Chapter 1193 Becoming a Savior for the First Time: The First Clash with Thanos
"Will she know it's you?" Wanda asked with some concern.
“Guess,” Aaron chuckled, “I probably guessed it. After all, I’m the only mage in Asgard who knows Kamar-Taj magic at this time.”
"You guessed it?" Wanda paused for a moment, a strange complexity flashing in her eyes, but then followed by a strong sense of joy and relief. "Since you guessed it, let's just lay it all out."
"Never mind all that, just take her away. We'll deal with the rest after Ragnarok."
“No.” Aaron rejected the suggestion decisively. “Even if she figured it out, as long as I don’t actually show myself, this magician doesn’t have to be me.”
"As long as I'm not embarrassed, it's everyone else who's embarrassed." Banner chuckled dryly, forcing a smile. "Is that what you mean?"
Aaron shrugged and said nothing.
He noticed the hesitation and struggle on Wanda's face and patiently explained, "You know what kind of person she is. As Ragnarok approaches, the last queen who is trying her best to prevent the end of Asgard is undoubtedly the proudest and the most resolute."
"At this point, you want me to run away with her? That's just blatantly humiliating her."
"But..."
"No buts. Even if we were to take her away, we would have to do it at the very last moment before she couldn't hold on any longer. Otherwise, I wouldn't have stayed in Asgard all this time."
Only by preserving the Queen's dignity can we avoid awkwardness when we meet again in the future.
"It wouldn't be difficult for me to take her away now, but she'll hate me for the rest of her life because of this."
"this..."
Wanda opened her mouth as if to say something, but then swallowed it back.
She wanted to save Hela and the baby in her womb more than anyone else, but she couldn't let the baby's parents never see each other again because of this!
Thinking of this, Wanda sighed helplessly.
It seems that the only option now is to keep a close watch on Hela and find the most suitable time to rescue her, without any unexpected incidents.
"Creator, there seems to be new activity in the temple," the prophet warned, projecting his discovery onto the main screen.
The temple's hatch slowly opened, and Thanos, clad in a suit of golden armor, disregarded the vacuum environment and leisurely boarded a small flying vehicle to the top of the temple.
Thanos jumped down, adopting a powerful stance and looking at the Monster spaceship with disdain.
"Ha! Hahahaha..."
Upon seeing this, Aaron couldn't help but burst into laughter, laughing so hard that tears almost streamed down his face.
"You have some nerve! You've already witnessed my magic, yet you still dare to provoke me like this."
Should I call him confident, or arrogant?
“I can understand,” Banner said weakly. “Just look at the Infinity Gauntlet on his left hand and you’ll understand. The four Infinity Stones give him a lot of confidence.”
"But there should be a limit to looking down on people," Aaron scoffed, his patience with Thanos reaching its limit.
If he weren't worried about his identity being exposed, he really wanted to show Thanos what the majesty of the God of Magic was all about.
However, Thanos really angered him. He provoked him time and time again. Did Thanos really think he had no temper?
"System, open the task panel."
Stop Thanos and save half of all life in the universe;
The reward for completing the task is 5000 magic points; there is no penalty for failure. Do you accept?
Looking at the task, Aaron finally stopped hesitating and made a positive choice.
Originally, he thought it was better to avoid trouble, but Thanos was really ungrateful, so he didn't mind playing the role of savior.
However, this requires careful planning and must be done after Ragnarok.
"What do you plan to do?" Banner asked with a meaningful smile, "Go out and have a one-on-one fight with him?"
"Otherwise what? Are you going?" Aaron rolled his eyes at him, then snapped his fingers and changed into a dark blue trench coat.
"Wait a minute." Wanda suddenly remembered something and hurriedly called out to him, "How can I notify you if something happens here?"
"Just say it, I can hear you." Aaron chuckled, kissed her forehead, and turned to leave the control room.
"What exactly are you worried about?" Banner asked, puzzled.
Wanda shook her head with a wry smile, saying nothing, but anxiously watching the situation in Asgard.
Aaron didn't ride any flying vehicle; he simply put on a hood and went straight through a portal to stand on top of the Monster Ship, facing Thanos across the distance.
