I didn’t come here for you,” Ares said, and walked in Kianna’s direction.
“A-ares?! Why are you here?? What is going on??” Kianna asked, confused.
“Kianna Myst Saavedra, I won’t be able to live without you. So please, I am begging you to give me a chance. I have been planning to confess to you everything, but I didn’t have the courage to show this to you.” Ares said as he handed his phone to Kianna.
It was a video taken by Ares of the first time they met in high school. It shows a documentary video of Ares confessing everything, like he was just telling a story. Kianna didn’t know how to react to the situation. She ended up crying as she saw a clip where Ares was talking while taking a video of her while she was peacefully sleeping at the hotel where they met the second time.
[I wish I didn’t leave you back then…]
“You—you were that kid? But why didn’t you tell me?” Kianna asked.
“I was about to, but you said you didn’t want to be part of a rich person’s life anymore. I was scared, Kianna... I was afraid of losing the opportunity to be with you again, which is why I faked my identity—but my intention toward you was pure. Please give me a second chance…” Ares suddenly kneeled down as he held Kianna’s hand.
“Ares, you don’t have to do this—”
“I will do everything just to make you mine again…”
“No one said I’m not,” Kianna mumbled. Ares' eyes widen in surprise. “I am giving you a second chance Ares France Vuertalejo—if it that was your real name—”
“Ares Xavier Vueravista. That’s my real name, hon.” Ares stood up and hugged Kianna tightly. “Thank you for giving me a chance. I will not waste this chance, my soon-to-be Mrs. Vueravista.”
Kianna narrowed her eyes as she looked at Ares. “What do you mean, soon-to-be Mrs. Vueravista? Am I not your wife already?”
“You are but I wanted to formally marry you. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about our future together,” Ares continued, “Kianna, (he opened the ring case) will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?”
“Yes,” Kianna managed to say, and Ares took out the ring and placed it on his wife.
“It’s my mother’s ring. It’s been in the family for three generations.”
“Oh, Ares!” Kianna shouted, jumping into her man’s arms. Ares twirled her around as they kissed passionately.
Saying that life is perfect would be a lie. It goes up and down a lot. The key to happiness is being able to laugh and find small moments of joy even when things aren't going well. Dance when life rains down on you. You won't believe what a difference this will make.
