Thirty Nine
"Do you think my brother will get over this, Kia?" Kamilina asked, intertwining her fingers with General Kian's.
"Yes, little one. Your brother is strong enough to handle all this, and don't forget that I don't mean to gossip about him, but he brought all this on himself for trusting her blindly." He said this while squeezing her hands softly. They walked silently until they reached her room.
"Do you want to get in?" She asked him, her eyes glowing with excitement. Before Geeral Kian could respond, Alpha Killan came from nowhere.
"What did I say? Are you trying to get under my sister's pants?" he asked, crossing her hands under his chest.
"I... not at all, Killan. I was about to send her in." Kian responded while massaging the back of his head.
"Whatever, just don't get her pregnant, or else you know what I will do," he warned, and turning to her sister, he said, "open the door. I need to get some sleep."
No, brother, go back to your room." Kamilina refused, but after recalling what had just happened, she smiled and said, "Of course, brother. We will sleep together tonight just like old times, yeah?" She wiggled her left eyebrow at him. Kissing her forehead, General Kian excused himself because he still had something to take care of and went back to his office, where he was holding a meeting with the guards. They had yet to track the Lycan down, and there was no way they would let Alina's evilness slow them down.
"Genera Kian?" Alina gasped the moment he walked into the office. She was caught bending over one of the drawers and trying to open it with the key she was holding.
"What are you looking for, Alina?" Genreal Kian asked crossly.
"It's Luna for you. Luna Alina, and as you know, it's against the pack's rule to question Luna." She smirked at him, waiting for him to address her as Luna, but Kian rolled his eyes and went about his business.
"Un, hello, I am talking to you, general!" She snarled while wrinkling her lips in disgust. Ignoring her, Kian sat on his chair and swiveled on it as he waited for the other guards to arrive. One by one, they started coming in, ignoring Alina, who was still standing at the drawer section with keys in her hands. None of the guards bowed down to her or greeted her like they were supposed to.
"What is going on here? Why is it that I have no idea about this meeting?" She asked, but no one answered her. She was used to the fact that before any meeting would take place, whether she was supposed to attend or not, Alpha Killan would always make her aware of it. Now that he hadn't told her yet, she thought that maybe General Kian and the guards were hatching a plan without Killan's consent. "I asked a question." She snapped, trying to scare the guards with her growl, but they all acted as if she wasn't visible at all. Furiously, she walked out of the office with the thought of going and feeding lies to Killan and telling him that they had disrespected her.
"Of all people, you should all know that Killan doesn't like it when someone disrespects me, and for your information, I am going to tell him all that is happening in here." She threatened, but none of them still cared. Before she could open the door and walk out, Alpha Killan walked in with Kamilina on his side, who, after seeing General Kian, released her hands from her brother's and ran to him with a cup of coffee in her hands.
Kia, my brother drinks coffee while sitting in meetings; here, I bought it for you." She smiled, handing over the mug to him. Kian smiled sweetly at her as he thanked her. Alpha Killan cleared his throat, and Kian quickly let go of Kamilina's waist. Due to her short height, she tiptoed, pecked him on the cheeks, and skipped out of the room, but her brother was not yet ready to let that slip.
"I said no kissing, little one." He reminded her.
"No, brother, at my room, you asked him not to get me pregnant, and that meant that you have no problem with us having sex, right?" She asked loud enough for everyone present in there to hear. The elderly guards cleared their throats, and before Killan could snap at her for being shameless, Kamilina had already run out of the office, leaving her giggles behind. General Kian was the only one left flushing with embarrassment. Alina, who was watching everything closely, thought that General Kian was rude to her because he was now Alpha Killan's brother-in-law. Faking tears, she gripped his hands and complained.
"Baby, can you believe General Kian has no respect for me? He questioned me when he found me here cleaning the office, and he went ahead and snubbed all my questions. Please remind them that I am their Luna and they should respect me." She pouted while giving the guards and general Kian evil side eyes. Alpha Kilan's phone rang, and he took that opportunity to push her off him and walk out of the office while talking to whoever was at the other end. Alina was left all alone under the guards mocking gazes and laughter.
Furiously, she walked out of the office looking for Killan. She thought that the reason he didn't respond to her was because of the call. Luckily, she found him standing under the trees, talking to his parents. Running to him, she still complained, "Babe, the guards don't respect me at all."
"Well, if they don't, it's obvious they don't value you." Killan's mother sneered.
Yes, mother-in-law, and that's why I am trying to tell Killan that we should teach them a lesson. That way, they will learn to respect me." She replied, and looking at Killan, she smiled. "After all, my mate here doesn't let anyone speak ill of me. He makes sure that my reputation stays intact."
"Camila's mate." Alpha Killan reminded her. "You are not my mate, only my wife." Upon saying that, he turned to his parents and asked them to follow him. Alina also followed behind, but upon reaching the office, Killan asked her to go back to her room since she wasn't needed at the meeting.
"But I am Luna, babe." She reminded him.
"I know that, but like I said, you are not needed." He insisted.
"But.."
"Are you going against your alpha?" Killan growled while cutting her off. When she shakes her head in disagreement, he says between gritted teeth, "Now get out of here. Didn't you say you were pregnant?" With that, he closed the door on her face without letting her say anything. Alina, who wasn't aware of what was going on, left there with a million questions running through her mind and walked back to the room she shared with him.