Thanos frowned as he watched this scene; this unfamiliar way of making an entrance reminded him of the Ancient One.
No, the Ancient One is dead; it's just that her robes were yellow, not dark blue.
Although his face is not clearly visible, one thing is certain: this is indeed a powerful mage.
"It's been a long time, young mage."
"Enough with the nonsense. Our time is precious. I only have one question," Aaron said, holding up a finger. "I've clearly stated that I won't interfere with your plans, so why are you so fixated on me?"
"My intuition tells me that you will be an obstacle to my achieving my ideals."
"What?" Aaron chuckled. "I have to admit, your premonition was really accurate!"
"I didn't want to bother with you. Even if you wiped out half of all life in the universe, it wouldn't concern me. But you've really crossed me."
Thanos nodded slightly; this situation was within his expectations.
"Then there's nothing more to say."
The next moment, Thanos clenched his left fist, and the Power Stone on the Infinity Gauntlet flashed with a bright purple light.
A ball of purple energy gathered in front of Thanos's left fist, and then Thanos made a punching motion, sending a purple energy shockwave straight toward Aaron.
Aaron simply waved his hand, and two teleportation portals instantly formed.
One was in front of him, and the other was behind Thanos.
Just as the shockwave was about to enter the portal, the Power Stone on the Infinity Gauntlet dimmed, while the blue Space Stone began to flicker.
The two teleportation portals were distorted by an invisible force and vanished into nothingness in an instant.
Aaron immediately crossed his arms and summoned the Shield of Seraphim.
A massive red magic circle instantly formed, providing all-around, three-dimensional protection for Aaron.
Boom!
The shockwave struck the Seraphim Shield, causing the lines forming the magic circle to tremble violently, but ultimately it failed to break through the defense from the front.
A torrent of energy burst forth, sweeping past the edge of the magic circle and blasting a small patch of meteorite behind it into dust.
Wow! That was really ruthless!
Aaron spoke in a flippant tone, then two magic circles appeared in his hands, releasing dense and thick crimson lightning.
The Space Stone flickered rapidly, and a miniature black hole appeared above Thanos's fist, swallowing all the dense lightning bolts and compressing them quickly.
Thanos threw another punch, the compressed lightning merging with the pure energy provided by the Power Stone to form a crimson energy storm.
Aaron formed hand seals and released a ball of orange-red energy before the energy storm approached.
boom!
The moment the two energies collided, the orange-red color vanished without a trace, a magic circle flashed by, and the purplish-red energy all transformed into pale green butterflies that shimmered and fluttered about.
"Hoggos the Elder is one of the more difficult defensive spells to master in Kamar-Taj," Aaron remarked with considerable emotion.
Thanos pinched a butterfly that had turned into specks of light and vanished, a complex look flashing in his eyes.
As expected, the opponent was no pushover, but he was sure to win in the end.
boom!
Suddenly, Asgard burst forth with dazzling light, flames of destruction surged forth, and earth-shattering explosions, accompanied by intense heat, pierced through the atmosphere, even shaking the two spaceships, the 'Monster' and the 'Temple'.
"Oh my God!" Wanda's eyes widened in disbelief.
Just now, Hela's barrier shattered completely, flames shot into the sky, and the magnificent palace and the city built around it collapsed and crumbled in an instant, turning into a sea of scorching ashes and ruins.
"Asgard is finished. There probably won't be a single intact building left." Banner swallowed hard, staring at the colossal giant on the screen, wielding a massive sword. "Is that Surtur, the Fire Giant King?"
“Be confident, drop the ‘ma’,” Aaron said, somewhat agitated. “He is.”
It must be admitted that Surtur's body was incredibly large; even outside the atmosphere, one could clearly see a towering fire giant.
"Tremble beneath my feet, Asgard!"
I am your end.
Surtur raised his greatsword and swung it downwards.
The buildings of Asgard collapsed like building blocks; a large section crumbled with just a gentle swipe of the flaming greatsword, followed by a massive burst of flames.
"This is huge!" Loki forced a smile and pursed his lips. "Even the highest mountain in Midgard doesn't reach his chest. It must be over ten thousand meters tall."
“If you’re scared, step back,” Thor said in a deep voice. “I’m not kidding, Loki.”
