Chapter 71
Velove blinked his eyes for a few moments. When his consciousness was fully collected, he then looked to the side and did not find Darwin lying beside him.
For a moment, Velove was silent. With deep frowns, he soon realized and remembered Darwin's question that left him leaving the room last night. Velove thought, maybe her husband had spent his time resting in the study and never came back.
Glancing at the digital clock on the nightstand, it was only six in the morning. Velove hastily got up to immediately go to the bathroom. After finishing cleaning himself and applying make-up as necessary, Velove then hurriedly walked towards the dining room. She thought, maybe this is an opportunity for her to meet her husband.
However, Velove's hopes vanished. As soon as he entered the dining room, he again did not find Darwin's figure there. Maybe the man really has a morning work schedule so he leaves quickly or even deliberately avoids it.
"Mr. Darwin left earlier, Non Velove," said Reni while pouring milk into a glass, which was then handed to Velove. "He had time to leave a message, he said non Velove had to have breakfast first before he could go to work."
Velove let out a long sigh. Apparently last night's drama is still continuing until this morning.
"He said he wasn't angry. But why are you sulking until this morning?" Velove muttered to himself. "If you want to order breakfast, he will talk directly to me," Velove squeaked this time in an annoyed tone of voice then took a sip of the milk in his glass.
"It seems that you are in a hurry. As far as I can see, Pak Randy picked me up."
"So you don't bring your own car?"
Ren shook his head.
"No, Miss. Darwin's car is still in front. He said that Non Velove was also told to take your father's car. Maybe you want to take him home with you."
Velove just nodded. Hope what Reni said is completely true. Hopefully when he comes home from work later his husband wants to be in the car with him. It's funny, just a few days together, now even silent each other.
Velove admits he might have gone too far. But, at least she was honest and apologized repeatedly to her husband. So, how much longer is Darwin going to be mad at him?
Ignoring what Reni just said, Velove continued to enjoy breakfast first. Once full, then he rushed to the office.
Velove spends the first two hours completing the rest of the work. So engrossed in copying reports, suddenly came Deasy approached the room. His friend came in with a box of cakes that he had bought from nowhere.
"Are you busy? I'm disturbing, right?" asked Deasy casually. Without being invited, the woman put down the cake box she brought, then sat right in front of Velove.
"Just see for yourself. Do you think I'm busy or not?" Velove replied without diverting his attention.
"It's really stupid actually. Whether you're busy or not, the point is I want to stop by and chat with you," said Deasy, laughing. "By the way, you got a cake delivery from Nathan."
Velove stopped his hand movement. Looking up, then glanced at Deasy.
"Cake delivery?"
"Yes," nodded Daisy. "Especially for you, he gave red Velove. Your favorite cake, right?"
Velove nodded. Out of all the cakes, he really liked red Velove and Nathan knew that. But, he was a little confused now, why did his ex-girlfriend suddenly send him a cake like now?
"What's wrong with Nathan sending cakes? No matter what, I won't be able to get back in touch with him again. I've decided to stay with Darwin no matter what."
Deasy pulled her face away. Staring at Velove with a mocking laugh, then he clearly heard his cackle with a cynical face.
"You don't need to be overconfident, Velove Vexia Fernando. Nathan doesn't just give cakes to you. But, almost all the bosses and division heads of the Wijaya Group. Uncle Darius also gets rations."
This time Velove's forehead looked wrinkled. Of course he was even more curious. For what purpose did Nathan distribute cakes to almost all important people in the Wijaya Group.
"Really amazing, for what purpose?"
"This is a parcel accompanied by an invitation," said Deasy. Then handed over a brown envelope containing an official invitation.
"What invitation is this?" asked Velove while opening the envelope.
"An invitation to a farewell ceremony. After the inauguration, Nathan will soon be leaving for China. As soon as the project is finished, he will go straight to work in Nevada. So, he did take the time to say goodbye to all of us."
Velove finally understood. It was hard to believe that after meeting and working together again, in the future, he and Nathan would be separated again and this time it might be for a very long time. In his heart, Velove sincerely prayed, that his ex-girlfriend in a new place could find a better companion than herself.
"Because this is the last chance..." continued Deasy. "I hope you will come, Ve. Don't worry. I won't force you to stay married to Nathan. I'm tired of matchmaking you guys, but I haven't come back either," Deasy pleaded with pouty lips.
Velove laughed. Until now, he sometimes wonders why his best friend is so struggling to reunite himself with Nathan. In fact, instead of getting back together with him, why didn't Deasy just have a relationship.
"Instead of forcing me to go back with Nathan, why don't you go out with him? After all, you're both single, right? Instead of being matched with a guy you don't know. It's better with Nathan, whose background and personality are clear."
Deasy chuckled lazily. For some reason, until this moment it had not occurred to him to have a relationship or build a household. Accustomed to living freely and focusing on work, it makes him lazy to find a partner.
"Marriage is easy, Ve. But, I'm too lazy to meet a husband who turns out to be a jerk like Darwin."
"Whoa!" Velove glared. She doesn't accept that her husband is being used as a bad example by her best friend. "Why are you carrying Darwin around, anyway?"
"Yes, I'm still resentful of your husband's behavior in the past. Why can there be a rude and ungrateful guy like him in this world. Where are you so easy to forgive him. Eh, now I'm back again."
Velove just laughed. Not the least bit offended by what Deasy told him.
"Don't hate too much, Des. I'm afraid that in the future you will be indebted, or need help from Darwin."
Deasy stared lazily. He even took his fingers and then tapped the table surface while saying repeatedly.
"Ihh, God forbid. Don't let me owe your husband anything. Too lazy."
Not long after, Dessy's cell phone rang. Receiving a call for a moment, the woman then said goodbye to Velove. Maybe there is work that must be completed immediately.