"I am not giving him much attention." She thought while sitting on the bed. All her life, that is, since they got married, she had always been after Camila to make sure she took her out of the picture, and after her there were Elder Peter and Beta Steven, and after them there was Harris, and what she had always done was run after them, and she concluded it was in that moment when she completely forgot about Killan. She had tried to kill him two times now, and because she had failed in both, she decided to bring him closer to her, where she would easily poison him. The only thing she didn't want was for him to read that file in his drawer. Luckily, she had taken the keys with her. After General Kian caught her, she didn't return the keys where they were supposed to be, but she secretly sneaked out with them.
"If they are sitting in there to go through the file, then they have failed because I have the keys with me." She smirked while playing with the keys in her hands. She had managed to peep into the drawer, and she had seen the black file in there. What she had no idea was that the file was empty and everything in it was already in Killan's hands, along with the elders and the guards. They could have punished her long ago, but it was because she was pregnant, and that was why they were hesitating. It was against their rules to jail a pregnant woman, given how hard and severe their punishments were. They waited until the culprit gave birth, handed over their born kids to the orphanage, and then punished their mothers.
"What is keeping them for so long?" She thought while pacing back and forth in her room. "If they are in there to read the file, they could have been out by now because I have the keys with me. How will I find out what they are doing?" She thought while biting her nails. After biting her nails for a while, she quickly put on her outdoor shoes and rushed out of the room. She ran towards Kamilina's room, where she hoped to find out from her what was going on in there. Knocking at the door, she waited impatiently as Kamilina took forever to open it.
"What do you want?" Kamilina asked the moment she saw who was there.
"Can I come in?" Alina asked with a sweet smile on her face.
"No, I am rearranging my room; just say what you want." She refused, eyeing her from top to bottom. She looked like someone who had come there while running, from the sweat soaked on her blouse to the way she was panting.
"I can help you arrange it. I have nothing to do." She offered her help, but Kamilina refused.
"No, brother Killan will help me. Can I go now?" She then asked, and when she was about to close the door, Alina asked.
"Have they found the keys?"
After looking at her for a while with confusion written all over her face, Kamilina asked, "Which keys?"
Alina, who had completely forgotten herself, chuckled, and after taking a deep breath, she said, "The keys to the drawer where they have locked in the black file. Have they found it because they are not out yet?"
Kamilina stood for a while, trying to figure out what Alina was talking about. Her brother and Kian hadn't mentioned the lost key to her, so which key was she talking about? And about the black file, was it not out of the drawer already? What was left in there was just the cover and nothing else. Shaking her head in confusion, she responded, "I don't know what you are talking about. My brother hasn't told me anything about the lost key."
"Mmh!" Alina hummed while smirking secretly, and after a while she turned to face Kamilina and said, "If they haven't realized about the missing key, then they are not meeting because of the file. What could be the reason they are in there?" She asked.
"I don't know. Kia hasn't told me yet. And per the missing key, how do you know it's missing if the alpha himself has no idea of this?" Kamilina asked while watching her closely.
"Well, I figured it out. I mean, General Kian was asking me for the key when he walked into the office earlier on." She lied while thanking her stars for helping her come out with a lie that quickly. Kamilina was really observant; she could have caught her if she kept on stammering.
"Mh, I don't know about that, so now if you have nothing to say, I'll close my door." Kamilina closed the door with a loud bang, giving her no chance to speak or respond. Alian spun only to meet Killan and Kian looking at her with confusion on their faces. A file, which was kept in the same drawer with the file taken from Harris's room containing the forest's map, was needed. They looked everywhere for the key, and when they missed it, they assumed Kamilina must have taken it with her. They were out there, going to pick up the keys, when they saw Alina from a distance running towards Kamilina's room. They followed her silently to see what she was up to, and that was when they overheard their conversation.
"Is the meeting over?" She asked while faking a smile. "I was here to make her feel comfortable. I mean, she has no one of her age, so she is bound to get bored easily." She lied while chewing on her bottom lip.
"How do you know about the lost key, Alina?" General Kian asked her. "I mean, none of us realized it was lost until we were looking for the map, but here you are; you weren't even present in there, but you know about the lost key." He smirked, crossing his hands on his chest. "And please, I am so sure that I didn't tell you like you just lied to my Kamilina because, as I said, I also wasn't aware of the fact that it's missing."
"Well.." Alina started and then snapped, "Why are you questioning your Luna? It's not allowed. Baby, do you see? I told you, Kian, and the guards don't respect me anymore. Why would he question me?" She ran towards Killan, who looked at her with an expressionless face. After waiting for his response for a while and getting none, Alina decided to use the same excuse Killan used on her behalf when General once questioned her about knowing the sniper's arranged private jet, which he had concealed from the alpha.
"I am your Luna, and I am blessed with a sharp hearing ability. You mentioned it earlier at the office without knowing, but I had already heard it. Killan once told you that. I really don't believe that I have to repeat." She smirked, crossing her hands under her boobs.
"I was wrong." Killan's boring and cold voice echoed.
Alina, who thought she was hearing her own words, gasped, "What? Are you talking to me, babe?" She smiled sweetly at him. Killan rolled his eyes while stopping himself from gaging. He just couldn't believe that that smile had once made him do anything Alina wanted like a fool. How could he possibly fall for that smile? And how was it that he never noticed how ugly it was? This time when she smiled at him, he didn't feel like pulling her into his arms, inhaling her scent, and kissing those lips of hers; he felt like gripping her by her neck, wiping that ugly smile off with a slap, and strangling her to death. Looking at her, he felt his anger increasing instead of decreasing.
"Disgusting!" He found himself spitting, and then he walked away. He just couldn't stay with her any longer. Even for a second!
