“God, I am tired.”
Evelyn groaned out loud as she removed her glasses. Resting her back on the seat, she grabbed her nape and massaged it gently.
Evelyn had been working ever since the jet took off only because she didn’t want to interact with the man who was continuously striving for her attention.
“Lie down, Eve.”
Dylan said it for the nth time and Evelyn discounted it for the nth time.
Anger grew on him watching her ignorance. She was behaving as if he wasn’t even present and her stubbornness was at another level.
Evelyn didn’t eat anything nor even accepted water from the staff. Dylan knew she was showing him her anger by refusing any sort of help but by doing so, she was only hurting herself.
“Ahh! Now it’s fine.” Evelyn spoke when the stubborn knots in her muscles loosened and she slightly felt relaxed. She then again wore her spectacles and resumed her work.
Dylan had enough now. He tugged his tie harshly and removed it.
Standing up, he discarded his coat and stormed towards her.
“WHAT THE-”
Evelyn was startled when Dylan snatched her spectacles and tossed them on the floor. She leaped to pick them up when he harshly closed the lid of her laptop.
Evelyn shot him a death glare.
“Remove your fucking hands.”
Dylan glowered at her. He ducked forward and inched closer to her lips making her move back.
“What about no.” He smirked.
Evelyn turned uncomfortable by their proximity and taking advantage of it, Dylan picked up her laptop and threw it on his seat.
“WHAT? HOW DARE YOU!!”
Anger kicked in her at his audacity. She quickly tried getting up but Dylan pushed her back and buckled her up.
Evelyn was flabbergasted. She tried opening the belts but Dylan grabbed her hands with his right hand and pushed her seat back. He then placed his right knee on the seat beside her and leaned forward hovering over her.
A tremor of fear ran down her spine.
“W-What are you doing?”
“Making you understand in my way.”
Dylan smirked at her scared face and booped her nose before pressing a button on the overhead console.
“Kale salad, lasagna, a cheeseburger, and two strawberry yogurt bars. Bring it fast.”
Evelyn looked at him bewildered, “I can’t eat this much.”
“Oh, but you will sweetheart,” Dylan grinned and placed his palm above her head, and leaned further trying to reduce the distance between their faces. Evelyn pressed her back more on the seat. She wished to get inside it.
“You haven’t eaten anything since morning. So, you require a hefty meal to fill your empty stomach.” Dylan spoke and patted her tummy making her squirm.
Evelyn breathed heavily. He was so close to her that she could inhale his rich cologne.
Dylan on the other hand was eyeing her shamelessly. His gaze raked all over her face while stayed a little longer at her lips.
Evelyn felt cautious and lowered her gaze. Biting her lower lip, she shifted on the seat when suddenly something caught her eyes.
‘Tattoo?’
‘He didn’t have them earlier.’
Evelyn was shocked to see his neck and chest filled with tattoos. The inking started from the right side of his neck and disappeared into his chest. Evelyn was intrigued but she couldn’t see them whole which irritated her.
Dylan noticed her scowling. A smile spread on his face as he found her adorable gawking at his tattoos like a curious child.
Evelyn was engrossed in deciphering them when a peculiar pattern grabbed her attention.
“What’s this?”
Dylan gulped when she leaned closer and poke her index finger on his chest. Her touch created a fire inside him.
Dylan wasted no time to fulfill her wishes. He crouched down to her face level making sure she doesn’t notice it.
Evelyn was confused but she jolted when Dylan opened roughly yanked his shirt and opened the top three buttons in one go.
“Oh, my God!”
Her face turned red as a tomato. She didn’t expect that.
Evelyn immediately looked away but a zap of current coursed through her veins when Dylan took her right palm and placed it on his chest.
“W-what are you doing?”
The tip of her ears turned red. She tried pulling her hand but Dylan pressed it firmly. She could feel his toned and rugged muscles. He was built as a rock.
An uneasy feeling erupted in the pit of her stomach. She could feel his heartbeat which abruptly increased. Evelyn bet she could hear the lub-dub of his heart if she moved a bit closer to him.
“Showing what you mean to me.”
