A hell of a journey
“This way Ma’am”
Hunter chirped while leading Evelyn’s way. The girl followed him obediently with sealed lips.
As soon as she entered, she was met with a magnificent and luxurious interior that left her awestruck. She couldn’t help but extol it.
Evelyn saw how Dylan’s men were treating her with so much respect and even seemed delighted by her presence. They were so excited after meeting her. Evelyn felt uncomfortable as they even took her handbag and cell phone. It was funny to see those grown men carrying her purse. They were so eager to do every little thing for her that left her surprised as she had never seen them her whole life.
‘Why are they so happy after meeting their Boss’s wife?’
Evelyn mentally thought.
Hold on.
Did she address herself as his wife?
Evelyn screamed out loud in her mind.
Dylan’s threats had poured burning rage all over her body. She was feeling helpless and was seething but their hearty welcome and kind behavior melted her anger. Evelyn wasn’t fully convinced because it could be another drama of Dylan who was leaving no stone unturned to woo her back but it wouldn’t be right if she punishes his people for his crimes.
Evelyn was busy admiring the fancy jet when a deep voice rang in her ears that almost made her scream.
“Is this up to your taste, sweetheart?”
Evelyn flinched and placed her palm on her heart but still, her balance faltered and she tripped on her heels. Dylan immediately leaped forward and grabbed her waist.
She closed her eyes tightly and fisted his coat while holding onto her breath.
Evelyn anticipated the fall but nothing happened.
‘Huh?’
Confusion rose in her as she shot her eyes open only to confront a pair of exquisite obsidian eyes staring at her lovingly.
“Are you all, right?” Dylan asked her out of concern.
Red hues crept on her cheeks in embarrassment but what left her more miserable was when she realized that she was still in his arms.
Evelyn immediately pushed his shoulders and straightened her spine.
“I am fine.” She spoke hurriedly and tried to move back but Dylan didn’t free her. His hands were still resting on her waist.
Evelyn tried prying his hands away but when he didn’t remove them, she gave him a sharp glare.
“I don’t bite my love.”
He snickered. Evelyn kept silent but her nostrils flared when she saw his men also smiling at his joke.
She craned her neck up and smirked at him, “You don’t bite, you beat.”
His vitriolic words wiped the smile off his face. Dylan stopped laughing and so does his men who immediately turned rigid. They could feel the thick tension in the air and silently begged Evelyn not to soil the situation any further. Because Dylan would do nothing to her but they have to bear the brunt of his rage.
Evelyn expected a sharp response but her jaw dropped watching his rueful eyes.
She felt her head would explode.
‘WHY?? JUST WHY HE DOESN’T REACT ANYMORE AND TAKE ALL THE INSULTS??’
His submissive side was turning her mad. Evelyn was having a hard time digesting the stark differences in his personalities because the old Dylan would have thrown her off the plane by now but this new version of him brook all her insults with no objection. It was as if the tables have turned and they both have swapped their souls.
On the other hand, Dylan was deeply hurt. He wasn’t a tinge bit concerned that she humiliated him in front of his people because he had expected it. Evelyn had only one weapon, she knew she can’t defeat so she would exhume the past to hit him below the belt.
It always worked because Dylan had no justification for the heinous things he had done to her.
Lowering his gaze, he dipped his hands in the pockets of his pants and sighed.
“Take your seat. We need to leave.”
Evelyn scoffed at his guilty face and walked past him.
“I thought you were planning on wasting my time.” She sneered before settling on her seat.
Dylan chuckled and sat opposite her.
“I am aware how much you value time. How can I waste it?” He spoke sweetly and buckled himself.
His saccharine voice was only agitating her. Evelyn looked away in annoyance and shifted her eyes at Hunter who was stuck in between the couple’s fights.
“Give my bag.”
“First buckle up. The jet is about to take off.”
Dylan chided her. Evelyn clenched her jaw and tightened the belts around her waist. Meanwhile, Hunter handed her bag to Dylan and went to the other compartment leaving the couple alone.
“Happy? Now will you give me my bag?”
Dylan chuckled. He was enjoying arguing with her.
He then handed her the bag which she snatched roughly from his hands. Passing him a death glare, Evelyn unzipped it and fished out her laptop.
“Don’t sit in on my head. Take another seat.” She grumbled.
Dylan smirked and leaned back on his seat comfortably.
“Why? Will you get distracted by my charms?” he mocked her.
“Pfft”, Evelyn huffed, “Your charms don’t affect me anymore.”
And once again, she ended up ruining his mood.
Dylan’s gaze darkened but unbeknownst to his heated glares, Evelyn turned on her laptop and engaged herself in work.
His patience started thinning out. Dylan rested his head on the headrest while his eyes were fixated on his wife who was busy with her laptop.
Her hatred knew no bounds and he had to work harder to eradicate them from her body. But her harsh words had started to affect him. He clenched his fists because he didn’t want to wake up his beast who had very little tolerance for such insults.
“Your charms don’t affect me anymore.”
A sinister smile crept on his lips.
‘I would love to prove you wrong, love. Just wait and see how I’ll flip the situation and erase the gap between us by the end of this memorable journey.’
