Arguments
CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE
The arguments
"I said don't touch me, Anton!" Ariella said emphatically but did not shout. Just the right balance of the voice. She doesn't react much.
Anton immediately released her.
"My wife, let us go. I will explain," he said, trying to convince her but Ariella was not in her mood now for her to believe him.
"Let her go and don't force her. Tan exigente. (So choosy)" Madam Victoria added. Anton did not listen to her and coaxed Ariella so that she would not get angry.
"I said, don't touch me, Anton. I will leave if I want," Ariella insisted.
For a few moments, she looked at Cindy who now seemed restless. "Hello, Cindy. How was the cooking lesson? Did you learn anything?" she asked insultingly.
"Ariella, listen," she said calmly making Ariella laugh slightly in annoyance. "It doesn't mean anything else, okay?"
"Really?" she asked annoyed.
"My wife, please. Let us go."
She immediately turned her gaze and attention back to Anton, she says, "I will leave alone. You better stay here and continue the cooking lesson with your ex."
She quickly left and Anton quickly followed her.
While following Ariella, he says, "Please, my wife. Talk to me."
She didn't stop walking and says, "I am already talking to you, Anton."
"Please. I know you are angry with me."
She laughed with a mixture of annoyance. "Why would I?"
Until they get out of the main gate, they are still like that. He still followed her.
He got in the car so Anton got in too.
Ariella's eyebrows meet while tilting her head to avoid looking at him because she was only getting more annoyed.
"My wife," he called.
"Drive," she commanded.
"Listen to me first, my wife-"
"I said, drive!"
Anton was speechless when Ariella raised her voice. Even though she wasn't looking at him, he knew that Ariella was very angry, so he didn't speak. He drove off.
Their trip was quiet. Ariella didn't even try to say anything. She is angry and she wants to calm herself first, so she just shut up.
He didn't speak or even ask for Anton's explanation, she don't want to. She prefers to keep quiet, to calm herself down so she can't speak badly. She knows herself. When she can't control herself when she's angry, she ends up saying words she doesn't want to say.
"Please talk to me," he said while driving. He didn't look at her because his eyes and attention were focused on driving.
Ariella didn't say a word. She only focused on her phone, on the novel she was reading.
"My wife," he called but she didn't look at him or even answer. He calls her repeatedly but she doesn't answer. She didn't even look at him for a moment.
Ariella could hear him but just past her ears. She didn't want to say anything because she wasn't totally calm yet. Maybe when her chest is on fire, the words she will say will be on fire too.
"My wife," he called again while driving.
Ariella couldn't stand it anymore. "Just drive. Focus," she said without even looking at him even just for a second.
As she said, he just drove until they reached their house.
Anton went out first to open the door for her but she went down immediately because she knew what Anton was going to do.
Anton also wanted to hold her hand, so she walked into the house. She didn't even pay attention to him and went straight to the room. Anton followed her, trying to find the perfect timing to talk to her properly.
He is like the wind that Ariella can't see but can feel. Even if he wanted to explain, he couldn't.
"My wife," he called but Ariella ignored him.
She went to the bathroom to take a shower, so he just waited for her to come out.
Ariella was just inside the bathroom. She was soaking in the bathtub while staring at the ceiling. Her mind was flying everywhere with so many questions and many things, so she didn't realize that her tears were falling while she was stunned.
When she realized that her tears were falling on her own, she closed her eyes tightly. When she closed her eyes for a moment, she felt more the weight of what she carried.
It's like she's drowning in a sadness she doesn't want to feel. What was even more painful was that no one knew how much she was hurting.
"My wife?" Anton softly called outside the door, knocked twice.
She suddenly realized it, so she immediately finished bathing and covered her body with a towel.
She took a deep breath before opening the door. She didn't look at him even though he was in front of the door when she came out.
Anton's gaze followed her. He wants to talk to Ariella but he hasn't been able to find a good timing because it's obvious that Ariella is avoiding him. Ariella doesn't even look at him, so he doesn't know how to explain.
He knows that Ariella is upset, so he wants to explain so that they can settle down.
"Please talk to me, my wife."
Ariella didn't even pay attention to him. She continued applying lotion on her body while sitting on the bed.
He approached her, kneeling in front of her for their eyes to meet. Unfortunately, Ariella didn't even look at him even for a second. It is obvious that she is avoiding him.
"I'm sorry. Please, let me explain."
This time, upon saying it, Ariella looked at him emotionless. He doesn't know what's inside her mind right now. One thing for sure, she is mad at him because of what happened.
She didn't speak but seriously looked at him.
"What you saw earlier doesn't mean anything else," he said, meeting what he thought was an indication that he couldn't figure out.
She raised one eyebrow.
"I don't know that my grandmother invited her. If I had known, I wouldn't have gone," he added.
"Really?" she asked annoyed at his explanations.
"I swear. All I know is she wants me to visit her. I didn't know Cindy was coming. Actually, I was about to leave when I saw her because I know grandmother did it on purpose. She just begged me to stay , so I stayed for her. About the cooking… I just helped her. I instructed what to do and prepare. Please, believe me. That has no meaning," he explained
Ariella took a deep sigh when he finished his explanations. She wants to believe him but her feelings won't change.
She didn't know what to say, so she remained silent.
"Please, believe me. I'm sorry if I didn't tell you or leave right away."
She was mentally blocked. She doesn't know what to do, to say, to act, to feel.
She finds it so hard being his wife. At first, she was comfortable, now, she doubted him.
Little by little, she lost her trust in Anton.
She stood up and walked away from him. The best thing she can do is to avoid him for now, so that she can have time to calm herself.
"I'm sorry, please. Please talk to me. Say anything, my wife. I am really sorry for what happened. Believe me, please."
He almost begged to Ariella. He almost knelt down and kissed her hand to prove that what he was saying was true.
She was restless. Her ears are deaf to what her mind is saying even to what Anton is saying.
Her chest is like a bomb about to explode.
"What do you want me to do to forgive me?!"
Upon hearing that, she stopped even her mind for a moment.
"Please, my wife. I am sorry. I will do anything just forgive me. Tell me."
"Leave me alone for now, Anton," she said coldly.
"What? B-but-"
"Give me some space for now. Please."
"But-"
"Please!"
