Surprised
CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR
FLASHBACK
While Ariella was at home, she was restless. She don't know what to do, sit-and-walk, walking the same way over and over again. It's like she's confused today.
Ever since Anton left, she couldn't be reassured. She didn't understand why she was doing that. Shw wants to know where Anton really is and if he is really at his grandmother's house. Besides that, she wanted to know what he was doing.
"What the hell, Ariella," she said annoyed to herself then stopped walking.
She forces herself not to overthink because she shouldn't.
She took the phone and texted him, and he replied immediately. Despite that, she is still not satisfied with their conversation.
After minutes, she put the phone down on the desk and then sat on the sofa and leaned back to rest herself, especially her mind.
She closed her eyes but instead of clearing her mind, things disturbed her even more, so she immediately woke up.
"What's wrong with you, Ariella?" she asked herself in despair. She doesn't know what to do now. She was really restless that's why she couldn't stand it anymore.
She thought of following him, so she left. She intends to go to Anton to make sure he is there. It seems that if it is necessary for her to watch over and follow Anton, she will do it just to make her feel content.
She waited for taxis but they were just passing by.
Something suddenly occurred to her, so she dialed his phone number and called him.
It is ringing.
She waited for him to pick up the phone but it took so long for him to answer it.
Still ringing.
"Ariella, relax yourself," she reminded then took a deep breath as she closed her eyes. "Inhale, exhale. Relax," she added. Now, she feels calmed down at least a little.
Finally, he answered it.
She first said, "Hello."
"Hello. Why did you suddenly get summoned? Do you need something?" Anton said over the phone.
She tried so hard to calm herself, saying, "No, no. I just want to ask where you are now."
"I am still here. I will be home soon," he said.
She didn't say a word at that moment because she didn't pay attention to what Anton said. She was busy waiting for a taxi so she could get on.
She forgot they were still on call.
"My wife?" he called but she didn't hear it because the noise on the road was even louder, especially the cars passing by. "Hello? My wife? Hello?"
A few moments passed before she answered. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm just a little bit busy," she said.
A taxi stopped, so she got in immediately, and didn't realize that Anton was still talking to her, but because she was so busy, she didn't notice it.
"Are you okay? What are you doing? Where are you? I heard noises. Are you going somewhere?" he asked now that she had heard. She was already in the car, traveling.
"Amm I will just buy something. Oh, bye, honey. Enjoy," she said in a hurry, and didn't wait for his response.
A few seconds passed, she received a text message from him.
'Take care. I love you.'
She just read it silently and ignored it. She didn't even reply to him.
A few minutes later, she arrived at Anton's grandmother's house. Because the guards knew her, they did not hesitate to let her in.
All she wants is to make sure that Anton is here, that's all.
She was greeted by the maids watering the plants in the garden, and returned it with a greeting and a smile.
When she entered inside, there was no one, so she was surprised. She continued walking. It didn't even occur to her to call Anton so that she could find him quickly.
Not until she heard voices, so she got curious. She followed where that noise came from. She was even more curious when she heard a voice of a girl that she thinks is the same age as her. She knew Madam Victoria's voice. She heard not only Madam Victoria's voice but another woman.
From where she was standing, she could see them. Now she knows what they are doing that insulted her but she remains silent. She approached silently and they didn't notice her because they're busy.
She was disgusted and insulted by what she saw. As if she would laugh in annoyance.
"There's a cooking lesson here, I wasn't informed," she said causing them to notice her.
END OF FLASHBACK
Their eyes widened in shock when they saw her.
There was a trace of shock in their reactions as if they had seen a ghost, especially Anton.
"My wife," Anton said in shocked.
"Ariella," said Cindy.
"What are you doing here?" Madam Victoria asked.
That was the series of questions they asked her. She just laughed out of annoyance.
"Why do you think you saw a ghost?" she jokingly asked them. "Hello," she added. "This is me." She looked at Anton, a look Anton had never seen before. "....your spouse." She looked at Madam Victoria then said, "..your daughter-in-law." Last but not the least, she looked at her, at Cindy. "Oh, you're here. I wasn't informed that there was a cooking lesson here. I wish you had told me so that I could teach you," she said.
"You really shouldn't be informed. No eres bienvenido aqui. (you are not welcome here.)" replied Madam Victoria.
She laughed in mind. She was about to speak when Anton got ahead of her.
"I'm sorry, my wife. Don't think too much about these. We are not doing anything wrong," he said causing her to look at him and smirked.
She almost laughed softly. She is very insulted but she doesn't show it.
"Why are you defending yourself? Did I say anything wrong?" she asked.
"You better go, Ariella. I told you you are not welcome here if you did not understand what I said earlier."
She looked at Madam Victoria when zhe said that. One of her eyebrows rose in annoyance.
"Entiendo (I understand)" she said.
She suddenly frowned and so did Anton. This was the first time he heard Ariella speak the Spanish language. It didn't even occur to him that she knew how to speak Spanish.
"How long did you study that?" she insulted.
She smiled, saying, "Un año. ¿Quizás? (A year. Perhaps?)"
Their faces show that they are shocked but Madam Victoria still does not believe that she knows how to speak the Spanish language or even understand it.
"You can't fool me, Ariella," she said.
"¿Soy yo? ( Am I? )" she asked.
Madam Victoria raised her brows because of what she said. She felt as if Ariella was insulting her.
"My wife, let's just go. I will explain it." Anton said then approached her.
"Explain what?" she asked.
"Please, my w
ife. I know you. Let's just go so we can talk about it."
He held her hand but Ariella didn't like it.
"No me toques. (Don't touch me)"
