Chapter 15
Lily felt slight pains in her head. She was tired and wanted to sleep more but she was restless too.
She wanted to see her father. She was worried that something might have happened to him in the process of getting her back.
She was glad she was safe but there was no way she'd be able to forget why she went through easily.
"Lily, we are so sorry." Stacy said as tears rolled down her cheek. Lily wondered the reason for their apology.
"I'm fine. What is wrong? You didn't hurt me did you?" She said.
Dorothy sniffled, "We are sorry. Part of this is all of our fault and we know it." Dorothy said.
"What do you mean? How is it your fault?" She asked with evidence of worry laced on her tone.
"We shouldn't have let you leave. We shouldn't have made you angry, just maybe then you wouldn't have left and be kidnapped." Stacy clarified.
Lily felt the urge to laugh but she couldn't. Her friends were hilarious. "You guys are funny. It's none of your fault." She said to them.
"Yes it is. We could have help prevented this had we not gotten into a stupid fight with Ariana and made you angry that you had to leave. You would have been with us and now look at your face!" Stacy cried out.
Lily sighed. "It's all fine. It's none of your fault. Either way, they have been planning it for quite a while and If they had not today, maybe they would have another day." She defended.
"You have got to be kidding me Lily." Dorothy said in disbelief.
"They wouldn't have. Stop this already! I feel you are hiding something from us. Either way we are to be blamed and we are really sorry." Stacy said.
"It's all fine." She said to them and just then Liam came back into the room with food.
Lily made an attempt to get up from the bed but Stacy refused to let her. "Don't stress it Lily, I will help you." She said as she moved closer to Lily to help her sit on the bed.
Lily groaned as she sat down. She was exhausted and hungry too. "Where is my father?" She asked again.
She wouldn't rest unless she heard she was fine. She wanted to see her father, she was worried that something must have happened to him as her father wasn't one who wouldn't be right beside herself after all she's been through.
"Lily your father is fine. He went.to the station." Liam informed her. Lily began to cry, making them wonder why she was crying.
"What is wrong Lily, what are the tears?" Stacy asked with a hint of concern laced on her tone.
"Something... something happened to my father right?please...please tell me?" She choked in her words.
Liam smiled. The fact she was as worried as her father was earlier made him smile. They both loved each other and their actions showed that a lot.
It was normal for a family to love one another but the concern Lily and her father had for each other was as if they would die without one of them in this world.
"Nothing happened Lily. Your father is fine. He just left to go see Lucas in the station. He was hurt seeing you like this. It broke him and he cried so went to the station to hurt Lucas as much as he hurt you." Liam explained.
Stacy and Dorothy gave themselves a knowing look as they stared at Liam and Lily. They could tell Liam and Lily had a natural chemistry between them. The way they looked at once another and how Liam especially treated her showed he really adored and respected her.
"You wouldn't want to starve yourself with all this pain right? Come on, let me feed you." Liam suggested and she nodded her head.
Just as he started to feed her, the door opened and Chris came in. He thought Liam and her father had gone already as he didn't hear sound and Lily's father's car was gone. He looked at Lily and then at Liam who held a spoon close to Lily's mouth.
Lily's eyes met his and her stomach churned. She didn't want to see him and she didn't want him close to her. She was still hurt by what he did and seeing him now only made her heart ache and she lost her appetite.
"Hello." Chris said awkwardly.
Liam's facial expression changed. He didn't want to see Chris not after the confrontation he had with him earlier and how Chris had said some words that hinted he might have done some things with Lily.
"Leave." Lily said stern and firm.
Chris was taken aback by her action. He wasn't expecting her to react the way she did and although he wasn't expecting her to forget what happened earlier today, he wasn't expecting her to send him off so quickly.
Chris said nothing, nodded his head and left. As soon as he left, Lily took in a deep breath.
She was glad he was gone because that was she was gonna get over her remaining feelings for him. She wanted nothing to do with him anymore. If anything they've had more issues than they've made up and it showed they weren't good for one another.
"Why do I feel there was so much tension?" Dorothy said nonchalantly. As soon as Chris came in, there was quietness and as soon as he left, it was as if something left with him.
