Chapter 16
A new time, new time, new season and new year. The time passes by like a wind and before anyone could fathom it, a year had gone by since Lily got kidnapped and A year since Chris left.
It took Lily more than a month to fully gather herself and another month to have her confidence back. Stacy and Dorothy were supportive as they came to visit her everyday and engaged her in different activities to help her move in.
It was hard at first as Lily wanted to be alone but with time, she started to open up and started to go out.
Liam on the other hand had respected her and gave her enough space. He didn't come visit her but he made sure to call and check up on her daily. She started to feel bad for ignoring and avoiding him but still she didn't stop or change.
She was still nursing her heart and getting over Chris. She didn't want to involve Liam in the process or make him feel bad which was why she was staying far away from him.
She wants no one to know that she was ever involved with Chris and wanted to let the past be gone. Chris might have wished her a happy life with Liam but then again it was her life and she got to do whatever she wanted to do with it.
Involving Liam while she was struggling wasn't part of it and she promised to get back to him when she was done with it and as promised she spoke to Liam when she was mentally, physically and emotionally fit. She told him she wasn't ready to rush into any relationship and they should start from the start as friends and ever since then, they've been doing well.
They have not made anything official but they both like each other but neither has made any move. Liam respected Lily enough to not do anything she didn't want and has been taking things slowly with her.
Lately Liam hasn't been visiting Lily as he usually does. At first she thought he was busy but she later found out that aside from being busy, he just didn't want to visit her. She had come to know of this when she went to visit him in the office two days ago but found out he left already.
She went to his house and when she was outside, she dialed his line and when she asked where he was and what he said he was doing, he lied to her and told her that he wasn't at home and he was at the office.
She was hurt. She wondered why he had lied and what she had done for him to say so. They were on good terms and he had promised to come see her the other day too. She decided that maybe he was busy and wanted some time for himself because he lied until he did the same the next day but this time she saw him at the supermarket and she called to hear what he'd say to her but he told her he was at the office.
Not wanting to disturb him anymore, she didn't bother calling him again and he hadn't done so either. She was hurt and wished she could find out what it was on his mind but because he had hurt her, she didn't want to see nor speak to him.
Her phone rang beside her and with thoughts that it might be Liam, she decided not to answer the phone but after three rings, she did look at her phone and it turned out to not be Liam calling her. It was Dorothy. She felt disappointed but shrugged it off before she answered the phone.
"Hey girl," Lily said.
"Lily!" Dorothy screamed through the phone making Lily pull the phone away from her hear as Dorothy's voice was loud.
"What the hell Dee! What's the screaming for?" She asked, trying to catch her breath.
Dorothy chuckled, "Where are you? Come join Stacy and I. We are partying." Dorothy announced.
Lily mentally face palmed herself. "You know I quit parties and crowded places." Lily said to her.
"Quit parties? Oh don't be ridiculous. You can quit but you have to come down here as soon as you can and make sure you come with guards, I do not want you to be harmed." Dorothy cautioned.
Lily sighed, "Why do you want me there and what is there that you want me to see?" She asked.
"Dee, I'm exhausted and I do not have any strength for partying. Currently I'm sleepy." She informed Dorothy. It wasn't that she was sleepy but her heart was heavy at the moment. As much as she tried not to be affected by Liam's attitude, she couldn't help it.
She wondered if she had offended him for him to lie to her and end the call before she even bid him farewell. She was always the one ending the call first and a day had not gone by without Liam calling her up to three times but now he hadn't made an attempt unless she called him.
She was worried and she wished she knew what it was that was up with him.
"Liliana, when you come you will see for yourself and you seriously need to come down here." Dorothy tells her.
"Please enlighten me Dee. Please," she pleaded.
"You know I have a frightened heart and I won't be able to handle anything that has to affect my heart." She tells her friend.
Dorothy sighed. "Okay. Well Stella and I bumped into Liam in the club." Dorothy announced.
Lily's heart beat in joy when she heard his name but then she thought about what he was doing in the club.
"And?" She asked.
"Well do not be sad Lily. He isn't alone. He is with a girl but I do not think you should be worried about that. Kindly come to the club and claim your man!" Dorothy said excitedly.
As much as Lily loved the thought of Liam being her man, she knew he wasn't. "He is not my man and whatever he is doing has nothing to do with me." She said trying to not sound hurt.
