Chapter 71: Sometimes You Do The Wrong Things
All his life he has felt like he didn't belong. First, he was adopted into a family that really didn't want him. They only wanted what they could get from the government because of him. It wasn't till he became an adult and moved out that he realized families weren't supposed to be like that. They were meant to be loving and supportive.
In high school, he felt that he never belonged either. So, one day he left and never came back. He got a job and left his parent’s house to never return. They weren't his family anyway. He remembers the day they told him that he wasn't their son. They said they only adopted him so it would support their drug habit.
Who does that to someone who loves you? Knowing that you're their world, everything to them. Apparently, they did. So, when he found this out, he decided that the best thing was just to leave.
With the job he made enough in a week to move into a little shed of an apartment. A little old man had a garage he turned into a studio apartment that was about the size of the bathroom at the pizza place. But he didn't care because it was his and he finally had a place to belong to.
A few weeks afterwards he found out that this girl he had sex with got pregnant. She told him that she was on the pill, but it was apparent that she lied to him. He said to her several times that he would be there for the child, but she refused to let him ever be involved. Matter of fact, she moved away and never told him. He would have given that child anything.
When he heard about the pizza joint hiring for two dollars more an hour, he jumped on it. He didn't need a high school diploma and they had flexible hours. He also got to meet interesting people. Occasionally, he would find an old lady who was lonely. Instead of the pool boy he was the pizza boy and he got tipped well.
He smiles as he remembers the first time an older woman showed him how to treat a woman right and satisfy her, then he found out the hard way that these women often had husbands who wanted to watch while he satisfied their wives. He often wondered what the matter with them was.
How could you watch someone please your wife when you’re right there touching yourself? It paid the bills, but it made him feel ill inside. Is this what relationships turn into when you get bored with each other? He couldn't help believing that this was so wrong.
He wanted a relationship desperately with someone where he loves them more than anything. That when he sees her face, he feels like his world is right in front of him. Till now he has never found it. Samantha is different, he feels she is the one. When he looks into her eyes all he sees is sadness and it makes him feel like he needs to make her happier than anyone on this planet.
As he thinks about his life he looks up and notices they have left. The sadness that fills him at that moment he’s not ready for and it hits him like a ton of bricks. He looks around for them and then sees Samantha's coat is still on the chair. They must have gone to the bathroom.
The sense of relief that runs through him is irrational and he realizes that he must make sure that she is going to go out with him tomorrow night and not blow him off. He grabs a red rose from a vase behind the counter and as he sees them return to the table to pick up their coats he arrives.
"Samantha, I want to make sure that you know I won't take our friendship lightly. I look to see you tomorrow night at eight, at your house. Then he hands her the rose and kisses her forehead very lightly, almost as if his lips don't touch her skin. She blushes and then she hurries to the car as Kelly follows.
"Damn, you have made a definite impression on that man! I would say he's got a crush on you.” Kelly pokes her in the arm as she starts the engine.
"You know I don't need complications right now. I just can't believe he's pushing it so hard."
"He really wants you. I admire him. That man knows what he wants and he's going for it completely. You know that he's a good man and would do anything for you. I can tell."
"Stop, I just can't do this! It is too much too soon." she turns her attention to the window on the way home. When they arrive, Samantha changes and then goes for a run. It's night-time but this is when she thinks the best. She needs Kelly out of her hair for the moment.
While on her run she watches the trees start to sway as the wind picks up. It reminds her fondly of the time Ben proposed. They were on the Capital Bridge outside of town walking hand in hand when he stops her and gets down on one knee. He asks her and immediately she says yes. Then he picks her up and gives her a wonderful kiss.
Tears start to slip out of the corner of her eye, and she wipes at them. When she turns the corner, she smacks right into a Jonathan. He is bent down tying his shoe, but before he thinks about it he bolts up and reaches out to her. He stops her from falling just in time.
In his arms she sighs, "Oh God, I'm so sorry. I have never." He cuts her words off as he pulls her in and kisses her. The kiss is far from friendly. She can feel the need in it as he holds her from moving. Yet strangely, she doesn't want to leave. It feels so right.
His lips glide over hers as his tongue slides into her open mouth, hungrily taking what he wants so bad. She can feel his body reacting to hers as he becomes hard and unforgiving. Surprisingly, hers betrays her and shows him just how much she has missed being touched by a man.
First, her nipples harden underneath her t-shirt and silky bra. Next, she becomes extremely wet. If he were to slide a finger in her panties, he would find out just how much she wants him. Breaking her train of thought he suddenly pushes away from her. He looks down at the ground and then back at her.
"I am so sorry. I was just walking home from work. Are you O.K? I didn't see you coming around the corner, I was tying my shoe."
She couldn't believe he was acting like they didn't just have a completely passionate moment. Maybe he doesn't want her like she thought he did, and she just completely read him wrong.
"Oh, it's o.k. I am the one who ran into you. I wasn't expecting someone to be bending down right there. Sorry. Did I hurt you at all?"
"No, of course not." He pauses for a minute. "Look, I'm sorry. It's not like a beautiful woman falls into my arms every day. Specially one who I wouldn't mind falling into my arms."
She decides she wants to go out on a limb and asks, "So you said you were walking home. Do you live right around here then?"
"Yeah, this is me." He points right at this little house about two spaces up. "I just moved in here last week. I had been living in a little old man's garage for a while, but I have saved up enough to get this place. It's actually not that much a month."
She looks at him and then takes the plunge, "Can I come over for a bit?"
