Grandmother
CHAPTER 13
A sweet smile appeared on her face as she stared at the dress she was holding. She still remembers that it was the dress Anton bought her when she attended the party of Anton's brother.
"You blushed," he commented to his wife who is still smiling.
Ariella was wondering what he said, so to make sure, she touched her cheek.
"I blushed?" she asked.
Anton nodded in response. "Wear it. You look better when you wear it."
She was suddenly stunned by what she heard. She was staring at him and couldn't even blink, and suddenly felt a strong pounding in her chest and heard Anton's words over and over again.
After a while, she suddenly laughed. "I've been beautiful for a long time," she said then headed to the bathroom to change.
Anton just smiled as he watched her leave.
In the bathroom, Ariella stared at herself in front of the large mirror. She touched her face as if examining herself.
Anton's words suddenly came back to her mind.
'Wear it. You look better when you wear that.'
For reasons unknown to her, she suddenly smiled without realizing it.
"Is he sincere to me?" she asked herself laughingly, and combed her hair with her fingers.
She took off her clothes, but suddenly, the door opened. Anton was standing there staring at her. She gasped in shock and left her mouth hanging open.
Anton was smiling and when he looked down at Ariella's naked body, she remembered that she was wearing nothing, so she immediately covered herself with the dress she was holding.
"What the hell are you doing here?" she irritatedly asked.
Anton thought for a moment about what to answer. Even he didn't know why he opened the door.
He just scratched the back of his neck as he grimaced. His mouth was open and he was about to speak but he didn't know what to say so he closed the door again and left.
It was as if a thorn was pulled out of Ariella's throat when Anton left and he closed the door.
She let out a deep breath as she closed her eyes tightly, then laughed a little at what she remembered.
Her face suddenly became serious as something occurred to her. "Will his grandmother like me?" she asked herself. "Me?" she taught herself. "...a woman like me?" she asked again, and pointed to herself.
She snorted then went out with a smile. She was greeted by her husband.
"Shall we go?"
She nodded with a sweet smile on her lips, then they left.
As he said earlier to Ariella, they still have to pick up his grandmother at the international airport.
Their trip took almost 30 minutes before they reached the airport.
"¿Dónde están mis nietos?"
'Where are my grandsons?'
An old woman asked the bodyguards surrounding her. She is 50 years old but it is not noticeable because of her beautiful face.
Immediately, a woman approached her with her body slightly bowed in respect to her.
She politely said, "Coming, Madam Victoria."
She just looked at the female supporter for a moment, then sighed deeply.
From not far away, she immediately saw Anton, so a sweet smile immediately appeared on her lips, and she walked towards them.
"Oh, mi amado nieto. Te extrañé mucho". she said softly and immediately kissed both of Anton's cheeks.
'Oh, my beloved grandson. I missed you so much.'
Ariella was quiet and slightly shocked by what she heard.
"Eres muy guapo como tu padre," she commented. Spanish language is what his grandmother is used to using and she taught Anton to speak the Spanish language.
'You are very handsome just like your father.'
"How's your four-year vacation, grandmother?" Anton asked.
"Es aburrido. No disfruté mis vacaciones, así que decidí quedarme aquí, contigo, y conocer a tu esposa".
'It's boring. I didn't enjoy my vacation, so I decided to stay here, with you, and to meet your wife.'
His voice shows the eagerness to see and meet Anton's wife, but unbeknownst to him, Anton's wife is already in front of him. He just didn't notice Ariella because his attention was focused on Anton and their conversation.
Anton turned his gaze to Ariella and smiled at her. In return, he smiled back.
Her grandmother noticed that so she turned her gaze to Ariella, and the smile disappeared from her lips.
Their eyes met, and for some unknown reason Ariella's chest tightened but she smiled anyway. Not long after, Madam Victoria smiled then turned her gaze back to Anton.
"No puedo esperar para conocer a tu esposa. ¿Por qué no la trajiste contigo?"
'I can't wait to meet your wife. Why didn't you bring her with you?'
Ariella and Anton looked at each other again when Madam Victoria asked again where her husband was when he was already in front of her.
Maybe he doesn't realize that Ariella, the woman in front of him and next to Anton, is Anton's wife.
He looked back at Madam Victoria, and grabbed Ariella's hand so she could notice it. That's what happened but he just ignored it. It's like she doesn't want to think that she is Anton's wife.
"She is Ariella," he introduced her.
"Ariella…is she your assistant?"
He looked coldly at Ariella, and he felt that his grandmother did not like Ariella. He forced himself to smile so that Ariella had nothing else to think about.
Maybe he didn't understand what his grandmother said...
"She is Ariella Quintana…" he purposely did not finish his introduction to Ariella to find out her grandmother's reaction. When her grandmother was about to say something, she immediately added to what she said, "...Villafuerte."
His brow furrowed slightly upon hearing this. "Villafuerte," he repeated. "Don't tell me..."
"She is my wife." He held Ariella's hand tightly and smiled. Ariella also smiled and turned her gaze to Madam Victoria again.
Madam Victoria looked at him from head to toe then returned her gaze to his face.
She smiled, and respectfully greeted her, "Nice to see you, Grandmother—"
"Young Madam must be," he said immediately, then he sighed as his eyebrows were raised. "I'm still too beautiful and young to be called a grandmother. Disgusting," he added, then looked away from Ariella.
"Nice to see you, Madam Victoria. I am Ariella—"
"I know," he said immediately so that he was interrupted. He should have introduced himself fully but Madam Victoria spoke immediately so he could not finish what he was saying.
Anton noticed his grandmother's disobedience to Ariella so he spoke up.
Said, "It's better if we go home now."
His forehead was slightly wrinkled and his eyes seemed to be looking for something.
"What's wrong?"
"¿Dónde está Cindy? ¿Por qué no está contigo?"
'Where is Cindy? Why isn't she with you?'
Upon hearing this, Anton's eyes blinked negligently when he turned his gaze to Ariella, and his lips trembled at the words that wanted to come out of his mouth.
Ariella was speechless during their conversation.
"Let's go," that was the only thing he said so that his grandmother would not mention Cindy's name again. Besides he didn't want to talk about that, he also didn't want to think about Ariella.
"Ella debería ser la que está contigo y no la chica como ella". he said softly before starting to walk away.
'She should be the one with you and not the girl like her.'
He didn't say anything and asked Ariella to leave.