"Come on girl! You and I know that both of you have a very powerful chemistry and he likes you and so do you. So what's the issue? Why do I feel you are hiding something Lily? Come on, speak to me Liliana," Dorothy urged her.
"Nothing Deep. There is nothing going on. I just don't feel the need to go to the club. I mean when I come, what do I do and what do I say?" She asked.
Dorothy chuckled, "Seriously Lily? Are you asking that? I mean are you asking what you are supposed to come and do here? Wow, my friend indeed is a new being," Dorothy laughed but Lily wasn't finding it funny.
"You do realise it is not funny right?" Lily said to Dorothy and Dorothy stopped laughing.
"Okay my bad. Anyways, please come. You do not have to go to Liam directly, you can act surprised seeing him." Dorothy informed her.
Lily sighed, "Okay fine. I will be there in fifteen m '' she informed me.
As much as Lily told herself to not be bothered by her dressing, she couldn't help it while knowing Liam was there. She was conscious of what she'd wear and how she'd look in front of him.
She took out a black leather mini skirt, a white turtleneck crop top from er closet then she went to where she kept her shoes and took out a black booth to match.
After dressing up, she didn't wear much makeup other than a concealer and red lipstick. She didn't draw her brows as she didn't want to take time.
Lily spotted Dorothy and Stacy the moment she got into the club and they rushed to meet her. "She's looking so fine," Dorothy shouted so Lily could hear her as the music was too loud.
"Hi," Lily greeted the both of them and they later shared a hug. Her eyes roamed around searching for Liam which didn't go unnoticed by Stacy and Dorothy who gave themselves a knowing look before laughing at their friend.
"I told you she'd come." Stacy whispered to Lily who was busy looking around for Liam. Not wanting to press herself more, she decided to ask her friends where Liam was.
"Where is Liam?" She asked, her eyes still looking around.
"Liam hmm. I thought you didn't know what you'd do when you came?" Dorothy teased.
"Seriously? Okay fine, don't tell me." She said to them as she used her eyes to search around again for him.
"Relax girl. Liam is with some people. Two guys and two girls but you have nothing to worry about after all he has his eyes on you alone." Stacy assured her.
As much as she wanted to believe that, she couldn't not after what has been happening for the past two days.
Lily shrugged. She didn't want to go find him since he has been lying about his whereabouts to her. She wondered how he'd react when she saw him and she wasn't ready to be humiliated although Liam didn't seem like the type to humiliate anyone.
"Anyways, let's go drink." She told her friend. She was enjoying herself for the first time in forever.
As the music changed, memories of her days in the club and how she smiled and danced resurfaced and it felt like deja Vu.
Dorothy, Stacy and Lily went to get a drink and after downing more than three shots, Lily was ready to party like before and forget her pains and anger.
She jumped, danced and sang to the lyrics of the music, sometimes she sang the lyrics correctly while sometimes she sang off key but she didn't care.
After a while she felt pressed. She tapped on Dorothy's shoulder to tell her she wanted to use the restroom. Because of the incident Lily has face, Dorothy and Stacy made sure to go to even the safest corners with her for the sake of it.
They followed her to use the restroom and as they walked, Lily mistakenly bumped into someone.
"Ouch!" The both of them groaned.
"I'm so sorry." They said simultaneously before lifting their heads to look at one another.
"I'm sorry." The girl said to Lily.
"I'm sorry too." Lily said to her before they walked away from one another.
"Some humans do have sense. Some would have created a scene out of nothing," Dorothy said.
After using the restroom, Lily, Dorothy and Stacy went back to the dance floor but then her eyes finally landed on the man who made her heart beat.
She halted as she watched his speak to someone with a smile on his face. Every Time she saw him smile, her heart melted and it makes her wonder how she couldn't get over the smile.
Dorothy and Stacy stopped walking after they noticed Lily wasn't following them and they walked back to where she was. They stood at the position she was and followed her eyes direction.
They smiled. It was nothing new to them when it came to Lily and Liam. Lily might act as if she wasn't interested but she was damn interested and the way she looked at Liam all the time gave her away.
"She finally found her prince charming," Stacy sang and Dorothy chuckled.
Lily wanted to go to him but then she saw a girl put her arms around his shoulder and she frowned. Although she knew Liam was the aggressive type and he was gentle, she expected him to take her hands off his shoulder but he didn't and instead seemed to be interested in whatever she was saying.
Lily decided to call his number and hear what he'd say about his location.