Surtur has definitely surpassed the Heavenly Father; even if Hela and I, and my sister together, we might not be able to defeat him.
Loki shrugged, then jumped onto Fenris's back. "I feel like I'm missing a weapon. Does anyone know where Odin's Gungnir is?"
"Search for yourself in the ruins!" Hela sneered, then opened her arms and released her divine power.
Suddenly, a strange sound came from the sea, and a huge, dark green spike flew out of the sea and pierced Surtur's chest.
Surtur grunted, his sword-wielding motion momentarily halting.
Immediately afterwards, a bunch of giant spikes connected together rose from the seabed, like a wolf's tooth magnified countless times, and in the blink of an eye, they rose to the side of the Rainbow Bridge.
Hela leaped onto the main trunk, continuously unleashing spikes to attack Surtur as she rose.
However, the effect was not ideal. Even though Surtur was pierced by several sharp spikes, he did not show any signs of pain, only slowing down his movements slightly.
The spikes that pierced the fiery body were melting rapidly, as if they had never existed.
"Let's go too!"
Thor's arms were crackling with blue lightning as he swung them downwards at Surtur.
Blue and white lightning descended from the sky like a pillar of light, crashing heavily onto Surtur's crown.
boom!
Surtur's head shook, and several gaps appeared on the huge fire crown, but they were repaired by the Eternal Flame in the blink of an eye.
"Looks like it won't do much good," Loki said bluntly. "It's a little better than tickling."
Forgive my bluntness, brother, but there's absolutely nothing we can do to stop him.
Thor rolled his eyes at him, thinking to himself, "Isn't that obvious?"
"I didn't intend to stop it; our goal was just to buy time."
"Help Hela, help our sister; buy time for Frigga, for our mother, to open the Rainbow Bridge."
"What about you? If you have any skills, show them off quickly. Now is not the time to hide them."
"Deceiving such a large target would consume a great deal of magic power, so I don't have many opportunities to do it, maybe only once or twice."
Brother, you should understand what it means to use good steel where it's needed most!
"I understand, of course I understand."
"Then helping me cover shouldn't be a problem, right?"
Loki immediately understood, "That's no problem, but..."
"Stop talking nonsense and hurry up."
Loki had no choice but to cast an illusion on Thor, leaving his image in place and helpless alongside him, while his real body disappeared and raced rapidly toward Surtur.
......
Boom!Boom!Boom!
Aaron summoned two Rings of Laggardor, which clashed with Thanos, who was continuously releasing energy blasts, from a distance of several hundred meters.
The orange-red magic and the purple energy collided and annihilated each other, and for a time neither could defeat the other.
At that moment, a flash of blue light appeared on Thanos's left fist, and a black and white spatial vortex swept towards Aaron.
The vortex expanded continuously during its flight. It was only the size of a basketball at first, but by the time it reached Aaron, it was large enough to engulf him and the spaceship beneath his feet.
Shit! Being able to control space is amazing!
Aaron cursed under his breath and immediately summoned a slowly rotating transparent sphere of light.
The sphere of light rapidly expanded, forming a bright and dazzling crystal mirror.
Click!
The sound of shattering glass rang out, the mirror broke into countless pieces, and the black and white vortex disappeared along with the broken mirror.
“Mirror space,” Thanos murmured.
"I only know this one spatial magic, but it's more than enough."
"Your magic is not limitless, nor are you as powerful as your teacher, the Ancient One," Thanos said calmly, while labeling Aaron as the Ancient One's disciple.
Aaron didn't deny it, since he only had half the magic power at the moment and was using all the magic from Kamar-Taj!
“Indeed, there isn’t much magic that can be borrowed,” Aaron said, half-jokingly. “But it seems you can’t use the Infinity Stones at will either.”
If I'm not mistaken, you have to clench your fist before you can use the Infinity Stones.
Thanos snorted, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
Even if you know, you still can't beat them.
"Besides, if I want to leave, you can't stop me."
“But you won’t leave.” Thanos glanced at Asgard, engulfed in flames. “What did the Ancient One send you to Asgard for?”
"Why the Ancient One? Couldn't I have come on my own?"
