Thirty Seven
"You, what a bitch! Speak up!" Kamilina yelled while raising her hand to slap her, but Killan caught it midway.
"Little one, don't make me angry. Now get out of here before I change my mind about getting you the latest phone." He threatened her, and she quickly dropped her hands on her side and skipped out of there. While at the door, she turned back to her brother and said, "I don't like her brother. She looks suspicious to me. Dump her!" Upon saying that, she was led out of there, closing the door behind her with a loud bang.
"I heard about the file when I was still standing at the door, I swear," She said when Kamilinia was completely out of the office.
"It's alright, and I am sorry about all that she has told you. Just go and take a rest, okay? I and my men will handle this mess." He sighed.
"I wanted to help you look around to see if the file is safe." She suggsted. She wanted to stay. There was no way she was going out of there before knowing where it was. The task was difficult for her man because they both had no idea where Kamilina had hidden it, but if she knows where it's kept, the work will be easier.
"Don't worry, Alina, the file is safe. Luckily, Kamilina had locked it up in a safe place." He responded.
"Really? Where? I mean, where did she hide it?" She asked, pretending to be happy with what Kamilina had done.
"She had locked it in..."
"Brother, over her, quick!" Kamilina cut him off. She was standing outside the office while calling him through the window. Because she was short and could barely reach above the window, only her pinkish fingers were visible. She was waving for her brother to see where she was.
"Let me go and see what's wrong." Killan excused himself while walking out of the office.
"But, babe, you haven't answered my question. I mean, where had Kamilina locked the file?" She insisted.
"Oh, my bad. When it comes to her, I tend to forget things. She had hidden it..."
"Killan!" Kamilina's angry voice rose, causing him to practically run out of there even before he could answer Alina's questions.
"What are stupid spoilt brat?" Why doesn't he slap her really hard across the face until she loses the ability to form words?" Alina was left mumbling to herself in anger. "Nay, I just can't lose hope. I have to find out where they kept the file." She thought while walking out of the office towards where Kamiliana's voice was coming from.
"What little one?" Killan asked while rolling his eyes in annoyance, "And please, don't tell me you called me out here so that I can see your new phone." He warned her.
"Uh, no! It hasn't arrived yet. This is something that will make you gag." She exaggerated just like usual.
"Now tell me; let me gag as well." Killan responded.
"Here? No way, brother, come; I'll take you to my secret place." She said this while dragging him towards the garden. There, Kilan found the head of the military, General Kialn, who was still investigating the sniper and all his guards, and the remaining ninety-four elders sitting around the table arranged for them. Sitting on his chair, which was the one that faced all of them, with Kamilina was done squeezing herself beside him, he asked General Kian to proceed.
"So, Alpha Killan, the sniper, finally revealed his sender after beating him severely." He disclosed that it was Luna Alina who had sent him." The general started.
"Yeah, we all know it was Luna Alina, and your mission was to look for this 'Luna Alina." He said it with a boring expression.
"Yes, alpha. We did find that Luna Alina." The guard said this while distributing some pictures to everyone present in there.
"I knew it!" Kamilina jumped when she saw the person's face, but Kilan still thought otherwise.
"This is my Alina, and I thought we were looking for the fake Alina." He snapped,
"Yes, alpha. Fortunately, there was no fake Alian, but it has been her all along. Still, there is more." The guard cut him off before he could say anything, "Kamilina here sent this file to us. She gave us the moment we walked into the pack house, and she kept on saying that a ghost was looking for it. " They all chuckled at that," the elders here thought we should go through it, and it's shocking." General Kian handed over the file to him. Killan opened it and read it with growing alarm. He kept on wrinkling his face in disgust, and after he was done, his face was red with fury. Kamilina, who was eager to know what was in there, snatched it from him and perused a few pages but got bored. She pushed it aside and ran after her brother, who was walking back to the house furiously.
"Brother, you didn't tell me what was in there." She reminded him. Not wanting to take his anger on her, he took a deep breath and, docking to her level, told her, "Go to General Kilan, my little one. He will tell you everything that is in there." He watched her to skip back to the garden while he walked away.
"General Kian. It's an order from the alpha. Tell me what is in there." She said this while sitting beside him.
"Uh, why don't you read it by yourself, Alpha's little one?" He asked with a smile, closing his face. He has always had a crush on her. Since she was nine. She was now a grown woman, but she was still a child on the inside. Her colored clothes with cartoons and her short stature didn't help at all.
"Read it, me? Nope!" She said this while popping out the p. "Just tell me already, or else I'll ask someone else." She insisted while looking around. Upon seeing that, all the guards and the elders rescued themselves by walking away from there. They all knew her nature and her stubbornness. General Kian was left on his own and had no choice but to start telling her everything written there.
Killan walked past his office to the garage, where he took his car and drove away from the pack at such great speed. If it were not for general Kilan warning him against doing anything to Alina before she confesses on her own, he could have matched back to his office and strangled her to death. What angered him most was that Camila, elder Peter, Beta Steven, and the little goon had been right all this time. Alina had been nothing but the real culprit.
"How come I have never seen this before?" He asked himself while speeding on the road. "She had been using me, damn it!" He cursed. Beta Harris hadn't only kept the file that held all the deeds Alina had ever done, but he had also kept a drive with him that recorded everything they did or said. Camila was right all along; it was Alina who poisoned his dog, which he loved like his own son, and passed it to her because she knew the moment she was done with her business at the washroom, the dog would be dead.
