Thirty Eight
Alina's phone rang, and she quickly picked it up. "Tell me?" She asked the person on the other end.
"I finished him, Miss Alina." The person responded happily.
"Good, get out of there quickly. I am sending your money to you." She hung up, sent his money, and slumped on the bed. "You dared hang up on me, Killan. You have nothing left to give to me, so what is the purpose of having you?" She laughed evilly. A thought crossed her mind, and she quickly made a call to someone else. It was the fake Alpha Cameroon who had helped her find the truck driver who would find Killan and kill him. Because she hadn't found the file yet, she thought it would be better to kill Kilan so he would never get to read it.
She knew after his death she would be crowned the Alpha of the pack, and that meant she would chase everyone out and turn the pack into her home, full of evil people, because she was going to bring in all her friends and underdogs. "I can't wait to get crowned. Should I tell them about his death? No, Alina, you shouldn't. They will want to know how you knew about it, and once again, you will be their main suspect. Everyone knew what Alpha Killan's car looked like. It was a model that no one had in the entire world, so it wouldn't belong until a reporter saw it lying on the road, crushed like a piece of bread, and told everyone about his demise.
A scream echoed from downstairs, and she quickly wore her flipflops and ran to see what was going on. There was the latest news on the screen, and everyone was talking about how reckless Alpha Kilan was driving, and after a short while, a truck crushed him. The driver fled the place, and it was only his truck that was confiscated. There was blood on the spot, and by that, everyone assumed he must have been crushed along with the car.
"May his soul rest in peace." The reporter finished his reading.
"No, my brother can't die just like that. There must be something wrong, right, General Kian?" Kamilina asked. General Kian, who wasn't sure whether to lie or tell the truth, carried her into his arms and rubbed her back gently to calm her down. The elders and the guards all sighed and sat looking at each other with mournful gazes.
"What happened?" Alina asked after she was done grinning secretly. All the guards turned to look at her, and with the elders leading the way, they all walked out of the living room, leaving her on her own. Poor Alina. She thought that by killing Alpha Killan, everyone would forget about the file and no one would ever know about her real nature, but unfortunately, everyone was aware that they were still silent and hadn't told her anything because they were waiting for Alpha Killan's next step.
"General Kian." She called him, "Why is it that no one is telling me what is going on? And why has everyone been acting differently for the past hour?" She inquired, but he shrugged and walked out of there. "Ugh! Whatever!" She rolled her eyes and went back upstairs to keep watching her favorite shows.
General Kian, with the already sleeping Kamilina on his arms, made his way to the Alpha's office, with the elders walking behind him. They all sat there, looking at each other. They had already called Alpha Killan's parents, and they had promised to be there after a short while. Kamilina groaned as she woke from her sleep, and the first thing she asked for was her brother. The guards looked at each other, and after taking their hint, she yelled, throwing things at the office.
"General Kian, please." One of the elders called for his help when he failed to calm her down. Everyone knew it; apart from Killan, no one could pacify her but General Kian. He walked towards the sofa on which he had laid her and pulled her into his arms, letting her inhale his scent. His scent had always worked magic on her. She calms down even before she knows it. Maybe because he was her mate and she wasn't aware of that yet. In fact, no one was, apart from himself.
"Alpha Kilan could have kicked your ass if he saw you hugging her like that." One of the guards joked, trying to liven up the mood, which likely worked because they all laughed, including Kamilina.
"I won't let him kick his ass. I like him." Kamilina responded, breaking their hug.
"What?" General Kian asked while looking at her with disbelief.
"You don't know? On my god! Why are you so slow? I like you, motherf..."
"language!" General Kian warned her.
"Whoops! What is wrong with you and brother Killan? I am allowed to talk the way I want. I am eighteen." She snapped.
"Seventeen, little one. You'll be eighteen in six months." General Kian reminded her while pulling her nose playfully. Silence reigned in the room while everyone's minds went back to Alpha Killan. Before they could come up with a plan, the door was pushed open, and his father and mother walked in.
"Mother, father!" Kamilina jumped from Kian's arms and jumped onto her father's.
"Get down, little one. You are growing heavy. What was Killan feeding you?" Her father asked while twirling her around. Kamilina giggled and jumped on her mother, who pushed her down at the same moment, causing everyone to laugh in there.
"Has he called yet? Where the hell is he hiding?" Alpha Killan's father asked the guard, who looked at him with confusion.
"But Alpha Kaden, the news say.."
"He's dead. Yes, I know that, but do you all think that my son will die just like that? Not after he avenged." He told them, the serious glow in his eyes telling them all that he wasn't lying but had meant everything he had just said.
"True. Our Killan can't just die like that. Little one," Kilan's mother turned to Kamilina, who was back in General Kian's arms, and said, "I know you will be the first person he calls. Give me your phone." Her mother asked her.
"Yes," she responded, handing over her new phone to one of the guards, who passed it until it reached her mother. "And mother, will you help me tell brother Kilan that I like General Kian?" She then asked, causing everyone to choke on their saliva, including General Kian, who wasn't expecting that from her. When she earlier said he liked her, he thought she was joking.
"What?" Her father chipped in, Do you even know what liking someone is?" He laughed.
"I mean it, father. I like him so much. I wish he'd turn out to be my mate." She prayed. General Kian chuckled, scratching the back of his head in a place that didn't itch at all. He kept on darting his gaze everywhere, but not Alpha Kaden's, who was looking at him.
"I don't think he likes you back, little one." Her father told her
"What? He does?" She snapped, and then turning toward the blushing general Kian, she asked, "Do you like me, general Kian, or is it allowed if I call you Kia?" She smiled sweetly, locking her gaze with him.
"Well, I.."
"I what?" A familiar, deep voice asked from behind them, causing them all to gasp in shock. "You what? Do you like her or not?" The person asked.
