Confused
CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN
Anton was a few minutes ahead of Ariella. It didn't occur to him that Ariella wanted to come to his office just to have lunch with him.
He calls Ariella but she doesn't answer. He called his phone several times but it just kept ringing.
It occurred to him that Ariella had said that she was on the way but he was ahead of her.
He was suddenly worried. He dialed her phone number and made another call.
While he was trying to call Ariella, he didn't know that Ariella was already at home.
He was lying on the sofa looking at her phone ringing. She just lets Anton call and text. She doesn't answer the call.
"Go ahead. Call as long as you want," she said.
A few minutes later, Anton stopped calling, so she was a little surprised.
"He doesn't really care about me," she said annoyed then frowned. She didn't know that Anton was coming home to find out if she was at home because he was restless. Ariella is not answering his calls, so he is worried.
While she was resting on the sofa, she had no idea that Anton is coming.
A few minutes later, she was distracted when someone suddenly knocked.
She just stood there, wondering who was knocking and whether she should open the door or just let the knocker go. It occurred to her that there might be a bad person outside, so she didn't open the door. She didn't know it was Anton.
When no one opened the door, Anton took the extra key from his bag. Good thing, he has an extra key just in case something like this happens.
While Ariella was standing inside, she was suddenly nervous as she tried to turn the doorknob until it slowly opened.
Anton.
She didn't even move when Anton quickly walked towards her. He hugged her tightly as if they were someone who had never met and were together.
She was unable to move.
She wondered why he suddenly came home and suddenly hugged her. She had no idea. But, despite that, she felt a little comfort in her chest as Anton hugged her.
"You worry me. You're just here," he said while stroking her hair.
"Y-yeah. Is there something wrong?" she asked.
He let go of the embrace but his hands rested on both of her shoulders. He looked directly at her.
"You said you are on your way? Why aren't you answering my calls?"
She couldn't help but laugh a little because of the reaction on his face. He was frowning but it was still a sign that he was worried earlier.
"I changed up my mind. I am sleeping. I didn't notice your calls," she answered though those are lies.
He suddenly held his cheek while frowning.
"I was worried about you."
She stifled a laugh because she expected him to sound like a sulking child.
"I'm sorry," she said with a little laugh.
In an instant, what he witnessed earlier flashback in her mind.
"Have you eaten yet? Do you want me to cook for you?"
She only slightly frowned because she couldn't understand Anton's behavior. Her mind was confused.
"I am hungry," she said.
Anton smiled and said, "I will cook for you."
She just nodded and let him go to the kitchen to cook.
She just lay down on the sofa while waiting for Anton to finish cooking.
She was also stunned for a few minutes. Many things were running through her mind. She was confused. Sooner or later, she will be crazy. Many questions remain unanswered.
While she was deep in thought, she didn't notice Anton's arrival carrying the food.
He put the food on the table and offered her but Ariella's mind and spirit were in another dimension.
He noticed that Ariella seemed to be deep in thought, so he took that chance to stare at her without her realizing it.
Ariella didn't seem to notice Anton next to her who was smiling while staring at her.
There was a relaxed smile on Anton's lips as he watched Ariella.
"I have a very beautiful wife," he said softly causing Ariella to turn to him. At first, Ariella had no reaction until she suddenly realized.
She immediately turned her face away and her surprise was almost a late reaction.
Anton laughed at her. "Would you like to share it with me?"
Frowning, "What share?"
"What were you thinking earlier? It would be better if you share it with me."
She shook her head as she said, "Nothing, nothing. It's just nothing, just bored."
"Are you thinking about me?" he asked, smiling.
She suddenly looked at him, frowning. "Of course not. Why would I?"
"Why?"
She looked away and turned to the food. He prepared her lunch, just her food.
She started eating. She didn't pay attention to him or even say anything because she didn't know what else to say.
"Don't you want to invite me?"
"Eat," she answered quickly while continuing to eat.
He sat in front but he didn't eat. He doesn't even move the food or even put food on his plate.
His eyes were only focused on Ariella.
Ariella suddenly felt, so she stopped for a moment and looked at him for seconds.
"What are you doing? Staring at me the whole day?" she asked but she's not mad.
He smiled and nodded.
"Don't you want to eat? Have lunch with me?"
"Just seeing you, I'm full," he answered as if he was floating in the air.
She didn't take Anton's words seriously because of the things that were bothering her. Although she was really surprised, she didn't pay attention to what he said.
She just ignored it and continued eating while Anton was still like that. He just stared at her as if he was losing his mind.
Ariella feels that Anton doesn't take his eyes off her, so she feels awkward. There are also questions in her mind like 'Is he comparing me to her that's why he is looking at me like that?'
Something really weird and wrong about him.
"Aren't you hungry?" she asked.
He quickly replied, "Just seeing you, I'm full." AGAIN.
She stopped eating. "It's awkward."
"I am drunk, my wife. How about you? Do you want to be drunk?"
She frowned slightly at his question. His question seemed to mean something else and she was sure she was not mistaken.
She raised an eyebrow.
He widened his smile without taking his eyes off her.
"Stop smiling that way. You look like an addict."
He almost laughed at what he said.
"Oh, really?"
She nodded.
"But I am 75% serious," he said while preparing his food.
"I don't get it. Complete your sentence, please."
"I want a mini version of me, my wife."
