Love?
CHAPTER SEVEN
He came back to his senses, then, approached her. He asked in mind if she was Mrs. Villafuerte's sister or if she just came here after a year.
He could see a warm smile on Cindy's face.
Cindy was his ex-fiancée and Mrs. Villafuerte's sister.
Staring at Cindy who is smiling at him, Anton remained in his position just like a statue. He never sees her smile for the past year and didn't see her. He never expects to see her again after one year.
Discarding his thoughts, not wanting his pasts to overshadow him like it usually did, Anton took a deep breath and cleared his throat, and approached her.
"Why are you here?" He asked and quickly averted his gaze, searching for his client's sister.
He can admit to himself that he is glad to see her, but he doesn't want and doesn't understand himself at the same time.
"What are you doing here?" He asked again greeting her.
Pouring some wine into her shot glass, Cindy glanced at him and smiled again, she says, "Congratulate me at least."
"You must go home."
Looking at Anton's unknown facial expression, she sneered and seriously says, "Are you looking for Mrs. Villafuerte's sister?"
Upon hearing this, he remembered the reason why he came to his bar.
Yes. It is his own bar. He was often here to relax, but when he met Ariella on that rainy night, everything changed.
Thinking, confused, he says, "How did…" he paused when he realized she was her sister. "You're her sister?"
Smiling, she politely nodded her head.
"What's this for?" He asked, confused.
She chuckled a bit. "Aren't you happy to see me?" she asked which surprised him.
He didn't answer right away and didn't know how to answer her question.
Instead, he asked her, "How are you?"
She laughed a little. "I'm fine, can't you see?" Then, she pointed her lips showing a smile for him.
It can be seen on her face that she's fine and happy as if nothing happened to them.
How could she act like they only know each other?
He just nodded his head, he says, "Go home, Cindy. You shouldn't be coming here."
Not knowing if she will listen to him, or just ignore him, he hopes.
"Anton, you can't stop me," she said and sneered, then flashed him her meaningful look.
He smirked. "You're still the same, Cindy," he commented.
Nodding her head, she says, "You're still the same as well, at the same time, you're still here."
He was silent for a while. Where else can he go? He's searching for happiness, somehow he found it here.
But, if not for his client, he won't come here. He will spend his time with Ariella so that she wouldn't feel unloved and unworthy. He wants to correct the wrong that he had made to Cindy through Ariella. He doesn't want to let her feel the same way.
Lack of time will ruin everything, the thing he doesn't want to happen again.
"Of course. This is my bar, my second home," he responded.
Lowering her head and laughing weakly at what he said, Anton's heart skipped a beat for a while. It hurts when she smiles.
He remembered the first time he met Cindy. It was an unexpected moment when Cindy was drowning and he was the one who saw her drowning and the one who saved her. At that time, he was helpless and lonely because of the deaths of his parents. It comes to his mind to commit suicide because he can't live his life without them. But then he saw Cindy, waiting for someone to help her because she was drowning and alone.
He saved her and it started that moment. She became his first love. He dated her, went on vacations with her, spoiled her with flowers and gifts, listening to her dramatic stories and jokes, and that's how he get her. He showed love to her.
They started to plan everything when they get married. They are almost there, but business needs him. He always spends his time working for them, for their future. But it didn't come to his mind that because of it, Cindy will walk away. Cindy felt unloved, that he doesn't have time for her.
They broke up, and Cindy went back to Malaysia again to restart her life without him….
"By the way, what are we going to talk about?" He asked so that their conversation would be different and not lead to digging up Cindy and Anton's past
"Well," she meant to pause and think of what to say next. "I just want to see you and ask how are you," she added, then in an unexpected moment, her gaze turned to his hands. She saw and noticed the ring he was wearing right now.
A wedding ring.
Staring at the ring his finger was wearing, her smile disappeared, and she coldly asks, "You are married?"
Upon hearing her question, he looked at his hand, his ring finger wearing a ring, a wedding ring, and says, "Yes."
She was stunned and speechless for a moment, echoing in her ears the word he had said.
'You are married?'
'Yes.'
Is she affected by seeing his ring, and knowing he was married to someone new?
…
A few minutes passed in silence until her phone rang. She answered it.
Listening to the speaker on the other line, she responded, "I'm inside, bye." Then, she hangs up her phone.
Wondering who she was talking to, Anton remained silent and keep on averting his gaze. Then, he suddenly remembered that he had to come back to his office because Ariella is waiting for his return. Also, he has some papers to sign and that won't get done if he stays at the bar.
Thinking Ariella might get bored, he turned back and was about to leave when he saw a man approaching.
The same height as Anton with thick eyelashes and eyebrows. His green eyes are attractive, and his nose was sharp and straight.
A warm smile appeared on his face with his pinkish lips.
Anton looked into his eyes and noticed where and who he was looking and going to approach.
He turned to Cindy, thinking, frowning his forehead.
Is he going to approach Cindy? Is he the one who called her?
Showing joy on her face, Cindy gladly says, "Finally, you're here now." There was a smile on her lips. A smile like a smile he saw when they were together.
"You should inform me before going here, love," the man replied.
Love? Did he call her love?
