Heartache
CHAPTER 67
HEARTACHE
"You're lying! No! That can't be true! You're lying! Don't say that! No! No!”
She almost pushed Anton while trying to convince herself that what he said was not true. Her tears flowed unceasingly.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but it's true," he cried as he tried to stay calm.
“It's not true! No! No! I won't believe in you! Why are you saying that to me!? Huh?!”
“It's true. I'm not lying. I'm sorry. I'm sorry if we lost our baby." He tries to hug Ariella to somehow calm her down but Ariella hurts him and pushes him away.
“I won't believe in you! Leave me alone! Get out! Leave me alone! I don't want to see you! I don't want to hear your voice! Get out! Leave me!”
Even Anton couldn't stop his tears from falling. He still tries to comfort her but she's pushing him away and yelling at him.
"Please. Please. I'm sorry. I'm sorry," he said repeatedly.
“Get out! Leave me alone! I don't want to see your f*cking face anymore! Leave me!”
Anton just stepped back and couldn't take his eyes off her. He felt pity for her because he knew her heart was breaking more than him.
"Leave me alone!"
"I'm sorry," that's his last words before he left.
It was as if her world had collapsed and she was drowning in her own tears.
She couldn't believe what happened and didn't want to believe what he said.
"No! No! I'm still pregnant with my lovely child. That can't happen," she said to herself while caressing her tummy and feeling her little one in her womb even though her tears continued to flow.
But even if she told herself that it wasn't true, she knew that what happened couldn't be changed. She is only fooling herself.
She lay down and leaned over with her hand on her tummy. She continued to cry endlessly. It seems that her tears will not run out and her eyes are not getting tired.
Later on, the doctor came to check her conditions.
"How are you, Mrs. Villafuerte? Are you awake?” She asked while checking her serum and checking the medicines she will give to her.
Ariella hears her but she doesn't want to entertain her.
"Does your body hurt? Are you feeling well now?” she asked again in her angelic voice.
She doesn't care about her and doesn't want to face her at all.
The doctor hears her sobbing so she lets out a deep sigh while watching her. She was still on her side crying, and even if she only sobs weakly, she could still hear it.
"I know it's hard to accept it, but God has a plan for you. He has the reason why it happened and soon, you will know why. Life is tough. Many mothers have experienced that and you're just one of them. You have to move forward because if you stay like that, you won't know the reason why all this happened to you. Go on, cry all day. It is really hard to accept it. It will really break your heart, but you have to move forward.”
Even though she was not facing her, she was listening to what she said and it entered her mind.
"Will you please sit on the bed so I can check you," she said.
Even though she didn't want to, she followed what the doctor said, then she wiped her tears.
"Are you feeling well? Does your body hurt?”
She smirked and said, "Do you think I am feeling well?"
The doctor stares at her as if she's trying to read what's in her mind right now.
"You have to tell me because I am the doctor," she said.
"My body is okay. Just physically okay...but emotionally not okay. You know that, doctor.”
She let out a deep sigh before writing down her statement.
"May I ask why I had a miscarriage?"
"Your baby's attachment is weak and because it's just 2 weeks old, he hasn't survived yet. When we examined you, it is because of too much stress and because you are emotionally stressed, it affects the baby's condition. Because what you feel, your baby also feels, so if you are happy, your baby is happy too. If you are sad, he will be sad too. What you feel, he feels too.
I'm sorry but we did everything we could to save your baby but the baby didn't survive anymore."
Her explanations made her cry again, then she remembered every single moment that she was crying and very stressed. She regretted that she had suddenly become depressed. She hopes she can make up her mind. If only she had known that her baby's attachment was weak, she would have ignored everything.
“It's all my fault,” she cried. “It's because of me why I lost my baby. It's all my fault.”
The doctor stroked her back and said, "It's not your fault. Maybe you are not ready for it. God has a better plan for you that's why he takes back your baby. Don't worry, your baby is a little angel in heaven. He would feel no pain there. Shhh. Don't blame yourself for what happened."
She continued to cry until she gradually settled down.
When she's a little calm, the doctor said,
"You will be discharged tomorrow."
She didn't say a word but just looked down.
"I hope you feel better emotionally soon. My condolences.”
The doctor left.
She was left like that, sitting on the bed with her head lowered, and tears falling again.
It didn't stop even if she forced herself. Even though she told herself that 'it's okay' 'don't cry' but her tears didn't stop.
She had no idea how long she would feel it. She doesn't even know how to face tomorrow now that she is alone and now that she lost her baby.
While she was in that position, crying, her phone rang.
She saw the name on the screen and it was her father, but she hesitated to answer the video call. He might see her like that.
She took a deep breath and forced herself not to cry again, and also wiped her face.
Once again, she wiped her face to make sure he wouldn't notice it, then answered the call.
"Dad," she called with a smile on her face.
"I heard what happened. Which hospital are you in now? We will go there right away," he said.
"Don't worry, Dad. I am okay now.”
"Are you crying? What happened?"
"N-no, Dad. I'm not crying. Why would I cry?” she said and laughed a little.
"I know you, Ariella. Why? What happened? Did your husband hurt you? Huh?!”
"No, no, no, Dad. I'm okay, I swear. Uhmm I have to rest now. I'm tired. I'll call you back.”
“Wait-”
She ended the video call right away even though her Dad still wanted to talk to her.
She already knew what he was going to say and she didn't want him to know what happened.
She lay down again and closed her eyes while crying. She didn't realize that she fell asleep while crying. Maybe her eyes were finally tired.
An hour ago, she woke up when she felt someone holding her hand. When she opened her eyes, she saw Anton sitting in the chair beside her.
"How are you? Are you hungry? Do you want something?” he asked.
"Why are you here?"
When he was about to speak, her Dad and Ara suddenly came.
"Ariella!"
Her Dad came running to her with his worried face.
"Dad?"
"What happened? Are you sick? How are you? Are you okay?” he asked with a look of worry on his face.
"Good evening, Dad," Anton greeted.
"You! What did you do?! Did you hurt her?! What happened to my daughter?!” he asked loudly and his eyebrows met.
Ariella spoke, "Leave us first." Anton looked at her in shock but he obeyed it.
"Excuse me, Dad," He left.
"What happened, Sis? Why didn't you even tell us about this? Are you okay?” Ara also asked him questions.
"Don't worry about me," she said with a fake smile on her face.
“Look at yourself. You cry, right? It's obvious from your swollen eyes. What happened huh? Did your husband hurt you? Tell me! I will teach him a lesson. Did he?”
"No, Dad. Please don't think like that. Don't worry about me, okay?"
"So, what happened? Can't you see your face, huh? It's like you cried all night. Are you okay? Tell us. We are just here, Sis.”
“How's my grandchild? Are you both okay?”
Upon hearing it, she lowered her head and was stunned for a moment.
It's hurting her heart again just like a knife stabbing her heart. She didn't notice that her tears were falling again.
Now, they realized what happened.
