Goodluck called
Two hours later, Amanda woke up looking better, Joy rushed to her to help her get to the dinner, she hadn't said much since her arrival, she was probably contemplating if she was to be on Amanda's side or not, but she knew she had no choice about that, she need not know if Amanda was at fault or not, all she was there to do was to give her support and that was what she was going to do.
"Come and eat something, I made you fried rice, hope you don't mind I used your kitchen"
She was been all modest, and both Maxwell and Amanda liked it though it was obvious she was itching to hear the story behind her mystery pregnancy.
"Oh dear, I don't mind at all, soon it would be another woman's kitchen so do not worry"
Joy and Maxwell exchanged glances, and moved to the dinning table, and took their seats looking at her curiously.
"What do you mean by that Amanda, did Dave say something to you at the hospital?
Amanda looked at her friend, and smiles bitterly with tears in her eyes, she was indeed tired of crying and really didn't want to talk, but she couldn't keep them in suspense anymore, they had been with her and had helped her find some strength, the least she could do was fill them in. They needed to know.
" I didn't cheat on my husband,
That was not the answer to their question, but she seemed to want to start by telling them the story, and they were eager to hear.
Joy had her eyes fixated on Amanda . " Then how did you get pregnant, if you said he didn't touch you, and you didn't cheat?
"That is the mystery, I am pregnant, but I cannot tell how it happened. My husband was even my first, I knew no man intimately except him even till now, but here I am pregnant, and I cannot tell who is responsible".
Maxwell was surprised, all this while he was sure Goodluck had slept with his sister, how could his sister say Dave was her first, he knew Goodluck very well, he would never allow what is under the skirt go free when he could have it to himself, and that was his anger in the first place, if he was angry with woman because his mother left him, he shouldn't transfer such to his sister. He looked at Amanda and dropped his gaze immediately, he didn't want her to feel he doubted her, even though he did, but Amanda already saw the question they were boldly written on his face.
Brother Maxwell, I never slept with Goodluck, he wasn't interested in sleeping with me, he said we would have more than enough time, he said he wanted to make money so that he could ask for my hand in marriage, then consummation would happen only as his wife"
She nailed him with that explanation, he had doubted his friend all this time, he was angry for nothing, he had fought and almost killed his friend for nothing. No wonder Goodluck started to change before he found out he was secretly dating his sister, he was busy breaking up with one girl or the other and they were all Calling him to complain as he was the only family they could relate with him.
He had asked Goodluck while he was breaking up with almost all his girlfriends, and he had only smiled not giving him any answer in particular, he was trying to be better. Maxwell regretted his actions, he wished he had given him the chance to redeem himself by talking.
He remembered how he found out about their little secret. He was on his way to his father's office when he ran into one of Goodluck's ex girlfriend who wouldn't let go, she greeted him warmly, but one could see she was not happy, Maxwell thought it had to do with her break up with Goodluck but her statement shocked him.
"Maxwell, you are wicked!
That was not what Maxwell was expecting to hear from Linda, but he calmed himself down and didn't respond right away.
" I came to you for help, with your friend, you pretended as though you would help me, but little did I know that you were the cause of the problem in the first place"
Now Maxwell was not enjoying the talk anymore, he was getting impatient and angry at the same time, he was going to kill Goodluck if he had lied to this girl, that he was the one that told him to break up with her, but that was surely not the case as her next statement made his blood boil.
"You sent your sister to seduce my Goody, now he is head over heels in love with her"
Now Maxwell had heard enough, he looked like he had been struck by lightning as he opened wide his eye and mouth, but couldn't get any word out and it was difficult to shut his eye or even dim them, but he managed to utter.

Now Linda didn't know Maxwell wasn't aware of the little affair but she was sure happy to break the news to him, and watch the drama from afar since he was acting all ignorant.
"Are you trying to pretend that you do not know that your best friend is f**cking your little sister?
That was the worse, now he was enraged, he couldn't continue his journey to his father's office again he retraced his steps and ran home his sister wasn't home. She had left saying she wanted to join her friends to read as their waec was approaching, though registration wasn't done yet, but they knew it was the term they were in that it would take place, and she had been studying for the mock, which would come first, he grabbed a stick and rushed off to his friends house who had been too busy for him these days, realising who he had been busy with, only increased his boiling blood to start to spill.
He got to the house and Indeed found his friend caressing his sister, but the sight was enough to let him know they were into each other.
Amanda had her head rested on his chest while he stroke her hair, explaining something in a book he was holding to her, without any word he rushed at him, and the fight started as they dragged each other out while Amanda watched in tears.
"I can't find my phone"
Amanda's voice brought him back to the presence, and that was when he realized he hadn't even touched the food Joy had served, and he still had her phone in his pocket. He reached out to get the phone which he held out to her.
