Chapter 15
Sewa hummed melodious music in her head as she washed the dishes in the sink.
She felt a huge weight lifted off of her shoulder now that she was on good terms with Lanre. Never had she ever thought she'd get burdened by the fact he wasn't speaking to her.
Things took a turn so quickly as he was the angry one and not her. She was busy washing the dishes when she felt an arm snaking around her waist, pulling her back to rest on a hard solid body.
She heaved a sigh, knowing well it was Lanre. He buried his neck in the crook on her neck sending shivers down her spine. She felt warmth and safe in his arms.
She giggled lightly when he bit her neck lightly. "Stop it!" She whined, trying to escape from his hold.
"You smell nice," he said to her. "You have always smelled nice," he gave her a mouth opening kiss on her shoulder.
"I'm busy now, let me finish all of this first," Sewa whispered.
"You can come back for it, you know," he retorted in a whisper, pulling her impossibly closer to him.
Sewa giggled, her giggle was like music to his ears. "I'm almost done, in- fact I am done," she said, rinsing her hands.
"Let me get my fingernails paint and you will help me paint my fingernails," She said to Lanre, removing his hands from her waist.
Lanre frowned, "I never signed up for that," he said to her but Sewa was already out of the kitchen in a haste to get her nail paint.
Sewa folded her legs in an Asian style, as she sat down on the three seater couch beside Lanre.
She took the remote from his hands and placed it on the floor. "My fingernails first," She said to him, placing the green, gray and red fingernails paint on his hands.
"Are you really serious about this?" He asked her with a confused expression on his face.
Sewa chuckled lightly, "Look at your baby face," she cooed pulling his cheek whilst she laughed.
"Don't be such a boring boyfriend, be like Prince Nelson Enwerem!" She lamented.
"Prince what? Who is that?" Lanre asked her. He wasn't sure of who she was talking about and why would she tell him to be like someone else.
"Do you have someone courting you? If so tell me his name and I'm gonna tell him off," Lanre spat out.
The thought of another guy trying to woo her annoyed him. And the fact she was starting to compare him with that guy pained him more. Sewa chuckled.
"My baby is Jealous," she chuckled.
"Aww...you look so cute when you are jealous, don't worry, I will make you more jealous from now on to get this rare face of yours," Sewa muttered.
Lanre said nothing as he looked at her with a bland expression on his face. Sewa chuckled, "Come on, there is no one and besides even if there is, I don't like them, I only like you," she said to him pulling his cheek and then traced her fingers on his lips.
Lanre heaved a sigh, "Then who is Prince whatever?" He asked.
"Don't tell me you don't know him?" Sewa asked rhetorically. Maybe he didn't know him. After all, he was a busy person unlike her.
She moved closer to Lanre so she would be sitting on him with her both legs on both of his sides. She wrapped her arms around his neck. "Firstly, you know this reality TV show; BBN?" Sewa asked him.
"What is BBN?" He asked her, clearly confused.
Sewa chuckled, "How can I be dating someone who doesn't know anything other than the health world!" She exclaimed playfully.
"Anyways, BBN is a short form of saying Big brother Naija, the biggest reality show in Africa. Prince Nelson Enwerem is one of the contestants for this season and he is somehow one of the types of men ladies want," She lamented to Lanre.
"Hmm...why is it so?" He asked her.
"Because he can cook, make hair, sew, he is smart, in fact they refer to him as an all rounder!" Sewa exclaimed.
"And so? Because he can do that doesn't make him the ideal man," Lanre muttered sarcastically.
"Besides I can cook too, I am a better cook than you, you know that right?" Lanre bragged about, making Sewa snicker.
"Really? You can't cook better than me! Don't go there or else I'm so gonna--" she trailed off looking for the perfect word to use against him.
"Okay fine, can you make hair?" She asked him.
"Seriously? I didn't learn that, if you want, I might learn that and begin to do your hair from now on," Lanre said with seriousness.
Sewa laughed hysterically, "You won't even get the opportunity to touch my hair, never!" She spat out.
"You better don't focus your energy on something like that, just do what you do," She said to him.
"Okay," Lanre said.
Sewa chuckled, "Come on! How can you be my boyfriend and you can't paint my fingernails? You should be useful, you know?" She whined.
"You want me to paint your nails? Okay, I will," He said.
"Yes!" Sewa squealed triumphantly. "Now that's the man I am dating," she bit her lips in a seductive way.
Lanre heaved a sigh, "You will definitely kill me, won't you?" He asked her.
"If i kill you, who will date me and endure my shenanigans?" She asked him.
"She knows she's got a whole lot of issues," Lanre muttered.
"I heard that. But it's fine, just keep enduring it," she whispered, getting off of him, so that he could paint her nails.
Sewa admired Lanre's eyelashes while he painted her fingernails, his long lashes was something she wished she had instead.
The way he took his time to paint her fingernails melted her inside, sending warmth all over her body. She loved his dedication to painting her nails and wanting to please her.
She loved how he made her laugh without trying, how he made her forget her family issues and her lifestyle, taking her to an entirely different world entirely.
There would definitely be no harm if she gave into him completely, would they? If she had him to herself and he had her to himself, she'd definitely not have a regret?
The big decision needed to be made now and she knew one thing, giving up her life to stay by Lanre's side was something she'd was never going to regret; but losing him for her nonchalant lifestyle was going to be a big mistake in her life.
What if she gave it up and she didn't end up with him? She asked herself.
Was she ready to take a big risk? If so, was Lanre sincerely and willing to marry her? What of his brother who she had slept with, would he accept her? Would his family want her? Was there a way for her to redeem herself without her past invading and destroying everything?
Was she ready to face the consequences and still have Lanre by her side? Was Lanre going to accept her against all odds? Was Lanre going to love her even if he found out about her past?
She has two big question in her mind and they were; Would Lanre love her regardless of her past and her flaws and not let what she has done in the past come in between them?, And would Lanre end up with her once she took the big step and stay away from the life which brought her to the position she was at?