Liam and Lily said nothing to each other as he kept feeding her again. Lily's father finally came and Lily was more than overjoyed when she saw him.
"Daddy!" She cried out as she opened her arms for him. He wrapped his arms around her, kissing her all over her face. He was glad she was safe and sound.
"My baby. I'm so sorry. Daddy is so sorry for everything you went through." He apologized.
"I was scared of my father. I thought something had happened to you." Lily confessed.
"Nothing happened, my dearest. If anything I'm glad you are safe. You do not know how worried I was Lily. I am glad you are fine. I was about to cry when he threatened to kill you or even so I cried." He confessed.
******************************
Chris was ready to leave. He was ready to go start afresh and neither be a bodyguard or a loverboy but a happy person.
He was going to live his life simple and easy. He began to pick his stuff from the room he slept in and put them all in a bag he wanted to leave before Lily came back. He would have loved to talk to her before he left but since he couldn't, he would drop a letter in her room for her.
After he was ready to leave, he wrote the letter and in it was;
Dear Lily, by the time you get this letter, I am out of your life already and as far away from you as possible. I am glad you are safe and in good hands. I was quite worried and I blamed myself for not protecting you as it was my job to keep you safe but due to our situationship, I had failed to do so. Your father knows there is another in your heart and by another I mean me and he requested I find that man for him and you know what the end would be if he finds out it was me which was why I had to cut it off with you. I'm sorry I hurt you and I'm sorry for making you cry more than you smile. I know I won't be able to make it up to you but I just wanted to let you know, I do feel you the same way you feel me but together we are impossible. I am sorry Lily and I wish you the very best. Liam is a very good man and I know he would take care of you better than I could ever. I hope you smile more and you live freely.
Chris went to her room and he placed the letter on top of her nightstand before leaving. Once he was outside, he looked at the mansion once more and he smiled.
It was as if it was yesterday he had just come into the mansion. It was dark already and he knew not where he was going but he knew he would get somewhere.
He pulled his bag along with him as he left, still reminiscing his moments with Lily and the days he spent in the mansion.
***********************
Lily was discharged after two days. When she got back home, all she wanted to do was sleep and have enough privacy. She wasn't in the mood to speak to anyone or see anyone as she wanted time for herself.
She hasn't been able to get over the torture she got from Lucas and the words he hurled at her. She has been acting tough for the past two days not wanting anyone to see her break down to console her. She was finding it hard to get over the memory and how disgusted she felt being in their presence.
As she fell down flat on her bed, she cried. There was no way she'd forget what she went through and how she was tortured so soon. She inhaled and exhaled deeply before she closed her eyes so she could sleep.
After some minutes, she found it hard to sleep. As much as she tried not to think of Chris, she couldn't. She had told him to leave the other day but she immediately wished she hadn't but it was too late.
He never returned and she kinda wished he did. When she stepped her food in the mansion, she used her eyes to search around for him but couldn't find him. She wondered where he could be. She remembered her father telling her he was going to punish Chris for not doing his job and she had not convinced him that she was the one that told Chris not to follow her.
She lifted her head up and her eyes landed on the piece of note on her nightstand. The skin between her brows creased in confusion as she wondered how it got there and where it came from. She doesn't remember leaving any note and it's weird seeing one in her room.
She stretched her hands and took the paper. She opened it and the first line she read made her eyes welled with tears as she recognized who it was that wrote the letter for her.
As she kept reading, tears rolled down her cheek, wetting the paper. Her heart ached and her head too. He had gone without telling her goodbye and he left a note for her too.
Now she knows why he had treated her badly that day. Her father had found out and he didn't want to complicate things more than they were already. Chris and her might have been toxic together but he was part of those who helped her realise who she was, what she wanted and what her feelings were.
She was able to drop some of her pride and laughed a lot too.
"You shouldn't have left." She muttered as she cried.
"You should have waited for me to return first before leaving. You bad person!" She said.
He had wished her well and told her to stay happy with Liam but there was no way she'd be able to do that. She liked Liam but the like she has for Chris surpassed that of which she has for Liam.
"You are bad Chris! As always you hurt me and leave and now I am the one who has to suffer for it. I hate you!" She spat out in tears.