Dylan rasped near her lips, his breathing also labored. Evelyn trembled as his hot breath penetrated her skin giving rise to a storm of mixed emotions inside her chest.
She gulped her saliva and focused her eyes on his chest. Her breathing turned shallow but still, she kept a grip on herself and continued gazing at his tattoos.
Dylan then very slowly removed her palm and tugged his shirt down further to bare his skin.
Her brows furrowed but her eyes widened as soon as her vision cleared.
A shocking gasp slipped through her lips watching his skin bearing her name.
“Eve”
That endearment was inked on the left side of his chest just above his heart with small hearts drawn beside it. It looked ethereal, beautiful, and cute but unfortunately, Evelyn showed an opposite reaction.
She was disgusted.
Her vision turned blurry as heavy tears pooled in her eyes. She looked at Dylan while controlling her sobs.
“What’s the meaning of this?”
Evelyn tried her best still a tear escaped her eye. She was hating how he was playing with her mind.
Dylan watched her silently; he had expected that. After everything he had done, of course, Evelyn wouldn’t celebrate but spite him for getting a tattoo of her name.
A sigh escaped his lips. Dylan cupped her face in his large hands and made her look into his eyes which were teeming with pain, guilt, and sadness.
“I have no justification for my previous actions Eve. All I can do is repent and redeem. I know you would never forgive me but don’t I deserve clemency? I don’t intend to change your mind overnight but please don’t push me away.” he implored helplessly.
Evelyn scoffed at him and slapped away his hands, “Why should I? You tell me why should I give you one chance? Didn’t I give you enough in the past?”
She snapped at him.
“STOP BRINGING THE PAST, AGAIN AND AGAIN, DAMN IT!!!”
Dylan finally exploded and slammed his palms on the seat beside her with a loud thud. Evelyn jumped in shock; she closed her eyes out of reflex but her anger hadn’t simmer down yet.
“W-Why? Because it’s the truth.” She spoke while shivering furiously. Evelyn knew she was only signing her death certificate by riling up the demon but for how long she can hold it? He wanted to bring her along then he should be ready to confront her. She had subdued her pain enough, now it was the best time to unleash them and get her answers from the one who inflicted that misery on her.
Dylan on the other hand, started shaking in fury. His jaw clenched while he dig his nails in the soft seats ruining them.
His posture screamed danger but deep inside he was frustrated.
Why was she turning a blind eye to his efforts? Yes, he was a sinner but wasn’t he also working hard to change himself? He even proved it by his actions then why Evelyn was rooted in her decisions.
Dylan heaved a low growl that made Evelyn quiver. She expected him to yell, and lash out at her but nothing sort of that happened.
Dylan closed his eyes while biting the bullet and stood up. Evelyn was confounded watching him back away.
Without saying another word, Dylan picked up her laptop and kept it beside her.
“Sir,”
The air hostess spoke softly while holding onto her dear life. Dylan turned to her only to see her blushing furiously.
It wasn’t her fault because her timing was very wrong. The girl witnessed Dylan towering over Evelyn and both of them were extremely close to each other. And that drew a completely different picture in her mind.
“Give it to her,” Dylan spoke in an imperative tone making the girl bob her head repetitively. He then picked up his cell phone and stormed to the other compartment leaving both females shocked.
Evelyn’s eyes were glued on Dylan the whole time. To say she was shocked would be an understatement. She was confirmed now.
This was really not Dylan.
The air hostess then strutted to her and flashed her a benign smile and kept her food on the tray tables.
“Enjoy your meal, Ma’am.”
Evelyn acknowledged her with a smile but frowned when she noticed her looking away while smiling to herself.
‘Why in the world is she blushing so much?’
“Uhmm, is something wrong?”
The hostess stiffened at her question but soon picked up a tissue and handed it to her.
“Your lips are bleeding Ma’am.” She said and quickly scurried away while chuckling silently.
Evelyn continued staring at her disappearing figure but eventually, her eyes widened when realization dawned on her.
“Urgg!!! I was biting my lips you idiot,” she yelled in frustration and pulled her hair.