"Alpha Killan." General Kian chuckled, but after seeing the serious gaze on Kilan's face, he responded, "Yes, alpha. I do like her."
"What? Why are you so shameless? Since when did you start liking her? I am sure she started liking you when you bought her ice cream behind my back." Killan said this while walking closer to them. She pulled Kamilina from his hands, but General Kian tightened his grip around her.
"I do like her, Alpha. Since she was six." He admitted.
"What?" Everyone gasped in there, and they all turned to look at him. It was only Kamilina who had a happy smile on her face.
See, dad, I told you. He likes me back." She grinned, flicking her tongue towards her dad.
"General Kian, are you saying you started looking at my little one that way since she was six? She was really chubby and ugly. I wonder what you saw." Killan responded while walking toward his seat.
"Brother. It isn't about the outer beauty but the inner beauty." Kamilina told him, and everyone nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, unfortunately, I failed to realize that." He chuckled, thinking of all that Alina had done to him. "But, my little one, you shouldn't celebrate that much because you have no idea who your mate is." He warned her.
"She is my mate." Genral Kian responded, shocking everyone once again.
"And how do you know that?" It was Kamilina's mother who asked him.
"I just know it. I feel the mate bond between us, although it's still weak." He told them
"Well, mate or no mate. No hugging, kissing, or even laughing at each other's jokes until she turns twenty. Now, little one, get down from there, now!" Killan gave out his order. When Kamilina failed to get down from General Kian's laps, he himself walked to them and lifted her from there. Her little body always made it easy for people to carry her around the way they wanted. The elders laughed, stairing at the brother-sister duo fighting against each other, and just like usual, Killan threatened by taking her phone away and sending her to a boarding school. She quietly sat beside him, pouting her lips in disapproval.
"Now let's get to the real conversation," Alpha Killan said, wearing his once serious and expressionless face. "But first, where is Alina?" He asked, his eyes glowing with anger. "Never mind, once again she has sent someone after me." He chuckled, shaking his head in pity.
"What?" Everyone gasped.
"It's what you have all heard. She had once again sent someone to kill me, so I don't know if she has come to the realization that we have finally found out the truth about her." He asked.
"No alpha. She still doesn't know anything. No one has told her so far." General Kian responded.
"Well she has…"
His father stopped him. "What is going on here? I don't understand a thing." He complained, and her wife nodded in agreement. They hadn't been told about the evidence against Alina, nor did they have any idea that the pack had been under attack recently.
"Father," Kamilina jumped on his side, "two weeks ago, my brother's pack was under attack. One guard was killed, although the sniper's intention was to kill my brother. General Kian and his people luckily found him, and he confessed that it was Alina who had sent him. Father, that's not all; she also robbed the underground emergency pack's bank and framed Harris for it. In fact, that was the reason why she sent a sniper to kill my brother."
"Is it true? But how do you know that because you just arrived here?" His father roughed up her hair.
Yes, it's true," she bubbled her head up and down, "General Kian told me everything." She said.
"Well, Alpha Killan asked me to tell her." General Kian pushed the blame on Killan, who glared at him when everyone turned to look at him.
"That's not all, father," Killan took over his sister, "it's her who killed my dog, burned my suit, pushed Mother down the staircase, and released the pack's secrets to our enemies. I mean, she had done all that Camila had been accusing her of. And…" He took a deep breath and said, "She is the reason behind Camila's barrenness and weakness." Everyone gasped at that.
"Are you sure about this, son? You know it's unbelievable?" his mother asked.
Killan handed over the files holding the evidence to them because she expected the same expression from his mother. She had loved Alina as her own, and that was the last thing she expected from her. "She is also the one who robbed my jewelry bank," she gasped while still reading the files. Oh, my poor Camila, I hope you'll forgive me wherever you are." She had punished her for it after Alina made her believe it was Camila who had taken them.
"And what of your baby, brother? Did you find out who made her suffer a miscarriage?" Kamilina asked his brother.
"He wasn't my baby. It was Harris's, and no one attacked her. I questioned the driver, who told me it was her plan so that I would get to banish Camila. It was her goons' who hurt her. I don't care about that anyway. I just don't believe that..." Killan sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. Everyone went silent, giving him some time to calm himself down. They all knew that someone like him doesn't cry in the presence of others, so silence was all he needed at that time. Kamilina hugged her brother while gently rubbing his back.
"Is there anyway we can look for Camila?" He asked after a while, shocking everyone. They all went silent, not wanting to answer his question. "Forget it; she's probably dead by now." He took a deep breath while flipping through his files furiously.
"I think we should all go and take a rest. We will meet in the afternoon to figure out a way to punish her." His father instructed them, and they all bowed. Before they could get out of there, Alina barged through the door. She was coming in to see if she could find any key that would open all the drawers in there and look for the file, but the last thing she expected was to find Killan sitting on his chair, leading a meeting while still looking safe and sound.
"Killan." She called with shock evident on her face. Killan ignored her and kept on perusing through the files. With her drama mood creeping in, she ran towards him with tears in her eyes. "Baby, I saw the news that you are dead. I am really scared. I thought I'd lost you." She hugged him while burying her face in his chest. "Baby, I was coming downstairs to tell you some good news, and then I met that horror on the screen. I just couldn't believe that our growing baby was about to be orphaned," she said while rubbing her tummy.
She then let go of Alpha Killan and turned to face everyone. Running towards Killan's mother and father, she told them, "Mother-in-law, father-in-law. I am pregnant. Finally, the moon gods have answered my prayers and given this pack the heir that was snatched to it by that evil Cami... What is going on here? Aren't you guys happy for us?" She asked when everyone started leaving the office silently without giving her a glance or congratulating her.
