Unexpected visitor
CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE
"You didn't answer my question, Anton. Another one, I don't care if you love your wife," her grandmother said.
Anton couldn't hold back any longer, so he suddenly stood up and tried to leave but was stopped.
"Just accept it. Okay, let us not talk about your wife. Just stay."
Anton calmed down before he sat down again. When he was calm, he then spoke, "One thing I want to tell you."
"What is it?" she asked.
"Don't underestimate my wife," he continued.
Madam Victoria just shrugged and rolled her eyes as she agreed to what he said.
Later on, her phone rang, so she immediately stood up to answer it. It is as if she is in a hurry or expecting someone.
Anton lost his appetite, so he was just stunned.
"Come in," she said to someone over the phone.
He heard that, so he frowned as to who she was telling to 'come in.'
A moment later, a woman came. A girl with a blonde and curly hair.
"Good morning, mama Ria," she greeted, and when Anton heard that, he remembered something. He has doubts about who it is because only one woman calls his grandmother 'mama Ria'.
"Good morning, Cindy. I'm so glad that you are here," she said.
When Anton heard that, he suddenly stood up in shock while looking at them.
"What is she doing here?" he suddenly asked.
"She is my visitor," said Madam Victoria happily.
They both stared at each other but Anton frowned.
"Oh I didn't expect that you are here. Is your wife here too?" asked Cindy.
"She's not here, and not welcome," Madam Victoria answered weakly so Anton couldn't answer.
"I have to go. My wife is waiting for me," Anton said and tried to leave again but Madam Victoria immediately grabbed him and forced him to stay.
"Please, Anton. You suddenly left on my birthday and now you are leaving again," she grumbled. "I just want to have bonding with you. You are my favorite grandson, you know that," she added and almost cried while speaking and pitying Anton.
"We better reschedule it," answered Anton.
"Please, Anton. Do you also have no time for me? I'm always alone here. Your brother always leaves. Please, just stay even just for a day. I just want to be with you even just fo a single day, grandson," she begged.
Because Anton's heart was soft, he was persuaded to stay. He wants to leave because of Cindy. He has a different doubt because it seems like his grandmother meant to send Cindy there.
"Okay," answered Anton sparingly before he sat down.
It seems that Madam Victoria was about to become a star when she agreed with Anton. That was just an act so she could convince Anton. Her smile reached her ears as ahe looked at Cindy.
"Oh, before I forget, have you eaten yet?" she asked Cindy.
Cindy thought for a moment, looked at Anton, then she answered, "I haven't eaten yet."
"Perfect! Join us," she offered. There is no more refusal.
There she made Cindy sit next to Anton while she sat across from them. Even though it was a bit awkward for Anton, he didn't react.
While they were eating, Cindy kept glancing at Anton. Anton didn't pay attention to her because he was busy. He was texting with Ariella. He doesn't feel like eating anymore.
A few moments later, Madam Victoria suddenly asked Cindy.
"How was your vacation here?"
"We enjoyed our vacation but we will also leave after 2 months," she answered.
"But why?"
She looked at him and smiled at Anton as well.
"For our wedding," she answered with a smile.
"Why not Anton?" she asked weakly. Anton suddenly looked at her because of what she said. 'why not Anton?' that's her question.
Cindy didn't react and didn't say a word. She just shrugged her shoulders as if she didn't hear what she said.
There was silence for a few minutes after she said that until Anton's phone suddenly rang.
Ariella is calling, so he suddenly stands up to answer the call but Madam Victoria stops him.
"You can answer that later," she said.
"This might be important," he replied. "I want to know why she's calling," he added.
Madam Victoria was about to speak to force him not to answer the call but Cindy spoke.
"It is okay, Anton, mama Ria. Maybe his wife has to tell him something important," she said. Anton looked at her for a moment. No reaction, just a look.
"Excuse me," Anton said then left. He just moved a few meters away from them to answer Ariella's call and to understand her.
"Hello," said Ariella from the other line.
"Hello. Why did you suddenly get summoned? Do you need something?"
"No, no. I just want to ask where you are now."
"I am still here. I will be home soon."
He didn't hear a response from her except for a noise he couldn't make out.
He was puzzled as to what Ariella was doing because she didn't say anything and all he could hear was the noise of cars.
It occurred to him that Ariella might be going somewhere.
"My wife?" he called but he didn't hear any response from her. "Hello? My wife? Hello?"
A few moments later, Ariella suddenly spoke.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm just a little bit busy," he said.
He became complacent when he heard her voice. It suddenly occurred to him that maybe something bad had happened to her and that's why she wasn't speaking during their call.
"Are you okay? What are you doing? Where are you? I heard noises. Are you going somewhere?" he asked.
"Umm I will just buy something. Oh, bye, honey. Enjoy."
He was about to speak when she suddenly cut the call. He never called Ariella again. He just texted 'Take care. I love you'. As usual, there was no reply from Ariella so he returned.
He caught them busy with what they were doing. She thinks his grandmother is teaching Cindy how to cook. Cindy is carefully cutting vegetables.
"Be careful, okay?" she reminded.
She nodded. There was a smile on her lips. It is obvious that she is enjoying it.
Anton suddenly remembered that Cindy wanted to learn cooking and wats him to teach her but because he was busy with Ariella, that didn't happen.
He just looked at them. He wanted to help Cindy but himself stopped him.
He was worried that Cindy might be injured by a knife. Because she is not good at cooking, especially cutting vegetables.
"Be careful," she reminded again.
She laughed a bit.
"Anton, why don't you help her? Since you know how to cook, teach her," she said to him.
He did not agree to her wishes. He himself also stopped him. Even if he wanted to, his legs didn't want to step up and come to Cindy to help her.
He focused on what Cindy was doing. When he couldn't stand it, he came and took the knife. Just gently.
She was surprised at what he suddenly did.
"You might get injured. You don't know how to cut vegetables yet," he said then started chopping the vegetables.
Even though Cindy was speechless, that made her smile. A wider smile can be seen on Madam Victoria's face.
Cindy happily watched what Anton was doing. She couldn't avoid glancing at his face.
"When you are done slicing these vegetables, prepare the other ingredients," he instructed.
Cindy follows what he says and does. Anton did not realize what he was doing.
"There is a cooking lesson here. I was not informed," suddenly said a woman. They suddenly stopped what they were doing when he arrived.
Their eyes also widened in shock when they saw her.