It was Alina who had pushed his mother down the stairs. His mother never liked Camila because she had no wolf and could not give an heir to the pack, and Alina took advantage of that. His mother loved Alina more than she loved her own kids, so by pushing her, no one could suspect her but Camila, because that was who his mother despised. Poor Camila only heard the cry of pain, and when she went to look at what was going on, she got herself into a mess she never created.
It was also Alina who burned his favorite suit, left for him by his late grandmother. It was the only gift from her grandmother that he was left with, and taking advantage of Camila's joke that she would one day throw it away or hide it because he was fond of wearing it despite him having lots of suits, she burned it, and everyone thought it was Camila because she had once said she would throw it away.
As if that was not enough, she also sneaked in traitors to the pack, whom she paid to say that they were brought in by Camila so as to learn about the pack's secrets and reveal them. At the thought of secrets, he cursed out loud, his wolf growling at the back of his head. It was Alian who had used his thumb after he had fallen asleep and released all the pack's secrets, and because it was only him and Camila who would access that laptop, everyone believed it was Camla because there was no way he could have done it. There was already a rift between them, so everyone thought she did that to avenge him.
That was not the only thing that broke him; it was also the fact that he was fathering a kid that was not his and that it was because of Alina that Camila was barren. She made her drink emergency pills every day, and she also made her drink something that weakened her with each passing day. "No wonder she couldn't last even a minute in bed." He thought with hot tears streaming down his face. He couldn't believe what General Kian had said as well. Alina had spent the sniper to him. She wanted him dead after swindling all the pack's savings! Unbelievable.
"She used me! Alina was using me!" He whispered to her wolf, who growled in anger in return. His wolf had gone silent since the day he banished Camila. His wolf had warned him that he was wrong and that he would one day regret his actions. "You were right, Kepha. I was to regret it and just like you said it's too late now. Many people have already died in my hands just because they tried to open my eyes. Elder Pius was true; I was ruled with fear. I don't know why, but whenever Camila told me something again, Alina, my heart trembled, telling me that it was true, but I ignored that feeling, and that was when fear would start creeping in and I would be left with no choice but to punish her. What am I going to do?" He thought this while driving recklessly on the road.
There was no way he could get Beta Steven's or Elder Peter's back. There was no way he could get Camila back. He was doomed by his own actions. His phone rang, jarring him from his thoughts, and he accepted it even before looking to see who the caller was.
"Baby, where are you? Why is everyone acting differently today? Has something happened?" Alina's worried voice asked from the other end. He hung up before even answering her, and he switched off his phone.
"My guard was right. They were right to question her when the sniper was caught. She was indeed the one. She was indeed acting suspicious, but why did I listen to her? Why did I pitch in and ask the guard to stop it? Why did I hurt everyone when she asked me to, even without knowing the reason? Why?" He asked himself, more tears brimming out of his eyes.
"Kepha, please, what should I do?" He asked his wolf, but he growled in response, evidently not interested in talking to him. He had begged him to come out so that he would go for a run and calm himself, but he refused. He left him to feel all the pain by himself because, after all, he brought it all to himself. "I deserve it, Kepha. I really deserve to feel all this pain," he chuckled bitterly while still speeding.
"Do you think Camila survived the rogues? Will I find her even if I were to look for her?" He asked his wolf, hoping he would finally respond to her because he loved Camila more than he did, but Kepha never responded.
"Grandpa." He muttered when an idea crossed his mind. "Yes, I should go to grandpa. He will tell me what to do." He thought while reversing his car.
"You killed him!" His wolf snapped, reminding him of the deed he had done but blamed Camila for it.
"Yes, I killed him." He agreed, blaming himself for giving the police permission to do whatever they wanted to him as long as they brought Camila to him. "The gods were right. Camila was pure all along. What did I do?" He asked no one in particular before punching his car window, which broke into pieces due to how strong his punches were. He was left bleeding profusely, but that was the last thing he wanted to think of. He let the blood drip out, soaking his clothes and forming a pool on his legs.
"Camila, why don't you give me a sign? What would you want me to do in a position like this?" He asked, clutching the heart-shaped chain he was wearing around his neck. That was Camila's last gift to him. Kilan sighed, still driving recklessly. He had no idea where he was driving. He just wanted to get rid of his anger, calm his racing heart, and at least get some peace, but the drive wasn't helping him at all. All he needed at that moment was a run, something his wolf was denying him.
"Please, Kepha, come out and help me get rid of this pain." He whispered, but Kepha was still silent. In the process of begging him, he forgot to look ahead. He only came back to his senses when an overspeeding truck came towards him without any intention of stopping. Getting back to action, his wolf, Kepha, took over, dashed out of the car through the window, and jumped beside the road. Kepha stood watching their car get crushed into pieces. It seemed like that truck driver's intention was to kill him because he hit his car several times until it turned into something unrecognizable. The driver then smirked, jumped off the truck, and took out his phone from his pocket.
"I finished him, Miss Alina." Kepha had the driver say.
"She is still after you. Your darling wife, the rare piece of your heart. You killed for her, yet she is after your life. What a unique love story!" Kepha mocked him while turning to take a run back home.
