♥ CHAPTER THIRTY''FIVE♥
Dylan Thompson.
I'm in the office taking care of some mob errands and soon I hear screaming from downstairs. What the fuck is going on? I bolt out of the office and down the hall at inhuman speed.
"What's going on, guys?" '' I go downstairs, but I stop on the last step when I see Elisa on the floor, unconscious and with her head bleeding, while Alex tries to press the blood to contain it.
"What the fuck are you guys doing standing there?" We have to get her to the hospital right away! Come on, Lorenzo, call the ambulance! '' I scream, startling them.
It doesn't take long for the ambulance to arrive, and I watch her removal with a dull weight in my chest. The blood oozes non''stop, her skin is translucent, it's so pale. Christopher accompanies her while the others and I follow in the car right behind.
'' And Jessica? I ask, not taking my eyes off the ambulance ahead.
“She went for a walk before Elisa fell down the stairs,” Alex explains. “She was very scared, Dylan. He kept looking at me and he was very scared. ’ Tears well up in her eyes.
We decided not to say anything, our biggest concern right now is Elisa.
"Speed it up, Thomas!" I shout, a little irritated.
"And you think I'm not already doing this, damn it?" '' Hit back, as pissed off as I am. '' It's not my fault in this shit, the traffic is full.
I watch him grip the steering wheel so hard that the blood stops flowing in his fingertips.
"She'll end up dying like that, damn it!" '' Alex rants. “We need to get to that hospital soon, damn it!
“The ambulance will get around the situation,” I say, a little frustrated. Why is the traffic jammed just today?
I get Thomas out of the wheel and take over driving the vehicle, cutting through the cars in front of us and immediately catching up with the ambulance. Soon we arrive at the hospital and people are scared to see our despair, but I don't care. For her, I'll do anything and I won't lose the woman we all love, she is our air and our strength. She needs to get out of this alive and safe.
I almost lose consciousness when the emergency nurses cross the corridor with her on the stretcher, with the oxygen machine already on, and I follow her, being stopped by the doctor.
“You can't come in.
'' It's my wife inside, I want to go in. '' I try to get past her, at all costs.
'' Sir, we will do our best for your wife, but unfortunately you are not allowed entry. Please wait. She walks through the door and leaves me alone.
Desperate, I crouch on the floor and put my face in my hands. Please God, please don't take her.
I feel curious eyes on me and I decide to get up from the icy ground, as my brothers need support as much as I do. At the reception, I join them and I can't help myself, I end up crying in agony.
Be strong, Elisa, please, my love. Please don't leave us.
****
A few hours pass and none of the doctors appear. My brothers and I try to call Jessica, but she doesn't answer. Christopher is pacing back and forth, very worried and nervous, just like the rest of us.
'' Why is it taking so long? What is going on in that room? Thomas asks, getting to his feet. “We've been here four hours and nothing.
'' We are worried too, brother, we have to be patient. “Put your hands together.
'' Let's think positive, brother, we can't think of the worst '' Alex forces a smile. “We can't lose faith.
Some more time without news passes, and I stare at my shirt stained with blood, caused by the little contact I had with Elisa when I saw her sprawled on the floor at home.
“Guys, the doctor is coming. Alex announces and we all get up, going to him.
"Please, Doctor, tell me she's going to be okay." '' I ask, worried.
“Well, the patient lost a lot of blood and she went into cardiac arrest, but we managed to get her back. Right now, she is receiving a blood transfusion and there is a possibility that she will not wake up immediately, and she is at serious risk of losing her memory if she wakes up.
We all widened our eyes.
We lost it.
"S''she might not remember us?" Alex inquires and the doctor nods.
'It's a possibility, sir. I am really sorry.
We sigh.
"But will she be all right?" Lorenzo asks.
“She's out of danger, but we know the length of the coma is anyone's guess. I'm very sorry.
My knees give out from the shock and tears start to fall down my face. I don't care if everyone is seeing my despair, Alex hugs me in tears and I return, crying on his shoulder. I know my brother is trying to sound tough, but we just lost our wife.
“I'm terribly sorry, boys. Think she's just sleeping at the moment '' gives a small smile. '' If you want to see her, room is 310, excuse me. '' The doctor withdraws, leaving us alone.
“Let's see her,” Christopher says, wiping away his tears.
We agreed and we all went to her room. My brother opens the door and we soon find her lying on the bed, hooked up to some devices. We approach the bed and I take her hand.
“Elisa. “More tears fall down my face. '' My angel, please, I ask you not to leave us. Please don't abandon us. We all love you so much and without you, our world will turn to ashes. '' I cry a lot and kiss your hand affectionately. “We all love you, Elisa, please remember that.
As we leave the room, we look at each other and Christopher says, like a leader:
“It could be years, but as soon as she wakes up, we'll go back to our woman.
'' That's right. “I agree with him. “We'll leave her in the hands of the doctors, we'll pay everything necessary, and we'll be back as soon as she wakes up.
Don't worry, Elisa, we'll all move forward to make things better when you wake up. We will all become strong men to protect you and come back for you.
