CHAPTER 51
Anton and Ariella woke up early because they both didn't sleep well last night. Both of them can't find the reason why they can't sleep well.
They went downstairs together and went to the kitchen to prepare their breakfast especially since Ariella's Dad and sister were still here.
In the kitchen, they saw Nanny Yel preparing something to cook, so they came closer.
"Good morning, Ma'am, Sir," she happily greeted while washing the meat.
"Good morning," they said together. Anton first took water from the refrigerator.
"You woke up early , Nanny Yel" she commented before she removed the sausages from the plastic.
"Yes ma'am. I am used to it," she answered while busy with what she was doing.
“Did you rest well? It's okay for us to cook if you need extra time to rest yourself," said Anton before helping Ariella.
"I am fine, Sir. Ma'am, just rest. I will take care of them. It's my job," she said before frying the pork belly.
"Are you sure, Nanny? Oh, be careful. The oil might spill," he said.
"I am used to it, Sir. It would be better if you go back to sleep again so that when you wake up again, breakfast will be ready."
"It's okay, Nanny Yel. We want to help you to make it faster and easier. The more, the merrier, right?” Ariella said.
“Indeed, my wife.”
Nanny Yel just agreed and didn't force them anymore. The smile couldn't be removed from her lips while she was cooking.
They finished quickly before 6 o'clock in the morning. Lance woke up but Ara was still asleep.
"Good morning," he greeted when he saw them preparing foods in the long table.
"Good morning, Dad," they both greeted and offered him to sit.
"Where is Ara, Dad? He went to school early today." Ariella said.
He answered before sitting down
"She is still sleeping. I woke her up but she didn't want to get up. That's why she's always late for school because she's always soaked in bed."
"I will wake her up," she said and was about to leave.
"Let me do it, Ma'am," said Nanny Yel, so she stopped.
"Okay, Nanny Yel." Ariella said.
Nanny Yel went upstairs and knocked on the door where Ara was still sleeping.
She just knocked once before she decided to open it. She saw her lying in the bed, and she could hear her soft snoring.
She approached her and called her name many times but Ara just turned away from her.
"Wake up. You will be late in school," she said as she stood.
"I am still sleepy, sister. Will you please get out and let me sleep for a while?” she said that without opening her eyes.
"You have to get up now. The food is waiting. Wake up, get up, Ara.”
Ara just covered her ears.
She sat down and patted Ara's leg just like a baby, then she sang without opening her mouth.
"Hmmm...Hmm..hmmm hmm.." she sings.
Ara suddenly got confused but she ignored it and just enjoyed what Nanny Yel is doing.
"You still remember that," she commented. She thought it was Ara. Because she didn't look at Nanny Yel so ahe didn't know that Nanny Yel was next to her and not her sister, Ariella.
********
It's already 9 o'clock in the evening. They are now in the lobby, watching Netflix on flatscreen television after their dinner.
Ariella's Dad went outside to refresh his mind. Anton followed him.
He sat for a while, looking at the sky.
He remembered something, so he went inside again. He met Anton but he ignored him.
Anton stopped and couldn't take his eyes off him.
He went to the kitchen, so Anton followed him again to talk to him.
He stopped and looked at Nanny Yel who was busy wiping the plates.
After a while, Nanny Yel noticed him and was shocked but immediately returned her gaze to what she was doing.
He came closer.
Neither of them spoke. He was just watching what Nanny Yel was doing.
She immediately finished what she was doing as if she was in a hurry.
"Do you need drinks, Sir?" she asked without looking at him.
"Don't call me Sir," he said.
Anton stopped when he saw them. He wondered what his father-in-law was doing in the kitchen.
"Are they talking?" he weakly asked. He remained in his position while watching them. It was still a mystery to him what they were talking about.
"What do you need? Why are you here?” she asked.
"Shouldn't I be the one to ask you that? Why are you here? What are you doing here?" he asked.
Nanny Yel turned her back to him while she was busy with what she was doing in the sink.
"Isn't it obvious? I am working here," she answered as she continued what she was doing.
"I don't understand your point, why you are working here. You chose to work here. What are you planning? What happened to you? Why do you have to work as a maid?”
She stopped as if thinking of something when he asked those questions.
"You don't care," that was her response before continuing what she was doing.
While Anton stood and watched them, he was confused as to what they were talking about but he didn't speak or come forward to ask.
He got even closer to Nanny Yel. To avoid him, Nanny Yel put the plates away and stacked the 5 plates in her hands.
"Let me help you," he said and tried to take the plates she was holding but she immediately avoided them.
"I don't need your help. You better go back to the lobby where they are also there," she said.
He didn't listen to her and insisted that he wanted to help her.
"Give me those plates. Let me help you, so you can take a rest," he said and tried to grab the plates from her but she tried to keep them away.
"I don't need your help, Lance!" she said emphatically with her face disfigured.
He didn't pay attention to her reaction even though he knew she was already irritated by him. He tried to get the plates she was holding from her but she tried to keep those away until it accidentally fell on the floor and broke everything.
Both of them and Anton were shocked because of what happened.
"Look at what you've done!" she said and was almost restless. She picked up the broken glasses one by one.
"Stop, Ariel. Your hand will be injured," he said and held her hands to make her stop.
"Nanny Yel, what happened?" Anton asked then approached them.
They were both alarmed by Anton's sudden arrival, so they both stood up and looked at him.
Anton noticed that there was blood on Nanny Yel's hand.
"Your hand is bleeding, Nannying Yel," he commented while looking at her hand.
Immediately, they turned their gaze and saw that Nanny Yel's hand was covered in
blood. She was still holding some broken plates. Perhaps she was injured when she frantically picked up the broken plates.
"You're bleeding," he said.
