This is a mystery

Amanda wasn't expecting her brother to be so calm.

He was really acting strange.

firstly he had been very supportive at the hospital, he had defended her against her mother inlaw, he had brought her home, took care of her, and had pampered her till she fell at sleep and now he was calmly telling her Goodluck called?

She stared at him, not sure of what to think of him, he must have taken something.

The same Goodluck he almost killed without blinking or thinking, because he found out he was dating his sister?

Amanda was surprised, but somehow,  she was enjoying the change in her brother.

She took another look at him, before she collected the phone from him.

When She took the phone, she looked away, she didn't bother to look at her brother, she wanted to call him back, but she couldn't do that with her brother looking at her with so much care.

" Well, won't you call him back? he sounded really worried over the phone"

Now something was surely wrong with her brother, he must be high on something or must have hit his head somewhere, and lost his memory. Did he forget who Goodluck was and was transpired between them, this was indeed a new version of Maxwell. Something was surely wrong. Joy's voice brought them back from their thought.

"This is a mystery"

Mystery pregnancy!

Are you sure you were not raped?

" That was what I thought to, but wouldn't I know, I would know if someone had forced himself on me, I should know and feel it, I have never woken up in a strange place before, and no one could actually come from the outside to rape me in my house unless it's my husband.

"So what if your husband did rape you, and doesn't know how to say he is sorry, you know, men can be something else, he must have been angry that you denied him sex all this while, and must have planned to take what belongs to him by force, he must have drugged you, think about it. Why is he still keeping you in his house as his wife if he doesn't feel responsible, maybe the mystery isn't so mysterious as we all think, we just need to put two and two together to give us four"

" You make lots of sense. Joy, that could be the logical explanation, he has done it, but doesn't know how to apologize to you, these things happen. Maxwell added"

" I thought the same too, I even confronted him, but he only laughed thinking I must be crazy to ask him such, I asked him again and again, and knowing how serious I was with my question he had told me that though he had thought of it, he could never had carried it out, he respected me too much to do such a thing and I believe him.

He didn't drug and rape me.

"Since you are so sure, what about this Goodluck guy, when you met him, did you visit his house, did he give you a drink, do you remember waking up at his place or blacking out?

Joy could totally pass as an investigator, she was asking all the right questions which could help them unravel the mystery just that they were questions she herself had asked earlier, and had answered them herself.

Maxwell in the other hand wanted to hear how his sister was going to respond, he wanted to know if she was still inlove with Goodluck, and if it was possible that they had engaged in any form of adultrous act. Not like it would change whatever he felt, but it would help solve the puzzle he hated not having answers to questions.

"He could never rape me Joy, if he didn't do it before, he couldn't do it now. He is just a perfect gentle man"

The way she spoke about him could open a blind man's inner eye to see how highly she regarded him, and Maxwell was sure his sister never stopped loving his friend.

" That means we need to know what went wrong, I need all the records of where you have been for the past three month, where you went, who you met and what you did, that should help us know what to do, and I would need you to call Goodluck back I don't want him to have high blood pressure" Maxwell spoke up looking down at the food, not meeting her eye.

It sounded more like a command now, so she needed to call him.

He used to work like this with Goodluck, he understood what they would need to do, to unravel the mystery, but he is not sure, his friend would forgive him.

Then he faced Joy

" I would need your help.

Joy looked shocked at him, what was she going to do for them, the case was beyound her , and she didn't want to involve herself in anything that would take her life, because, the fight was already looking bloody, from the drama that took place at the hospital.

Amanda stared at her brother, she could not thank him enough, whoever had changed her brother this much, needed her blessing, she wants to thank that person so much, if not for her brother coming to her and at the right time, she was sure, she could jump into the beach and just die.

She was already thinking of killing herself, there was no way she could live with such a shame, that a grown up woman like her is pregnant without knowing the father.

She left them, to find some privacy around the house so that she could call him.

She watch her brother again, who seem busy with Joy, talking about what they needed to do, and how they would do it, and how it would help them know what actually happened to her.

Though Joy looked confused, all he was saying seem too much for her, but she was very willing to help.
