CHAPTER 60
ARGUMENTS
Before Ariella got home, Anton called her a few times but she didn't answer even one of Anton's calls.
Even though she didn't want to go home, she was forced to go home. She was not ready to talk to Anton or even see him.
She's not ready to hear whatever he has to say and her heart is even more unprepared to be crushed by what she can hear and know.
She caught up with Anton at their house as soon as she entered.
Anton immediately approached and hugged her. She just stood motionless and just let it go until Anton let go of his own accord.
“My wife, I-i - I'm sorry. I will explain," he said and he was very restless about how he would persuade Ariella.
Ariella did not speak but continued walking to avoid him.
Anton followed her and kept on saying, 'I'm sorry, my wife.'
"Please, talk to me, my wife," he begged while following her upstairs.
No words came out of Ariella's mouth. As long as she can handle her emotions, she doesn't speak because she knows herself. She knows that many hurtful words will come out of her mouth because of her overflowing emotions.
She went to their bedroom as if she didn't hear anything and didn't see Anton.
She sat on the bed with her tired chest. As she had felt before, it came back again. She felt again the feeling she didn't want to feel.
It's like a bucket full of water and overflowing if you compare her feelings right now, but she tried her best to control herself, to calm and to gain some confidence to listen to what Anton had to say.
"My wife, talk to me. Stop avoiding me. I will explain," Anton said and tried to approach her.
She took a deep breath but still didn't speak. She could feel that her tears were about to form.
He knelt in front of her so that he and Ariella could look at each other, and held her hands. Ariella just lets him do what he wants. She doesn't care at all.
"My wife, please, listen. I am really sorry," he softly said as if really sincere.
This time, she took the confidence of saying, "Sorry?" she asked.
Anton lowered his head when she asked that.
"I'm sorry. I-i am r-really s-sorry,” he repeated the words. He looked at Ariella again. "What you saw earlier was nothing. It's just nothing-”
"Nothing?"
He stopped. Now he could see clearly her real reactions even though she only said simple words.
"We just have a meeting so we are together. I forgot to tell you that they are one of my business partners. That was just for a meeting. It means nothing. Please, I am sorry.”
She was unable to speak, and was amazed by his false explanations. The pain she feels is replaced by anger and irritation.
"Please, say something," he said that's why she turned her gaze to him.
"Say something?" she asked with mixed laughter and irritations. She stood up and didn't know where she was going to walk.
"Please, forgive me. That's the truth, my wife," he said and held her hand.
Shockingly, when he held her hand, she faced him with a slap on his face. That was a very hard slap which he really deserved.
He was shocked and really couldn't believe what she did.
She felt more anger along with an inexplicable heaviness in her chest. Then, again, she slapped his other cheek. He received several slaps.
He was even more shocked and couldn't hardly believe that Ariella did that with full force.
“My wife!”
He stepped backward, while Ariella finally sat on the bed.
Her chest felt like it was going to explode. It's like she's gone back in time.
But even though Ariella had physically hurt him, he still approached her and tried convincing her, begging, and calling her.
"Believe me, my wife. I am telling the truth-”
"The f*cking truth!" she yelled. "I am not a fool, not a blind, not a numb, not a deaf, and not a f*cking little kid who will listen and believe in you!"
"My wife, please. Forgive me. Please, forgive me. I am really sorry. It's just nothing-”
“Stop. I will beg for you to stop if you are only going to tell lies. It is much better not to speak at all."
She stood up to leave but Anton grabbed her arm and stopped her.
"Please, forgive me, my wife. I am really sorry," he begged.
“Tell me, why can't you move on from her? Is she still there?” she asked, which he didn't even expect.
He couldn't answer her questions. He didn't know what to say.
Ariella already knows the answer through him. She could clearly see through his eyes.
Her eyes couldn't stop blinking and she felt more like she was about to cry.
Her self-control not to cry made her cry even more.
Her tears kept falling as she looked at him. She couldn't speak and all she could do was cry.
Anton suddenly felt pity as he watched Ariella cry in front of him, so he wiped it away but Ariella moved her face away.
"I hope you don't marry me if you can't forget her. I thought I had a huge space in your heart, but I was wrong," she said before he left the room.
Anton immediately followed her while calling her.
"Please, my wife, talk to me!"
Ariella didn't look at him and continued walking until she got out of the mansion.
Shee was about to leave when it suddenly started to rain so hard that she stopped and Anton caught up with her.
"My wife, please. Please, let's talk. We can fix it," he said.
Ariella ignored him and went back inside.
She was in the lobby and Anton followed her there.
"Please, please, please," he begged and held her hand so she would stop avoiding him.
This time, she looked at him again.
"How could you manage to do this to me?!" she asked and let her tears fall.
"I am sorry, my wife. That was just our first meeting together. That's all. That just once and we did it for business-"
"Stop fooling me! You know, I am tired of listening to your lies! I thought, if I give you a second chance, you will correct what you did wrong and you won't do it again. I was wrong. You've never regained my trust in you, you've broken it again!"
She paused for a moment. She wanted to say more but she was immediately overcome by tears.
She suddenly felt weak and her chest was so heavy.
Anton just stood there and was unable to move.
"Now I know the reason for your sudden changes and coldness. I endured everything even though you didn't have time for me. No updates, no calls or texts. Even though I knew you were lying to me, I chose not to speak. Was she with you when you left here and you told me you had a meeting at the office? But when I came to surprise you in your office, you weren't there and the staff told me that you were off work that day. When I asked you about it, you said you're tired and stressed in your office. You were in your office at that time, without knowing that I knew you weren't there. You don't know how you made me a fool!”
She stopped because she couldn't breathe because of the cold stuck in her nose.
She couldn't take it anymore so she left and went back to their bedroom and locked it.
Anton kept calling her and knocking on the door but she didn't open it for him.
She was just sitting on the floor with her back against the wall and she was crying.
