CHAPTER 66
THE RESULTS
Anton was restless. He had been walking for a while and was not sure if he should sit or walk.
He has been waiting for the doctors to come out. To this day, he does not know why she is in the operating room. It's a mystery to him to this day what happened to Ariella.
He didn't expect it. It never occurred to him that this would happen today.
He can't leave her. He's willing to wait until she is released from the O.R.
After almost half an hour, the doctors came out.
He immediately approached them but some left and only a female doctor remained and faced him.
"How's my wife? What happened to her? Is she okay? Can I see her?” he asked the doctor.
"Her condition was stable now ... .but she lost her baby," she said, which really shocked him, especially upon hearing 'she lost her baby'.
"W-w-what? W-what d-did you say? B-baby?” he stammered.
"Yes. My condolences. I'm sorry but we did everything we could to save the baby but the baby's grip is weak."
It was as if his ears suddenly rang at what he heard. He couldn't believe what he just found out.
He didn't even realize his tears were falling.
"Sh-she's pregnant?"
"Yes, Sir. Your wife was 2 weeks pregnant, but your wife's body weakened because of emotional stress, so she became dizzy and lost consciousness. Because the baby was only 2 weeks old in her womb and her attachment was also weak, the baby was unable to survive. It's good that she was taken to the hospital early because if it took longer…she would have had complications."
He didn't know what to do. He couldn't even think straight. His tears just kept falling.
He didn't even imagine that Ariella was pregnant. It didn't even occur to him that she was pregnant.
He regretted it suddenly. He remembered all the pains he had caused to Ariella so he was very stressed.
He regrets that he hurt Ariella emotionally, and he didn't know how to deal with it.
He waited so long for them to have a child even though he knew Ariella wasn't ready. But she was pregnant for 2 weeks.
Only now did he realize what Ariella meant by what she said before. That was the surprise she was talking about. He only realized that now so he was very sorry for everything he had done.
If he hadn't hurt her, they would have been a happy family. It wouldn't have led to a divorce, and even more so he wouldn't have been dumped.
He was so down at this moment. He cried while sitting in the waiting area until they took Ariella out of the operating room to move her to a private room.
He immediately approached them.
When he saw her, he felt pity and guilt.
"Are you her relative?" the doctor asked.
"I'm her husband. How is she? When will she wake up?”
“She's stable now. All we have to do is to wait until she wakes up. Don't worry about her, she's fine. Maybe tomorrow, you can go home."
"Okay. Thank you.”
"Excuse me."
He entered the room and sat next to the hospital bed where she was lying.
As he watched Ariella, he couldn't stop crying while holding her hand.
There are so many things on his mind but he doesn't know what to do.
To this day, he still can't believe that they will have a baby.
There are many questions in his mind that have no answers and only Ariella can answer them.
"I'm sorry," was all he could say.
While her head was on the bed, Ariella suddenly woke up.
She wondered where she was and what happened to her, until she noticed him.
"Wh-what- are we d-doing here?" she asked in confusion.
Upon hearing her voice, Anton immediately looked at her. Somehow, he smiled because she's finally awake.
Ariella was still wondering about the place and tried to remember what happened to her.
"You are okay now," he softly said and smiled somehow even though he was very sad.
"As I remember, I just felt dizzy then...I passed out and I don't know what happened next," she said while trying to remember what happened. "Did you take me here?" she asked.
He shook his head and said, "No. I just saw you being carried in the ambulance so I followed you."
Ariella nodded slowly. "I don't want to stay here for long," she said.
"Are you okay? Are you feeling well?”
She nodded but a few seconds later, he noticed something weird. She placed her hand over her tummy and immediately got worried about her baby.
Anton noticed it and it's hurting him. As of now, she is unaware of what happened to their baby.
He finds it hard to tell her that they lost their baby. He doesn't know how to tell her.
"Aren't you going to tell me something?" he asked, which suddenly confused her.
She was about to speak when she realized what his point was, and remembered about her pregnancy.
It occurred to her whether she will tell him or not.
"Actually, I have something to tell you," she said while taking the courage to tell him straight.
At this moment, Anton already knew what she was going to tell him, but he kept silent. He wants her to tell him straight.
She couldn't look at Anton and just bowed her head while playing with her fingers.
"I...I am pregnant," she said, and then finally looked at him.
Anton just looked at her in a different and meaningful way which she couldn't understand.
She noticed his emotionless reaction as if he was not happy that she was already pregnant with their first ever baby.
She frowned and felt irritated. "What kind of reaction is that? Aren't you happy?"
"I am," he calmly said. "But why didn't you tell me right away?"
"Actually, I really have no intention of telling you. I can raise my child alone. You don't have to know that you have a child with me but I realized that you have the right to know but it doesn't mean that we can still fix our marriage. You can visit our child when I give birth to him. You have a right to the child but not to me. I hope it's clear."
Anton held back his tears especially every time he remembered what the doctor said that they lost their baby. He doesn't know how to tell her about this.
He could see the happiness in her eyes and even there, he didn't want to replace that with sadness that would remain in her heart forever.
He remained silent. Not a single word came out of his mouth in response to what she said, and she noticed that.
Even though Ariella noticed that he didn't seem to care about what she said, she didn't speak. It doesn't matter if he doesn't care about her pregnancy as long as she tells him everything.
Anton lowered his head, thinking about those things.
A couple of minutes passed before he spoke.
"I have something to tell you," he said, which confused her.
"What is it?"
Now, she's wondering about it. So many things entered her mind about it. She overthought already.
He didn't look at Ariella and it took almost a minute before he spoke again.
"I'm sorry," he said.
"I heard that a million times. It is not so easy to forgive without hatred and it may take a long time to heal. Maybe one day I will forgive you too."
He still didn't look at Ariella.
"Thank you, but I have something to tell you."
"Okay. Then tell me now.”
He let out a deep sigh before he spoke, "You have a..." he gave her a sorrowful look, "...miscarriage."
Her ears suddenly rang at the word 'miscarriage'.
Her eyes widened in shock. She couldn't believe it.
"What? Wh-what- are you saying? N-n-no!” Her tears began to flow and this time, he came closer to her and held her hand to ease her feelings.
"You lost our baby. I'm s-sorry.”