"Okay, I want to go back first. Don't forget, you'll come tomorrow. If your husband doesn't want to accompany you, just call me, we'll go together later."
Velove nodded. Review a smile then give two thumbs up as a sign that he agrees with the suggestion that Deasy conveyed.
After Deasy left, Velove then checked the watch on his wrist. Believing it was lunch time, he intended to come over to Darwin. She thought, she wanted to invite her husband to lunch. Even though Darwin doubted he would, there's nothing wrong with trying it first.

Since morning, Darwin has been busy attending meetings and important meetings with one of his clients. As soon as it was finished, he, who had been with Randy from the start, decided to return to the Khiel Group building.
Arriving at the room, Darwin seemed to rest his body for a moment. Sitting and leaning on the work chair, he then asked the secretary to bring drinks and snacks to eat with his cousin.
"It's a good thing that you know Pak Andreas closely. At least, the tender, which was stagnant yesterday, can finally be completed soon," said Darwin as he sipped the coffee in his cup.
Randy who sat across from him seemed to smile contentedly. It's a pleasure to be able to provide assistance to his cousin again today. In fact, if you are in a serious mode like now, you can really count on him.
"You're weird too, anyway. Why didn't you tell me from the start?"
"How can I understand if you know the owner of CT Corp. If Samuel doesn't tell you, maybe until the following years, this tender will never reach a meeting point let alone finish as expected."
Randi nodded. It is also grateful that the problems that Darwin had experienced were finally resolved.
"Yeah, next time if you need my help, just let me know."
Randy then enjoyed some of the cakes that Darwin's secretary served at the work table. While eating it, he again invited his cousin to talk before leaving to return to continue work.
"By the way, how does it feel to be back with Velove?"
Darwin lifted his face. He glanced at her, then smiled slightly.
"Just the same."
"Ordinary? Seriously just normal?" said Randy doubtfully.
In fact, a few days earlier, Darwin looked nervous, even like a madman because he had to hold back his longing for not being able to freely meet Velove. And now? After getting back together, the man said their meeting was casual? You freak.
"Do you think I should celebrate?" asked Darwin curiously.
"Yeah, it doesn't have to be anything, really. It's just that your attitude is weird. Besides, your relationship is fine, right?"
Darwin nodded. Even though there was a slight problem with Velove, this time he chose not to talk about it first. Lazy and afraid that later his mood will suddenly be damaged or dropped, which will actually interfere with his performance in the office.
"I'm fine," Darwin said, trying to reassure him.
In the middle of a conversation between Darwin and Randy, unexpectedly Velove came and immediately approached. Without the slightest awkwardness, the woman immediately smiled at Darwin and Randy in turn.
"I'm not disturbing your working hours, am I?" asked the woman as she glanced at Darwin and Randy.
"No, really. Just relax," said Randy. After saying that, the man then finished the rest of the coffee in his cup. Then seemed to get up, ready to leave.
"Because I still have a lot of deadlines that I have to complete, I'll say goodbye first. You guys, please just continue the conversation."
"How come it's so fast?" asked Velove when he saw Randy who was getting ready to leave.
"I've been with Darwin since morning. So, I'm bored and need some refreshment. Anyway, I'll go first. You guys just keep going. Besides, I'm too lazy to disturb a couple who want to be intimate."
When Randy left, Velove then continued his plan. Focusing back on Darwin, then greeting his husband who seemed focused on reading the file in his hand.
"This morning, I was looking for you. I thought we would go to work together," Velove said carefully. Actually anxious, afraid that her husband would ignore her existence.
"I'm in a hurry," said Darwin. The man's focus did not shift from the file in his hand. "After all, I've already given a message to Mba Reni too, right?"
Velove reflexively nodded his head.
"Yes. Mba Reni has told me. Then, this afternoon, are we going home together?"
Darwin nodded back.
"Just wait. I'll pick you up later."
Velove smiled. Even though he felt a little uneasy, at least he was quite relieved because Darwin still wanted to ignore and respond to what he said.
"Ah, yes..." Velove continued after being silent for a while. "Tomorrow afternoon at the weekend, there will be a farewell event for Nathan. You can accompany me to go, right? We are both invited."
Hearing Velove's words, Darwin then closed the file he was reading. Staring at his wife for a few moments, then he seemed to take a deep breath, before finally speaking.
"I can't accompany you to go. But, if you want to come. Please just come. I won't forbid you."
"You seriously let me go alone?"
Darwin nodded once.
"You're already big, why shouldn't I forbid you. If you want to come to Nathan's party, go ahead."
Velove felt deja vu with the cold demeanor that Darwin was showing at this time. She seemed to have returned to the past where her husband often treated her coldly as if they didn't know each other.
So, is this part of Darwin's anger since last night? Because usually, Darwin wouldn't let Velove go alone. Moreover, this is attending an event that Nathan is holding.
However, not wanting to make things worse, Velove chose to remain silent and not argue. She realized that maybe her husband was still a little angry with her until this moment.
"Okay then. Have you had lunch yet?" asked Velove deliberately changing the subject.
"No," said Darwin briefly.
"I haven't eaten either. How about we have lunch together first?" Velove offered later.
Darwin then shook his head. After tidying up the files he had read earlier, the man was seen getting up from the chair. Stepping forward, approached Velove who had been standing not far from his desk.
"I don't intend to have lunch with you, Ve. I still have a lot of work to finish. Now, even I want to meet my next client. So, it's better for you to eat alone."
Without waiting for an answer from Velove, Darwin walked away. Again, the man deliberately left his wife, as if deliberately avoiding and not wanting to be involved in a lot of contact, be it meetings or talks. And I don't know, how long will Darwin be cold like that.
